You probably know this Megan, in German (I’m Swiss), Schnitz means “slice”. An “Apfelschnitz” is an apple slice, for both fresh or dried. ❤

❤ Thank you so much for giving back and spreading awareness. I'm a Lancaster County neighbor. Conestoga Valley Christian Community Services and Crossnet Ministry in New Holland truly helped me so much during the hardest times, especially during pregnancy. The food pantries supported me when I could not buy food. Their clothing banks were the only clothes my daughter and I wore for two years. I was so thankful to people that donated their clothing and the volunteers that helped me shop when I could barely walk. God really blessed me through these people, and volunteers like you ❤

Hi Megan, in the UK many food banks have appeared especially with the cost of living crisis and many churches now have them too as the council ones you have to have a voucher, but there are many people in poverty who can’t get the vouchers and the one ran by volunteers and churches are much needed nowadays.
I love that you took the boys. We are a Catholic family and every year I ask our 3 granddaughters what they would like to send to countries where families have nothing through an organisation called CAFOD and explain that these gift help people to live. They have chosen chickens, goats, bees, seeds, school supplies there are so many option and last year the youngest chose a safe water supply as she read how far a little boy had to walk to get water. I let them all chose something and I do it for them. It is very important that our children/grandchildren realise how lucky they are. (Sorry for long message)
I’m loving all your recipes in fact I love everything you all do and the way you bring up your children. I can see that bump growing he’s going to be blessed to be born into your beautiful family xxx

Hi Megan, I've been using my dehydrator for lemon slices, orange slices and herbs. For things which are more juicy, you can squeeze the juice out between a wooden board, and a heavy weight ... Like how you can do tofu if you have ever tried that.

You might know this story, but Bonne Maman (the orange fruit spread) is a French brand of preserves. They are known for the fact that they were a family-owned business that worked hard to harbour and aid the French Jewish population during the Occupation in World War II. Many people only buy Bonne Maman in memory of this. I used to buy it when I lived in Canada, and continue to do so here in France. Love your videos, and your wholesome view of the world! Coming from Toronto, not far from Kitchener, Ontario, I have had Mennonite colleagues at work and have real admiration for what you stand for.

we love dehydrating apples! my hand crank peeler/slicer/corer that can clamp onto the counter edge comes in super handy, I just skip the peeling tool on it. Here in the uk in the winter months we put coats that we no longer want on trees,we open them and literally zip them up and put a tag on them saying... please take me and keep yourself warm.
And as for the food pantry thing we have surplus food tables that saves food still good for consumption from going to landfill. most supermarkets donate at the end of the day items that are nearing end of shelf life.
They are for anyone as they save the food and the planet intern.
Homeless and those ineed take for free of course and anyone else wishing to purchase anything you make a donation.
Ive been on my way to the supermarket before for peppers and such like and swerved past the table and they had some perfect ones so i bought those instead, the money raised goes to Homeless charities.
I think more ppl should purchase bits and bobs from food pantrys or landfill tables as although it may feel very weird ( it definitely did for me,but when i looked at the bigger picture) it soon became apparent that not only was i helping the planet but also raising much needed funds for the homeless.
Well done Megan for taking the children along so they can see what the help of others is actually giving to those in need. There are maby ways to show you care and to help out and this is just a few.If we all did our bit now and then in ways other than just clothing donations & the obvious one money.
The change would be noticeable as alot of the big charities take a cut for themselves and those who need the help dont actually get it,which makes me sad.
This way you can see the help and support in front of our faces as its instant support. ❤

Here in Australia I'm drying apples right now in trays outside in the sun and on the car dashboard - cars make a perfect dehydrator because they heat so much. Pineapple in the dehydrator would probably be so good! I did watermelon for the first time this year and it's like candy! my dehydrator came with solid lipped inserts for the trays that all you to make up a fruit puree and turn it into fruit leather. you maybe able to do they same by lining the trays with parchment paper and rolling up the edges a bit to prevent overflow.

Dehydrating pineapple tidbits (not chunks) is awesome. It’s like candy.

Dehydrated sliced banana with honey on them is good. I've read it helps thrm not turn brown. Dehydrated veggies and fruit are good and extends the life of them.
I love anything pumpkin or pumpkin spice. Would be good on pumpkin pie or pumpkin bread.
I love you involve the children with. community service projects.
I'm starting an annual Christmas for homeless children. We can use new gift donations for ages 2- 12 if anyone can help us with even one item.

I love that you bought pork rinds at the food pantry. I like them but can hardly find anyone else that does😂
