Excellent overview, Jason! It reminds me a lot of Charterstone, in both ways I enjoyed and didn't. Personally, I'd have liked to have seen more narrative events and exploration, rather than mechanical village building. Also, I found the relationship with the native species to be a bit one-note (you pay them to help you build your ecosystem? Hm...) Anyhoo, not my kind of adventure but nonetheless much to appreciate. Here's looking to more in this subgenre!
Thanks Jason. Your review coincided with my shipping notification for Mythwind. Super excited to finally get it to the table, having watch quite a few playthroughs now. My only "con" so far is that the economy is capitalist. Would have been so refreshing to see some economic democracy. Oh, also, I can't see me ever playing the merchant. Too much like accountancy for me. I got out of accountancy a long time ago, and even watching the Coffee Table instructional video for the Merchant had my eyes glazing over as my brain shut down as a defence against PTSD the profession caused me. lol
