Mini Cooper S Hardtop: What's New For 2022?

- This week I drove and reviewed a brand new 2022 Mini Cooper S 2-door! This is essentially my favorite Mini model (aside from the JCW) and I go through some of the changes that were made for this facelifted F56 Hardtop!!
I like almost all the changes they've made, especially the modernized exterior, massively improved infotainment, and even the simplified steering wheel!
A fun "go-kart" feel and a whole lot of character... all for just a touch over $30k as equipped -- not bad!

This is the first time I've visited this channel and (even though I'm in the UK so some of the content isn't relevant due to general differences in car culture and also model-specific differences to our market) I just want to note that the reviewer's delivery is fantastic. He's not trying too hard to be a "car reviewer", clearly doesn't feel the need to be brash and OTT like too many do, and is naturally very watchable. Cheers!

Thanks for the review! I'm picking up my new Mini Cooper S tomorrow after noon. Similar options as the one in this review but British Racing Green with White top/mirrors and the darker Anthracite headliner. Can't wait!
That is a super clean spec!! I love British racing green... and especially on British vehicles! The dark headliner would be a personal must for me!! Did you go with auto?
@@Reoniz Thanks! I went with an automatic. First time having it in a Mini for me. (I've had 3 others off and on over the last 18 years, all standard.) But my job involves a lot of driving, often sitting in traffic, and I'm kind over spending 30-60 minutes riding a clutch alternating between 1st & 2nd gear. 😐 Regardless, very excited to get it. 😁

@@Reoniz Thanks! I picked it up this after noon and spent quite a bit of time messing with all the settings and controls. Wireless CarPlay is pretty sweet. Just got back from a quick night drive. Sport mode is a blast. Also the headlights in this car are fantastic. My last one was a 2011 and I always thought the headlights were pretty weak.
@@Darthwriter 2014 and onward MINI's (if optioned with LED's) have some of the best headlights in the business! Congrats on your new ride and remember to "motor hard" 😂
I'm getting an all black mini cooper s sport trim in the UK 🇬🇧, which has the Nav Pack and comfort Pack (false truck floor) like the one you review it also has the JCW aerodynamic kit on it and JCW sports alcantera seats . Looks very aggressive and stealthy in all black. Should be with me in October. Great review btw

hey there! i have a question for you. I will be purchasing a mini cooper (not s) on monday and I have configured everything to be black: exterior; wheels, paint, door handles and dark tinted windows and interior; black leather seats etc. Now as you can tell i loveeee that black on black on black design, minimalst clean... my question: what do you think about the interior ceiling being dark? i know that the standard is the tan roof lining.. what would you prefer with all the other features being black? do you think it would give it some levity to keep it bright or would it break the black on black look? (asking about your personal opinion, i know it's a preference thing haha)

Love the new Copper S but not the top of the range too much. Have a manual and go for a standard version of the JCW.

I am going to trade in my 2020 and am disappointed that I don’t see the white silver available on the “Build Your Own” Mini USA website. Even checking dealership inventories online I can’t find one. Oh well “Happy Motoring.”

It's only 7k cheaper than A class petrol in my country...don't you think it's stupid to pick it over A class?
It’s definitely not super comfortable for tall ppl. My boyfriend is 6’3 250 and his biggest complaint is getting in and out my car…. And his head is about half an inch to an inch from touching the roof… Lol…. However, I’m 5’9 190 and I find my car very comfortable and easy to get in and out of.
Ya I have a good time in there at 6'2... but getting in and out is the worst part 😔

Is mini an English car or a German? He said a couple of times that BMW owns mini, which is a German brand and the tail lights are like England Flag, scratching my head here.
Both are true... the heritage of Mini is certainly British, but it's owned and operated by BMW -- thus sharing parts, engines, and even platforms with BMW models. This blurs the line, but ya, both.
