Blue pipe is ABS, the grey one is UPVC. ABS is stronger and shock resistance. ABS pipe used for pressure application, its a dumb move to replace it with PVC. Basically your contractor are smart, can easily con you guys. Get educated to avoid being conned. UPVC only tested up to 11BAR, ABS is tested for 15Bar

Hi there. Thank you for your input. We decided to change our pipes only after consulting several other contractor and architect friends of ours who aren’t linked to our renovation company. We’ve also considered the fact that most of our neighbours here shared their experience with having leaking pipes after staying for only 2-3years, as this is a fairly new neighbourhood. While ABS is indeed a tougher material, it is also very rigid which leads to it being more susceptible to hairline cracks. Based on our understanding, both ABS and PVC pipes have their major pros and cons, and it all boils down to preference and suitability of use in certain project conditions. 👍👍

@@HouseOfTiew @House Of Tiew the issue with pipe leaking in your neighborhood is because the developer cut cost by using sub par abs pipe. My house is 15 years old with abs pipe and using pump for rain shower, non-issue.. another issue with hairline fracture is because of the foundation problems, there is structurel movement, blame the developer who cut cost, don't blame the pipe.. if your foundation still settling, no matter what pipe you use, it will still crack.. don't blindly believe what contractor say, and never take advice from architect, they practically useless when comes to material choice, understand the basic problem why the is hairline crack.. based on what you said, water department in Malaysia must be really dumb to choose abs pipe for their distribution network since it's rigit and easily cracked.. well, it your house..good luck.. anyway, the footing for your rear extension is not correctly done, the supporting wall will crack soon as it is not intended for load bearing

Hi there, thanks for dropping by! We’ll be uploading a costing estimates video in the near future, so do keep an eye out for that! It is quite difficult for us to isolate the cost of just the plumbing and wiring, as the quotations from our contractor was quite messy and has been revised several times. Our best estimate would be that we spent around RM50k in this aspect.
