I just happen to have a 2021 Ridgeline in this color with the HPD package. I really like the truck, lots of really great features - some due to the unibody construction! The AWD system and driving modes (Normal, Snow, Mud, Sand) makes my previous Ford and Dodge trucks seem antiquated. However I wouldn’t opt for the HPD package again. It was a $2,800 option and it’s just for looks. The fake fender flares are already coming loose and the fender flares prevent the installation of mud flaps - much more useful option in my opinion. But it’s a pretty great vehicle, I’d buy another one in a heartbeat!

Agreed. I have a 2022 RTL-E and I do not regret not getting the HPD package - which another dealer tried to sell me. There was no real advantage to having the package other than the aesthetics, of which I was not thrilled anyway. All in all, a great truck.

Great review as always! All agreed. This version, the Grey RTLE with the HPD package is the most dynamic visually, but the red paint they offer is nice too! I have a white ‘22 Black Edition - such a great truck.

Congratulations the Black Edition is the Best and now you don’t have to option the HPD you can add flared fenders and I would make a Black Edition graphic and skip the wheels. I always enjoy the Ridgeline, great truck that adds extra cargo no truck in its class has 👍

I thought when the Ridgeline came out in 2006 it would be a complete failure. I disliked everything about it. Here we are, and it's still here and I wish I had one. The price takes my breath away. I still have my 03 F150 I paid just under 20k for. Even though we no longer have the boat I keep it, in case I need a bag of mulch from the home Depot. Catch you on the next one Anthony.

    • @HawkeyeRides
      @HawkeyeRides  Před rokem +2

I agree the price for a mid-size truck I feel should be cheaper but as time goes this truck has made its way in with great overall use. It’s not over the top and everyday, we had a 02 Ranger, over 200k on the clock and did a oil change, the guy didn’t fill it up and burned the engine. We loved it so much that we bought a new engine and keep it another year but the engine was a rebuild and had too many problems. Always great catching up Sam 👍🏻

I drove a 2006 for over 12 years. I unfortunately got in an accident, and am now purchasing my first new vehicle, a 2023 RTL with a few upgrades. Sometimes I wish I never knew some options existed so I would not feel like I am settling for a lower trim model. lol

  • @kevinwalls5857

Hold on. I like the steering wheel. I have the Black Edition. The materials used are of good quality. It feels like it will last forever. The steering wheel in my 2016 F150 Platinum wore out in 3 years. I had it replaced under warranty with the same steering wheel that will eventually start wearing out in 3 years. The Ridgeline feels and drives Solid.

Unfortunately I couldn’t order HPD in Canada, as it wasn’t an available option here. I ordered a black edition and the separate accessories to make my own. Couldn’t get the bronze rims in Canada, but was able to get the same ones in black. Actually looks pretty sharp, black on black.

I have a 2022 Black Edition/ Black with the tri fold bed cover and mud flaps. I get many compliments on how sporty the truck looks because of the all black interior and black exterior. I'm thinking about adding the Honda OEM running boards. I think the running boards give it an even more robust look plus it will help accessing the top when washing. But, I can't decide if I want to spend the $600 for them.

For me it wouldn’t be worth the cost since I never go off road. This package seems way too expensive as it is mostly cosmetic. The all-terrain tires are good only if you travel on rough roads regularly. I have a 2023 RTL and love it.

The HPD package is nothing more than aesthetics nothing different about the suspension engine etc. The best value package is the RTL, Hondas navigation system is not great you most likely will be opting for your own device for maps, etc..will save you about 7k getting a RTL over the RTLE and HPD but still has leather sunroof etc

He failed to address the premise of the video, which is "is the HPD Worth BUYING?" To my mind, the HPD package offers ZERO functional advantage. It may impress some folks; that's fine, but the $3k dollars could buy a great mountain bike, or any number of other durable, useful items. The Ridgeline offers a ton of practical value, the HPD option offers useless bling.

You forget it comes standard with IVTM4 Torque Vectorng AWD Systems base model since 2020 refresh. Back to 1st Generation Ridgeline 2006-2014 roots had 4WD VTM4 on base model.
So it's starts higher with that standard feature alone. Your paying same price as a AWD Pilot or Passport. The hood back to rear seat is those vehicles.
Ridgeline has some beefed up suspension parts for truck duty.
The Ridgeline according to multiple reviews rides the best over the two SUVs.
So your trading some leg space in the rear and some interior cargo room. That's depends because Ridgeline rear seats 60/40 fold up so from flat floor up you have space. The SUVs just fold down. Ridgeline gives you a truck bed with layflat bed No wheelwell intrusions wheelhumps in bed of truck. Then you have deep lockable watertight in-bed trunk with drain plug.
