    Thank you for uploading. I'm really new to the fishkeeping hobby and am really "green around the gills" (pun intended) so this has helped me as was getting worried about what I'd need. (Also I buy my fish from you guys!!) 😆

    Very good. No waffle, just tells us. I was going to ask if the new water is heated before adding but I see a lot of others have asked the same question

    Do you add the dechlorinator to the tank or the bucket, the camera didn't show it? Do you have to warm the bucket water to the same temp as the tank? Thanks.

    how much water do you remove when doing a water change. i added a quick start to my tank and have to do a-water change at 14 days. is it about 15-20%?

    As was mentioned below, a really good video and well presented. Can I ask if you were putting "cold" water into the tank or had you somehow pre heated it to the tank temperature?

    • @erbrferg
      @erbrferg Před 7 lety +10

      You can use the tap to adjust the temperature to match the tank. I use a digital thermometer to quickly get a read on my tank's temperature and match the tap water to that. Using too cold or too hot water can be harmful to fish.

    I’m so nervous about using mouth to siphon out the water haha. I’ll have 6 small fish and four small frogs, should I transfer them out of a 19 litre tank while I’m doing a water change?

    • @laura101cookies
      @laura101cookies Před 6 lety +2

      wellthatspretty I'm sorry it's a bit of a late response but there's no need to move the animals from their tank, just be gentle around them. Moving them may cause more stress than you siphoning

    • @FKJ_WORLD
      @FKJ_WORLD Před 6 lety

      this is done in some circumstances, but is not advised. You fish may be stressed and may die...

  • @remixandstuff8551
    @remixandstuff8551 Před 7 lety +5

    What if I put my heater off, the water in my tank will be get cold and my warm-fish are gonna die? I also keep my heater on but I never expose my heater out of the water while on, I think. Shall I turn my heater off? Because the water can get cold?

    • @teamhex
      @teamhex Před 7 lety +8

      Water isn't going to lose heat that quickly. It's much denser than air and will keep that heat while you do your water change. It will take some time for the water to circulate and heat up or lose temp. I don't know a lot about fish, but I have a sous vide machine and it has a very large heater(1000w) and a circulatory impeller(exactly like most filter set ups). I have a vessel that uses about 10 gallons of water. I use it for slow cooking ribs and brisket(takes 48hrs, but is amazing).
      If you're worried about the temp of the water you're adding....Your best bet is to prep your fresh water ahead of time and buy a separate heater to put it in. Put it 1-2 degrees above what you want it at. When you pour the water it loses some heat and should be right where you want it. This is just my sous vide experience, but I'm very sure this applies to heating and cooling water in general.

    dude its my first time ever having fish and i'm about a month in, tank got FILLLTHY because I wasn't sure how much to feed. Fish health (1 goldfish) deteriorated. Just did a change and followed the advice, holy balls was it a lot of gunk. Still some left since I couldn't do a full change, but here's hoping thr filter gets the rest 😭

      Make sure your aquarium doesn't have too much fish. Get algea eaters like apple snail and pleco. Plants can be good too. If your tank is big, watch videos for tips for beginners in big tank aquarium. Hope this helps.
