So glad you survived Mel and I hope there are no long term effects. Amazing that you managed to refit & test it when ill. Take your own advice and definitely look after your health Mel, we all need you to be around for a good long time.
This was pretty distressing 😮
Glad your well and that product container is dangerous if not correctly marked up. 👍
Mate hope Your feeling better ,
I couldn’t help but laugh at 5:00 in when you were saying help me
Am stuck 🤣🤣🤣
So sorry you where so unwell, can't believe that there was not enough warning on the product label with the way health and safety is these days, I do hope this is rectified ASAP, and THANK YOU for putting it out there again. Hope you recover quickly Mel you really had us worried.
Great to see you smiling at the end of all that struggling under the van hope you have fully recovered now and look forward to seeing what you get up to next
Mel, great to see some old school fitting going on, but please take care, you never know what's in some of the cleaning chemicals nowadays. Glad you came through the health scare ok, oh and the smile on your face when Mary got her new lease of life 😊
Thanks for the warning hope it didn't impact your long time health.stay Safe
Love to see you in high spirits even though you almost died 😂 great update on the van!
Glad you're still with us Mel. We expect you to go out with far more of a bang, so don't use poison again!
Your tubes are as as the day you were ...Glad yourOK & well done , very helpful
Blimey Mel, glad you're better, sorry you had to go through that. And good news the DPF is better.
I really felt for you stressed under the van, been there doing it ill and wanting to stop.
Glad to see you and van are sorted.
Happy travels
change the wing mirror for the DPF problem, the outside temp sensor may be missing or damaged.
I'm glad you are a bit better, Mel....Big Lesson for us all... Cheers Budd ❤
Informative Vlog. Cheers Mel
Wow! Please take care of yourself Mel. Hope you're feeling better.
Respect man that you tell us about it.
I work with all sorts of chemicals at work. I've learned to check the full data sheets too! the labels on some products can be very lacking! COSHH definitely wins! Glad you're OK Mel!
Tough watch, was feeling terrible for you under that van. I real lesson to always be ultra vigilant no matter the job. Glad you are better Mel!
Hope your feeling better very soon,on the plus side great its done the job 👍
good to see you've better again after all that. will certainly bare this in mind when mines needs doing. Great couple of videos on the subject.
Wow!, I could relate to all that working underneath my vehicle and at times, I have to turn or paused for a bit to rest it out and carry on work. Awesome video and wishing you well and no long time effect from using that Wynns product..Glad to see you smiling at the end of the video with great improvements to your van.
My god, luckily you seem all right again, good warning to all diy-ers (and professionals)
Glad to see your ok bud ❤ not good you think it will say more safety on the back 😢
And I’m glad Mary goes better ❤
Great informative video mate,
Please take care,
Glad you are fine .
Cheers
Stay safe, I used a small chemical outside and it made me feel so sick, was some type of harsh solvent. Will always wear respirator now when dealing with chemicals. You should send Wynns a message and warn them about your situation, I was going to use that a few years back but glad I never!
great job fella saved you a lot of money mercs dealerships are not cheap. glad you never damaged your lungs to badly good luck.
Just goes to show how bad some chemicals are and glad to see you on the mend.
The engine management light won't just go off, you need to tell the van its had a new dpf and reset the parameters aswell like soot and Ash along with reset the differential pressure switch.
@@BigVanSmallWorld if you don't reset the parameter the eolys fluid or diesel depending on what model you have when injected into the dpf will add way more than it needs and could cause your dpf to melt or overheat.
Bloody hell Mel 😢.. We are so glad your feeling better and found the route cause.. Take care of yourself out there.. Oh and we noticed at the end of the video, you wasn't too far away from our house!. 😊
@@BigVanSmallWorld We are. We shall be visiting soon for that cuppa now we've just had the clutch done 😉 😊
Well done Mel'Thanks for the heads up on Chemical cleaner pleased to see you in a better place.
Gentleman on Shorts vids saying seeing a lot of camper sprinters in his worksop owing to sitting idling too long.
