I bought one of these about 2 months ago because I figured at a total of $115 bucks (after the 20% discount), it wouldn't be the biggest loss if it turned out to be a piece of junk. To say I was very surprised at how good it is after receiving it is an understatement. The quality is actually better than a Fender Squire that costs 3 times more. The pickups also kind of blew my mind at how good they sound and they have a unique PAF on steroids type of tone with beautiful overtones that is very pleasant through my PRS MT15 and Joyo Zombie. I did remove those saddle screws though and shortened the length of them by carefully grinding the bottoms down about 1/16" on a grinding wheel before screwing them back in, which fixed the problem of them sticking out of the top and irritating the palm of my hand. A couple of weeks ago I desided to measure the width of the saddles amd I found a set of imported solid brass saddles that were the same width (10.3mm) for $11.49 on ebay and ordered them as well as a bone nut blank. After installing the saddles and nut and properly slotting it with a set of nut files, it now plays and sounds just as good as my U.S. Carruthers custom shop Tele.

Budget guitar but has an expensive tone when played by sir Perf 🤘.

Just replace the saddles, Gotoh S11 are brass, S21 are steel.
The pickups have the same spec as the Musiclily Wilkinson Alnico V Vintage, the bridge is overwound around 14K, neck less than 8K.
You can get pickguards for wide range humbuckers and P90s. Might get a second one for P90s.
I put Artec Giovanni 59 PAF zebra copies in mine, painted the pickguard matte black, 2 push pulls to split the coils separately and a 4 way switch, Puretone jack, brass saddles and a Tusq nut. Using the neck for a different project and replaced it with a Chinese roasted maple neck with a rosewood board to darken it up a bit. It's a great body, wet sanded the gloss down to semi-gloss. Cant put it down.

I bought this Donner thin line guitar and I switched the pickguard to a 3-ply black one and man does it look even more amazing! It’s honestly a wonderful guitar especially for around $100. It is really is fun to play.

I just got one of them couple weeks ago and after a little set up and little fret leveling lower the strings i was amazed how good it played and the pickups where really good very clear not to much bass , i fail in love with this guitar and it looks beautiful
Its reminding me of Hoffner bass that Paul McCartney uses when the Beatles is still in their prime.

I want one... But I am torn between this and the IYV thinline as well. The IYV has a natural wood finish .. but the sunburst is also really nice....sound is amazing

Bought one a while back. Love it but am losing patience with the tuners. Is there a drop-in set you'd recommend? I generally use Grovers but compatibility with the headstock is more a priority for me than features, price or manufacturer.
I used Hipshots on my Glarry project, just check the hole diameters: 10mm for imports, 8.5mm for vintage style amzn.to/3NnqmeE
@@OfficialPerfectoDeCastro Thanks for the prompt response. I picked up the Hipshots set from Amazon. I did need to enlarge the holes a little, which was a bit unnerving. But a $4.99 reamer from Harbor Freight worked like a charm. As expected, it took a day or two for things to stabilize, probably not helped by the fact I reused a set of strings I had recently installed. Things now, are looking rock solid--a definite improvement from the original tuners. I may do a similar upgrade to my Donner electric/acoustic. Thanks, again.

Just got my DJC-1000 today from their summer sale and was surprised that it has most ambient 60 htz hum of anything I own. Hum mutes with physical contact to any metal part of the instrument and also with the volume pot at full gain. Anyone know if this is commonplace on this instrument or might I have just gotten one with a bad pot or solder joint? I'm not so impressed with the instrument to do a lot of work on it.

@@StevieZero not no more, yeah theres tons of cheap amps but none that are cheap and work good without tons of static and good tone. Last time i spent 50 som on an amp it was the worst amp ever like it made for kids.
Yes still more,,,you'll get a Vox pathfinder for about 80quid and u'll get plenty of other decent amps including Marshall for same price and slightly cheaper...
