- During the build process of the M4 GT3 Street conversion you all demaned that we take this car to a track to see how it actually preformed with all its updated aero and design. Well today we have the famous Laguna Seca Raceway all to our selves to finally see how this car does! Until we run into an issue...but not with the car.

I live about 15 minutes away from laguna seca and can confirm these people did indeed choose the place to build. Knowing they would be living next to a race track.

I live about 25-30 minutes from Maryland International Raceway and with all these other dragstrips closing ive been worried. Luckily all the land around MiR is mostly Amish and they haven't complained in in 40+ years.😂
It's the same story at Lime Rock. People move in next to the most beautiful race track in the country and then complain to the town about the noise.

That shit is crazy to get banned. Like people knew what they were doing when moving to near a racetrack. But these track do have their decimal limits so. It was just too loud

Actually a lot of people don't know they moved near a racetrack....the Realtors aren't going to be like "oh yeah by the way this house is next to a Very Noisy Racetrack.

@@xaronadams6804single turbo would be way too much lag for the track, especially when you don’t have antilag. Too much torque would also make exits too slow. The stock turbos are the best for the track condition.

A lot of racetracks actually have sound limits. Road America does too. Laguna Seca is probably the worst tho

You need a Laguna Tune. (Different exhaust that muffles more and sends sound direction more inward of the track and upward)

For someone that has been on 24h Nürburgring and seen M4 GT3 IRL, they just use cats as the last mufflers.
Even flat out they don't sound that loud

Well like he said it is stock, so it has stock cooling. Vented or not you'd need to upgrade the cooling system if you plan to track a car for extended periods of time.

GT3 Cup is a Porsche specific thing, one make racing using 911 GT3 road car based cars - the cars are not actually built to FIA GT3 regulations. The M4 GT3 is built to international GT3 regs, which are pretty diff to Porsche GT3 Cup cars. Main point is there is no such thing as a M4 GT3 Cup. Also you’ve come this far, why not take it to a proper shop and get them to do some major chassis surgery to it so it sits right. Also the wheels don’t help, would look better with some super wide forged wheels with flatter faces. Like magnesium Super Gt spec single lug TE37s or similar. The 3 piece with dish just emphasise the goofy proportions.
The M4 GT3 races in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, so you can call it a cup car if you want.

there is a lot that can help with the responsiveness of the car besides sidewall profile. sway bar size, spring rates and dampening, adjusing your roll center and knuckle height. but on the brightside softer suspension is actually grippier and better suited for street driving and in canyons where your gonna need that suspension stroke and forgiveness for the bumps and bad road surfaces. the track is smooth and has plenty of grip so thats where you will be wishing you had a stiffer and more responsive setup the most
You gotta take the M4 on One Lap of America! The ultimate road track car on the ultimate road trip track event would be so cool.

You definitely should have gave a shoutout to the sunwise group for inviting you. Also the cars in the paddock were very cool would have been nice to see you show that. There was quite a few cars that passed you on track
I had the only 25 m4 there and passed him twice. Mines fully stock. I race motorcycles, though. It was an awsome event and the group who put it on was super accommodating and awsome people.
Love seeing all the boys together need more of those type of vlogs love seeing Dustin in there as well the real OGs need to stay together. Loved the video!

Get valves put into the exhaust, then if your at tracks with restrictions you can close them or near houses at later timing the day to keep it quite near houses….

Yea i have polished wheels and you have to get the brake dust off asap or it can pit the aluminum. My gram lights and bbs wheels on the other hand are powdercoated from factory and the brake dust wont hurt it and being ceramic coated it rinses off so easy no chemicals.

It's incredible to me that the DB limit this day was so much lower than what Germany allows for exhaust regulations. Ridiculous that the people, who moved closed to a racetrack, complain about the noise.

Absolutely ridiculous that a track has a sound limit. If you dont like the sound dont live by a racetrack.
Unfortunately Laguna has had a strict sound limit for many years. Whenever my club (Porsche Owners Club) went there, many drivers had to change their exhaust system so they could compete there.
Other tracks have sound limits too, they’re just not as strict.
Houses earn money for the state they're not going to not build houses.

The track is surrounded by 2-5 million dollar houses. That amount of people with that much money get what they want passed through ordinances over a race track. Same reason Cletus Mcfarland was trying so hard to stop the neighborhood being built next to his race track.

Everyone that runs there has a Laguna exhaust. Talk to Magnaflow and do a V band set up with an extra muffler
It has to be crazy knowing you used to race this track on Gran Turismo and now you are driving Laguna in your own custom car
You NEED some spherical bushings in your suspension. Some of the deflection you feel is the sidewalls but I bet a lot of it is the massive bushings bmw uses
I was class of 2020 and for our graduation we drove the track since we were still quarantining
Funny model s plaid holds record on this track for a production car. It just has suspension and aero, stock power. But that m4 looks awesome.

when it comes to Porsches its not just rock chip, it's battle scars and each one is a different story to tell
Very cool to see how far you've come and the corkscrew photos/video are insane! Quiet dB days are a bummer, but still valuable for seat time with less people. I recommend a stock/quiet exhaust setup for those days to purely turn laps and set baselines. Louder days and better exhausts only mean you go faster after having more experience!

Even if u don’t want to upgrade your turbo you can switch to port injection which will give you a lot more power and also switching to a air to water cooling would help a ton with heat soak

If you follow some Japanese drifters ... well, it's a thing there too on some tracks.
Sammit had a video where he talked about it, I don't remember which track, but yes, Sound limits are a *thing*.

That m4 deserves some cup suspension so at shows you can air out and make it more physically appealing to the fans but still have the great drivability

This happens all over the country it’s horrible. I live in AZ and Arizona Motorsports Park is literally next to active AFB but the cars have a 92 decibel limit. The AFB and the track have been there longer than the homes

To anyone who wants to run a loud car at laguna, don’t floor it on the uphill straight coming out of turn 5, that’s where the microphone is that they record the db levels. Just maintain throttle and floor it on the following uphill and your good. Can’t run a hot lap but most people don’t care about that

Fyi TJ youre not supposed to use any bug/tar removers dry. You want to do it after you wash the car and while its still wet so you can neutralize the chemicals after by spraying it off. and it will aslo help so you dont drag any of the bugs across the paint swirling it up. Sorry im ocd as i own a detailing company lol.