Great Helpfull vid.¤
Another great video Mel hope you are on the mend now. You was extremely lucky but great that you have highlighted how dangerous that chemical is and to always go online and double check the safety information I would of done the same to be honest and just read the warning labels on the product
Been lying under my sprinter most of the day too , discs, pads, handbrake shoes, bleeding , I’m too old for this 😂🤔 glad you got yours sorted , stay well
Thanks for sharing this, been thinking of doing it on my VW at some stage. Scary the mistakes we can make from lack of advise re: manufacturer.
Nice work bro
it was fun watching you make the video.. but be careful next time, always use a resparator
Phew Mel, that was worrying. Glad to see at the end of the video that your were "old"self again.
Yes Mel, agree with you, why have all that extra crap on a van to so call, 'clean' the exhaust gases, when all that concentrated crap comes out into the environment when it's cleaned. Glad you are okay. We got our done by a specialist in Turkey. Plus we regularly use a cleaning fuel tank diesel additive to clean our injectors and EGR valve. Best wishes...Tony and Carolyn
Glad you're ok Mel. Sounds horrendous! Get some fresh air detecting on the beach ⛱️
Glad you're feeling better Mel. All these DPF and EGR problems have put me off modern diesel's, I don't do enough miles to keep them clean. Unfortunately getting a modern second hand van that runs on petrol seems impossible these days.
Old vans are simply old...harder to get certain parts for and repairs and maintenance kind of increases with age. I think I'm going back to a petrol car and just use my little foldup ESTEREL caravan 9'x5' when I need a break... Yes back to campsites for the most part 😆
Thanks for the danger tip BUT !!!! Then you stick your head under the van and inhale the fumes from the exhaust !!!!! And what was in the fumes? Winns gas !! Some you Winns some you lose !! Stay safe .
hope you are much better now and be careful in the future as you do not know what is in products we are not scientist are we? thanks for the video
Hello Mr. DIY, I know how a person can get sick from fumes / toxin overload. When I wire brush rusty parts , for example, with out gloves & mask, I'm useless next day. You struggled on and my cap off to you. I owned (3) different VW Transporter Euro vans, but after most of their life was exhausted by a couriour company, I seemed to be doing repairs more than driving them. If I ever need another diesel van, your's would definately be on my radar.
Thanks for your video dispite your feeling so crappy. Hope it's running well for you now.
Great job hope your feeling better i think some jobs are best left to the experts worth paying a few extra bob.😊
Absolute belter ahaha 🙌 love the sprinters Mel everything on them are repairable unlike other vans 👌 we have a 311 and it's just boss
Sometimes after cleaning the dpf you have to use a diagnostic tool to tell the vehicle it has had a new dpf fitted in order to get the vehicles system to reset itself and turn off the engine management light.
How much are we alike, lol. The rag thing is me all over. I am toying with the idea of a DPF & ERG deletion.
Blooooooody hell man 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ # care for the bloody elderly 🤣🤣🤣so glad your ok we was all very worried ❤🫂
enjoyed the video, I know I've nearly ended up in hospital welding around underseal and galvanised metals. very unpleasant experiences. Using high temperature paints on running equipment...and not being given the right safety gear by the professional bosses. Main thing hope no long term damage to yourself as I'd like to see more videos. So subscribing now.
Look after yourself Mel what am I going to watch if we loose you , 😂 serious boyo 👍🏴🇬🇧🇨🇦
That was a bit concerning, but glad you ok and ended with big grin on face 😁
Have DPF on my 2017 Toyota Hilux, which has DPF built in cleaner which occurs every so often. Should I still remove Filter and clean as you have done??
I did wonder when you hosed out the exhaust dpf where all the waste would end up, it didn't look the right method to use
Good to see you on the road to recovery, but risking the troll of the week, you were a bit silly trying to do the exhaust when feeling so unwell and weak. I guess your pleased look and happy expression at the end made all the effort worthwhile, but that unfortunately is the result of using such chemicals. Although not the best for the environment, they are designed to do what it say on the tin, and clean out your DPF, its difficult to have it both ways which is why I suppose some people get the garage to do it. Fair play to your persistence, it paid off. Take care and happy travels.
