    For Roscommon, I think a definite improvement this year over last. Ciaran Murtagh ( year out ?) was hugely missed. Relegation was a disappointment, but Enda Smith missed the vital opening game loss to Tyrone, and the absence of several St Bridgids players after their Club championship run, especially Ben O Carroll through injury, and Eddie Nolan were big losses throughout the league and championship. A milestone 1st championship victory ever over Tyrone, and in Omagh, and did get over the preliminary QF hurdle in a shootout v Cavan. Armagh fully deserved to win the QF game, but with too many of Roscommon’s forwards misfiring on the day, and coupled with the early losses of 2 key players and being a man down for all of the 2nd half, that game was a write off. Last year Roscommon were helped towards the exit door by 2 mid table D2 teams and so failed to reach the last 8. This year , the eventual AI champions beat them in a QF where a lot of things went against them. As usual for teams like Roscommon, getting the league/championship balance right is crucial to avoiding relegation and then having that consistent 3 or 4 game run in the championship that should get a team to an AISF spot.

    Like as a rossie on the surface this has been just a shit year. However the lads could of given up but fair play to them their performances improved and they beat Cavan and Tyrone when in the past they lost to Clare Kildare and Cork we are really bad outside of Connacht so some big wins there
    But on the side of it if it wasn’t for some silly goals st Brigids and Castlerea could of won senior and intermediate all Ireland champions and the un20 winning Connacht and minor’s getting out of it, the future is bright we’re a bit like Monaghan but we’re not drying up yet.
    My second team is cavan with some family ties and they did the best with what they were given, Promotion would be though with Donegal and Armagh next year might be easier. Even with lynch the group was tough with mayo Dublin and Roscommon if you swapped cavan and Meath i feel like cavan would of got out of Kerry’s group

    Thank you for your kind comments on Armagh. The only thing I would disagree on is you mentioned they got beat in finals. With the exception of Donegal in the 2nd division league final, the two ulster finals were drawn games that went to penalties. Which should have no place in Gaelic football.

    Armagh did not have killer's up front but they played like a unit. Armagh forwards very poor in the final. Mayo are too far down your list, win the ladt kick out against Dublin and there in a semi with great chance to make the final like Armagh and Galway who are about same level of players as A Mayo or Derry. Only knocked out on Pens too Against Derry many peoples favs for Sam. And Donegal 4th ? They won't make semi next year you heard it here first .

    this is the first year since 2010 none of Dublin, Kerry or Mayo weren't in the final - 13 years!!! Armagh (and I'm an Armagh man) aren't even the best team in Ulster. Donegal, Derry, Tyrone and even Monaghan would probably have beaten us. We're not a bad team - McGeeney's aim was to make us a consistent top 8 team. I think that's the best thing about our win this year - all the teams in the chasing pack behind Dublin and Kerry will feel they have a chance if any of the big 2 get knocked out. Prediction for next year - Dublin v Kerry final - although would love to see Galway win it

      What are you on about. Donegal is the only team in Ulster that beat us this year. Tyrone and Monaghan where horrible this year and we stuffed Derry. We have lost a championship game in full time in like 20+ games now in a row either

    • @ruairievans6781
      @ruairievans6781 Před měsícem

      What have you been drinking? Armagh & Donegal are by far and away the top 2 in Ulster right now (with Armagh tipping it). Tyrone and Derry were non entities in the championship and were nowhere near good enough - there is literally no basis for comparison. Can you remember the last time Armagh lost a championship game without it going to penalties?

    • @cillsleibhe4653
      @cillsleibhe4653 Před měsícem

      OK lads I'll row back on that comment. Change the 'would probably' to 'could' The point I was trying to make is we haven't won an Ulster title since 2008 and all of those teams have beaten us either this year or last year. Was very glad not to face Donegal in the final. Anyways, after all the heartache the last few years... its been an unbelievable year for us
