    I could’ve used one of those a few weeks ago !! I had a friend used his Artisan Tradition to cut a hose . But he didn’t realize it was hydraulic and had a wire to hold its form . He put chips in about 2” of the edge . I didn’t realize how hard it would be to work chips out of D2 . I spent about 4 hours on it , but got the chips out , a nice edge , and managed to not alter the profile at all . I felt good once I was done with it !! But something like this would’ve helped . I used a combination of my Lansky and a work sharp angle set sharpener .
    BTW , I figured out to stop at the tip in high school !!😂🤣😂🤣
    Hopefully my bike wasn’t too far . Thanks for the video !! Take care JB

    I have the MK2 arriving tomorrow and also have the precision angle sharpener. My son's friend has a bunch of filet knives he needs sharpened. How did the MK2 do with those? I love the precision angle sharpener, but my first attempt on a filet knife did not turn out as well I wanted. Any chance on a filet knife video with either or both of the systems? Thanks and great timing on the video!

    They have such a bad wrap, but I've had great success with mine. I've found after profiling or b4 switching belts, alternating side to side a stroke at a time, really helps to straighten out any burr that may have formed and really brings the edge into alignment.

    • @BigRedEDC

      I don't use diamond plates so can't really make a comparison. I mainly use this for large batch sharpening and tools anymore. For normal sharpening I use the Precision Adjust from WorkSharp or the KME.

    Looked really easy. Not alot different than the Ken Onion. You have both now and have used the new one. I don't know the price on the Mach 2. In your opinion is it a big enough improvement to purchase and have two. My Ken Onion is basically new maybe 15 knives done on it. I would appreciate your opinion. Does that new won do much larger items such as lawn mower blade?
    Would appreciate knowing if you think buying the new one to go with a pretty much new Ken Onion blade grinder???

    • @BigRedEDC
      @BigRedEDC  Před 3 lety +1

      I dont have the Ken Onion version....I have the original knife and tool sharpener. Now if the Ken Onion can do the tools and mower blades...I would say you are good with that one. The Ken Onion also has more edge angle options where the MK2 only has 20 and 25 degrees. I would say stick with the Ken Onion if you can do your tools and everything with it!
      Thanks so much Rick!

    You are supposed to follow the curvature of the blade and also check for a burr before switching sides, then do an equal number of passes on the opposite side. Then strop, with the 6000 belt maybe 5 times per side. Only when youve done that do you wanna try on paper. Otherwise you are cutting with the burr, it's never gonna be good.
