- There was a severe lack of ArmA 3 lore on CZcams, so I'm setting out to correct that. Slowly but surely, I plan on covering most major topics and even some minor ones to help piece together the lore and backstory of one of the best games of our generation. I'd like to share my thoughts on Stratis, not about the story it has, but on how it's made. While I am not from A. Eustratios, which is the real life island Stratis was based on, I am from a different Greek island and I generally know how Greek islands are.
I think Bohemia did an amazing job of not only designing the terrain, but the infrastructure as well. The terrain itself is amazing, but thats only part of it. How the island was built upon by humans, is tricky to replicate 1:1. For example, I'd have been surprised if the island had paved roads, apart from the cities. And that comment Viper1 made about the gas station, is actually very realistic. It's not uncommon for there to be a single gas station in an entire area. It's the only game I have played thus far that actually makes me feel like I am on an authentic Greek island. Also, the AAF, maybe apart from the default camo, is exactly what I would expect for the army of an island like Altis and Stratis (Limnos and A. Eustratios irl) to look like. Overall, everything is very well designed, bohemia really went above and beyond with it!
Awesome feedback! I know BI would love to know they nailed the look and feel of the islands! I’ve always been fascinated with Greece and the Aegean. I kick myself to this day for not going there when I was stationed in Europe.

Arma's campaigns are extremely underrated and pretty much nobody talks about them. Hell, you can't even find a complete walkthrough of Arma 2's Harvest Red on youtube. At least Arma 3 got more people interested.

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain the lore of ARMA III. As someone who doesn’t own all the DLCs, I think it would be really cool if you continued through the base game and into the DLC lore as well.

If/ When you move onto larger islands, showing a map with highlighted areas would be nice when referencing specific regions.

The Airbase lore is exactly what can be seen in a loading hint.
Fantastic. I’m gonna play the relevant SP parts of the game with an understanding of why things happen as they do, I expect this will improve immersion quite a bit :D.
Hey Viper - thanks for the vid. I like this idea. I found when playing through the campaigns it wasn’t always clear what the hell was going on and this really helps!

Yeah the maps are pretty amazing. using satmaps from real world places and giving it a lived in feel from actual on the ground pictures is next level design.

all of the arma 3 campaigns are great, super immersive, great plot. they all make you feel like you are in the shoes of the character, in such a short time. i really hope that arma 4 continues the story.
Ikr especially since the endings for the campaign are both open-ended. Wud be kinda cool.

Loved this video mate. Well done. Any chance you could make a video showing a fully operational Stratis airbase? Filmed in a cinematic way showing how the base should look like when fully populated with assets and troops and vehicles in the proper places with vehicles leaving and entering the base and the small firing range in use (back of the base) with maybe a pistol range? Would be nice to see it fully operational
Maybe also smaller vids in a cinematic way showcasing the driving course or the vehicle gun range behind the driving course? Or a video showcasing the firing range being used as it would in real life with all the props/ maybe the watch tower beside the firing points could be built to show the officer in charge of the range working the targets for the shooters?
I would like to see more of this, its a good idea to have more informations about the maps, as well as history about them. Good job!!!

Lol some of the animations looked a bit goofy but I really enjoyed this video. The ATC tower guys furiously typing was pretty funny.

I must say, I was literally thinking into searching some "Arma 3 Lore"/"Arma 3 Myths" on CZcams a couple of days ago, but didn't do it because I've already done it in the past and nothing notable showed up. Today I was literally watching some video about a Hind getting shot down in Ukraine back in 2014 (YELLOW 15, RIP) and this video got randomly recommended. Finally someone doing this, looking very forward for this series! :D

the video was well constructed and I agree that arma 3 lacks lore videos, but I think you should do research and dive into the history as well, outside of the East Wind campaign. it doesn't have to be a detailed explanation, moreso just covering things like the earthquake that struck agia marina. just things to make the lore non singleplayer centric

A fictional Greek island republic. It would make sense that not only Greece has sold out to the EU. But also don’t represent its Greek traditions and values and so Altus decides to side with the CSTO or Chinese NATO. To allow China to build their Eurasian union. And also play for the “winning side”
