Я в детстве с бабушкиной кровати снимала покрывала из тюли,делала себе юбки такие и танцевала))В украинской мазанке,на земляном полу,покрытом самодельными вязанными половицами перед шифоньером с зеркалом..И пела сама себе т к не было ничего.. И это было в 70-х гг..Обожаю

I made dressed like that - as a child I danced to this music but kicked up my heels more and still twirled like that even to disco music. Love the music of al cultures. Pity we had no videos back then.

The skirt is easy to make, though it takes some time. It's just strips of fabric. You can do with minimum three, but better 4 or 5 layers. The last layer can be of a different colour, as here.
For the width of the layers, calculate the total length of your skirt, divide it with the number of layers (for instance 5), then add to each layer some stitching allowance on each side.
As for the layers' length, remember that the finished skirt must be wide enough that you can hold it and the arms should be able to go to your head!
After the first strip, each new strip is twice as long as the previous one, so they quickly become really long!
You gather them (if your sewing machine has a gathering attachment your life is much easier), then pin the various layers together in the right order (shortest to longest) and stitch them.

I love this.. so reminds me of the original Roma Ensemble from Poland from 70s where my two twin sister friends were soloist. Toiday so called Gypsy music doesn't resemble Gypsy but a disco polo. Sad.

Native American Shawl Dancers (or as I call them, Fancy Shawl) are dances that usually takes place at powwows, and the dancers have to sync in with the beat, look strong, persevered, and elegant at the same time. From my experience with these type of dances, these dances are practiced to perfection, then performed
