Everything you see i have purchased myself, this gives me complete control to voice my honest opinion about any product
Just day to day sparky videos
If you like it, that’s cool, if you don’t, that’s cool as well.
Remember, context is important, I can’t show/film every part of every test otherwise I’d still be there now😂just assume I’ve carried it out correctly
Another great video.
Not really any/many videos showing testing with metal conduit installations.
I see this working in social housing properties.
Testing rings with metal conduit as earthing really confuses people.
When I show newer electricians & apprentices I use the following on ring circuits with metal conduit;
1, End to end continuity test on r1
2, End to end continuity test on rn
3, Continuity test r2 using wander lead method
4, Live Zs tests on sockets/accessories (possibly will include RCD uplift)
If consumer unit has RCDs installed then:
5. Zs on supply side of RCD. Note reading.
6. Zs on load side of RCD. Note reading.
7. Load side Zs reading minus supply side Zs reading = RCD uplift
8. Deduct the RCD uplift from the live Zs reading test on the socket ring
Not deducting the RCD uplift could potentially make your Zs readings over the limit in the bs7671 Zs charts.
Even then taking into account that a 30mA RCD has a maximum of 1667 Ohms Zs the RCD would then be providing fault protection & additional protection.
Looking forward to your video on the consumer unit change & then the retesting.
All the best.
👍🏻
Conduit systems so far is nice to work with , especially if you need to rewire it’s lovely
✌🏻✌🏻
Gotta admit, I came across this type of installation a while ago and was a little stumped.. This really helped 👌Nice one!!
Glad it helped!
Great Video,Stuff was well made in the 60s better than today with cheap plastics.
Haven’t been around there since zoo closed.
👍🏻👍🏻
Great video about dealing with testing old school semi enclosed fuse BS 3036👍
Thanks
You only have to see the difference between a brass bush from that installation compared to one of today and they are half the thickness no wonder we need an additional cpc.
Too true, the new ones are soooooo thin in comparison
I had a CU upgrade quote a few months ago, very similar in a flat all CPC was conduit. Main bond was conduit back to service head and tails were 10mm going to 1st floor meter cupboard. Board was an old MEM and was recessed. No way that new tails could be pulled in, customer wanted new board recessed. I'll be honest I bailed on that one!
😅😅
Good video Bristol - keep up the content
Thanks, will do!
Metal conduit and ring finals really confuse some when it comes to testing😂 They only ever teach using the R1R2 method for testing them
😂😂😂
Loving your videos and hoping to see you fit the rcbo board
Quota has been accepted so I’ll do a video when I do it👍🏻
Thank you
Perfect practice
You are welcome!
Great video kid✔️👍👌
Thank you 👍
In London this is very common, it’s a nightmare to do additions to singles and metal conduit in some of the properties
In all those high rise flats, I bet it is!
@@bristolsparky concrete ceilings are delightful 🙄🙄 nice video though mate 👍
Did you say that its easycert you used here? What device is it installed onto, looks a lot clearer than the desktop version
Easycert on ipad
Wylex CU built like a tank metal enclosure, two terminal screws, what the fu...k happened ?
No idea🤷♂️
is that on the downs?
Yeah
@@bristolsparky there used to be a maintenance guy for those blocks who was quite grumpy and you weren’t allowed to use powertools at lunch time … don’t know if it’s still like that but I’ve done a few apartments up
There over the years .
