      Find a local game store listed on FFG's website as a demo location for Legion (found here www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/op/swlegion/launch-weekend/ ) and go for some demos, meet new people, and establish a regular time to meet up and play! In addition, you can download Tabletop Simulator and the SW Legion Mod and play with people that way. There's a Legion Discord you can use to coordinate with others to find time to game. Best of luck!

    Just a note if you people are trying to decide which core set or army to get... I got the Prequel set and I like it. BUT... the battle droids are very fiddly. Thin, with thin socket ball joints to put together. Make sure you are ready for the struggle of assembling them. And make sure you have a good pair of clippers to get parts of the sprues, I did lose part of a gun arm. No big, I just made it look like he was holding his wrist and Obi-Wan cut him, LOL.
    Play wise, they are kind of fun, getting to network and pass orders from one unit to another. So if you trust your modelling skills, go for it.
    I had zero problems with the clone army or with Obi-Wan, and little trouble with Grievous. But man, the B1 models take PATIENCE for sure.

    If your unit has a special trooper in it, such as a stormtrooper unit with the DLT-19 stormtrooper; if it takes damage, can you switch it with another member of the unit like you do a leader?
    So if my DLT-19 stormtrooper is killed, but I have 3 other NON-Leader stormtroopers in that unit; am I just short m DLT-19 or could I take one of m non leaders off and put that back in?
    I assume you cannot, but I want to make sure; because that means you need to provide much better protection to those figures.

    • @michaelnovak5791
      @michaelnovak5791 Před 6 lety +5

      If circumstances arise such that you must assign a wound to your DLT-19 mini, you will lose the DLT-19 mini's card and cannot shift the wound to a regular trooper.
      In general, since the controller of the unit gets to assign wounds, you will most likely choose normal troopers first. This is why abilities like Vader's Force Choke are scary, as Vader's owner gets to assign a wound to a specific mini at range one.

    Just to correct you on the impact keyword at 20:40 in the video. the troopers rifles will not get the impact rule aswell. Only the weapon firing that has the keyword (i.e. impact) applies those effects. The effects of the keyword do not carry over to weapons that do not have this keyword. So if you are firing 3 blasters at a unit with armour, only the impact weapon will have the impact bonuses not the standard rifles. The only time a keyword adds its benefits to other weapons is if it has Blast, such as grenades etc.

      No you can only do one attack per turn, even free ones. For example, let's say Luke used his pistol to attack a unit of stormtroopers. That's his first action. Then he moves into base contact with the the unit. That's his second action. His charge ability would normally let him do a melee attack after moving (as a free action) but because he already attacked this activation, this free melee attack action is ignored.
      hope that clears things up

    I have some questions about the rules:
    1 - About the range of the weapons: 1-3 means the weapon is able to be used while the target is inside the range 1-3, meaning that if it was 3 I would not be able to target it?
    2 - Also about the aim, if a weapon says 1-(+) [the target simbol] does that means it have infinite range? Like the ones in some sniper rifle unit upgrade cards?
    3 - Also about the aim: AT-ST Mortar Launcher says it has a 4-(+) range and MS-4 Twin Blaster Cannon has a 1-4 range. If I want to attack a unit with both weapons, that unit must be insite the range 4 arc? I have this question becouse I was seeing the ranges like a limit line, but it seems now that they are really an entire area of effect by themselves.
    4 - About the action cards: Force Reflexes gives 1 Dodge token when used, but can I use it during my opponent's turn?
    Thanks in advice

      I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card/weapon effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. @@WatchItPlayed About the card effects: All card action, free or not, are treated as being actions or free actions, so it can only be used during that unit's activation. So no dodge tokens for Luke during a Vader's turn.
      Also the two aim simbols on a weapon's range means it's minimum and maximum range, it cannot shoot anything before the minimum range and nothing beyound the maximum range. If a maximum range is (+) that means it can shoot "beyond range 5", so it is indeed infinite range.
      Just to note, if a weapon have only one range simbol, that is both it's minimum and maximum range, so the defender have to be inside it's range, like the range 1 of time bombs or grenades.

    Okay, I have a question around the 26:45 mark. So, if a unit has Concussion Grenades (which ignores cover), and 1 guy in the unit throws a grenade -- then the other troopers firing the E-11 blaster rifles ALSO ignore cover?
    It doesn't make sense to me, because those are two totally different types of weapons.

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed Před 6 lety +1

      The example you give is correct. It may help to think of it this way: the concussion grenade has a range of 1, so the other troopers will also have to be close when this attack happens, meaning the concussion grenade is going to make the enemy scatter a bit, making them easier to be shot as well.
      Really though, my guess is that this is simply important from a rules perspective, and isn't meant to be thematically perfect. It's a bit of an abstraction.

    • @MasterJediDude
      @MasterJediDude Před 6 lety +1

      Watch It Played, well, it almost makes sense thematically because of the example you gave. If the grenade strikes the guys behind cover, I can see them scattering and getting shot to pieces. Some shock and awe Stormtrooper tactics. Ha ha. Thanks for clarifying.

      Honestly, these rules are MUCH simpler and more intuitive than those of most tabletop strategy games I’ve played. Now, that won’t stop the munchkins from munching, but that’s because they always will munch anything set in front of them, regardless of its comparative simplicity or complexity. And for those intent on playing deadly serious competitive games in a tournament setting (I am not among them), the benevolent overlords at FFG have proven themselves vigilant and capable in producing errata and fixes whenever necessary to ensure that everyone continues to have a good time. The rest of us can relax, ignore said errata, and play friendly narrative campaigns and and fun scenarios with our friends and families at home. :)

      It's no worse than other unit based miniatures war games on the market, such as Warhammer 40k. If you haven't played games of this type, then yes, it would seem complex compared to the other Star Wars games that FF puts out. But if your frame of reference is something like 40k, I'd say it's, very roughly speaking, about the same general level of complexity.

    • @haydengibbons5000
      @haydengibbons5000 Před 3 lety

      This is probably a bit late but I'll answer anyways. Using the card will take one action. It lets you choose one of your weapons that previously could only be used in melee and perform a ranged attack against a unit at range 1-2. To determine the amount of dice you get to attack with, take the amount of dice you would normally use for that weapon, and only roll half of them, rounded up. So for vader we would roll 3 red dice. All weapon keywords from the melee attack would be carried over to this attack.

      Each model in the unit may choose to fire a different available weapon, but a single model can't fire both weapons at the same time unless they have the Arsenal ability.
      So in the Speeder example, one could fire it's main gun at a target, and the other could fire it's handheld one at a target. But you couldn't have both of them fire both weapons at a target.

I think it would work like this, based on the rules: "If it is impossible for a unit to perform a full move, it can perform a partial move instead, but the partial move must end as far along the movement template as possible. If the unit performs a partial movement because it cannot perform a full movement, the unit immediately suffers a number of wounds equal to its maximum speed."
      If it was impossible for the speeder's base to be flat on the ground after the partial compulsory move, I think it would take damage.

      these cards act as any other order cards. you simply compare the amount of dots in the top left corner to your opponents card, and issue the amount of orders detailed on the card. Remember, issuing an order just means placing the unit's token face up next to them. None of these cards have special abilities, except for standing orders, which goes back into your hand after being played. They are also generic, so if you were playing with commanders from expansions, any commander can issue the orders instead of just the one shown in the top right corner of most command cards.