Worry lack of info on the product, surely the label should match the COSH data sheet? You did well to finish the job given you were ill. Look after yourself. 👍😎
Wow Mel, that was painful to watch mate! Time will tell if things are fixed I guess. Interesting about the gear shifting. Most model tranny ecm's will learn your driving habits e.g. After a winter and defensive driving, the shift patterns shorten up. So now you've cleared code etc etc and the engine management is tip top, plus you like caned the snot out of her, the shifting is more responsive and smoother..... anywho, thanks what we found after a canadian winter! 😊
Hope you're back firing on all cylinders Mel 😂
DPF's are coated matrix reaction chambers. Blasting water through them collecting particles and then abrading those particles along the rest of the tract is well damaging. The matrix is just like the casing, a structure, it's the micron coating on the matrix that does the work and because it's a matrix you get lots of surface area. Hey, 3 cheers for having a go and you'll certainly feel the improvement of flow, but effectiveness of the DPF will be far from normal. I'd probably suggest a high temperature oven over chemical and kinetic flushing. Reverse flow is a great approach. Finally take care and thanks for sharing the experience, the safety will help others to come.
actually planning to clean my Renault trafic dpf this weekend using Wynnes cleaner. Thanks for the heads up.[OLD BOY ,NOT MUCH ON HEALTH AND SAFETY } ]
I am 68 and love working on my car but lying on back doing exhaust is bloody hard work. That’s not for me. Glad your ok, take it easy.
I have driven a Merc Vito London Taxi for 11 years, chugging around in stop start traffic all day. These are the perfect conditions for getting a blocked PDF. Probably one of the most frequent engine management lights to illuminate on a diesel is for a blocked PDF. The amount of drivers that I met that had this problem was astonishing. Especially those that drove a TX type of taxi and who hardly ever drove above 30mph. I never once had to clean the PDF on my Vito in the way you have on your Sprinter. The solution to happy motoring is to only use low ash engine oil. Always change the oil and air filters and regularly go for a 10 minute thrash at 70mph down the motorway. The thrash down the motorway is very important, this is mentioned in the owners handbook. ( Does anybody bother to read them?)The purpose is to burn off all the accumulated sooty particulates in the PDF. By doing this you are cleaning the PDF in the way the manufacturer intended; and yes, everyone that lives next to the coast bound A2 gets all of the sooty particles from the diesels that have been driving around London all day!.
Wishing you well. I recommend looking into the Terrain Model of health and detox. The more I learn about these diesel emissions systems the more I think it's all a circle jerk. It seems better to just spew straight diesel exhaust into the air then to employ all these complicated systems that only seem to delay the toxic stuff from ending up in our ecosystems.
I used a different brand of nasty stuff, I wore googles, respirator and gloves and was very careful to avoid any direct exposure to these toxic chemicals.
I just remembered the authors of "What Really Makes You Ill" live in your country, great resource for understanding how take care of oneself.
Was the bolt you welded in Zinc plated, because if you breathe the fumes from that it can make you very sick
Glad to see your on the mend Mel. Im so sorry but couldnt help laugh when your under the van putting the dpf back on and your saying "help me im stuck" 😂😂😂 so bad but so funny you must have been quite high on the fumes at this moment aswell.
Good job mate 🤘💪
What diagnostic tool you use 🤔 I'm looking for diagnostic tool for my Sprinter 2014
If your engine's performance is hampered by for example a clogged DPF, the transmission's logic gets confused and it will shift at points that are not optimal for what you're trying to do. That will cause the ride to be less smooth as it could be.
O’Riley’s use the Launch water soluble DPF cleaner . He doesn’t mention anything about toxicity.
OMG! that's quite dangerous
👍👍
A few things.
1/ use Hydra Maxim fuel additive, it’s amazing for all things diesel. Genuinely works as tested on my Volvo xc70 D5 with 240,000 miles.
2/ consider a carnivore diet for a month or two you’ll feel better.
3/ headaches are usually caused by salt imbalance, so by some electrolytes and take daily.
Very sorry to hear that. Just came accross your video. I have just used the same product a few days ago and used gloves, no eye protection.
The warning should say to use gloves, mask and eye protection. If only I known or taken more care.
If you work on/ open up your dpf you always wear a mask, even without the cleaner
Everything i use in my camper van you will find here in my Amazon Store www.amazon.co.uk/shop/melsvanworld
