Ukraine's tenacious and heroic defence of their homeland, against the mass of Russian military strength could be likened to the defence of Rourkes Drift.
Except I think eventually Ukraine and Russia will draw down offensive actions to an uneasy ceasefire and Russia will continue to hold the ground it now occupies. Ukraine will never have the strength to drive Russia back.

Well "this obsession" probably comes from necessity. Russia is pressuring all over the front, Ukraine has issues with manpower and situation does not seems to be improving, not really good signs coming from US regarding future elections. So Ukraine probably making some steps before situation gets out of control.
