- In August 2017, the All Blacks scored 40 points in a breath-taking first half against Australia in Sydney. Is this the greatest ever 40 minutes of rugby played by the All Blacks?

This is the game where sonny bil gets knocked out clean in the first few mins and no one noticed and he got up and made another tackle. Legend
Just dangerous IMO
How was this missed? It was obvious he was out of it. Hard boy though 👊
He wasn't knocked out but obviously took a hit to the head.
any time stamp or this is from the second half?
@@ioanis6718 2:08 goes in for a tackle and he must of hit the opponents hip too hard and comes out of it all wobbly and and disoriented
@2:10 Sonny is out to it and still making tackles. What a machine.
Mate, he’s the man
he staying out the way so he’s not offside if he got hit from the pass from the 9
A real hard second tackle. He needed the penalty break there. He was fucking rocked
@@dylski6229 he was completely rocked dude
Absolute machine and legend.
We badly miss Liam squire. Absolutely the kind of 6 we need now
Ben the accountant, what a player.
Best high ball collector is between Ben Smith and Christian Cullen
@@MrMiratanaHey. You can’t leave out Israel Folau
@@lesblase3667 I meant from NZ but hell yeah... Folau is a beast under the ball. My 2 fave Aussie backs ever are Folau and Matt Rogers.
Ben the trouble shooter.
My fav player. He does everything and gets in amongst it.
@@MrMiratana Jeff Wilson was better than Cullen under a high ball. Wilson is who Ben looked up to
Crotty was such a good player,so reliable and consistent
He can’t remember his all blacks career thanks to concussions so you couldn’t say it was worth it.
@@andyhunter5869 Your point is irrelevant to the comment you’re replying to. And Crotty is juuuuust fine.
One of the hardest tasks in World Sport , to beat the New Zealand All Blacks . The most winniest side in world sports history. The All Blacks are the most successful international men’s rugby side of all-time with a winning percentage of 77.41% over 580 Tests (1903-2019). Since October 2003, when World Rugby introduced a rankings system, the All Blacks have held the number one position for over 80% of the time. From 2009 to December 2018, the All Blacks held the number one position in the World Rugby rankings.
The side also claimed World Rugby’s Team of the Year title on seven consecutive occasions from 2010-2016.
That last pass by A.Smith. Perfection!
He's been an amazing passer for the All Blacks for so long, I'll miss that pass
Greatest passing halfback ever. Unparalleled precision and technique.
Michael Hooper plays some excellent rugby as usual. the only player for Australia to go 200percent all day
I'm an All Black supporter all day long but yes Michael Hooper is one hell of a good player and gives everything every time he walks on the field.
All day, every day! The guy is class
@@zavirca I'm also a kiwi and a hardcore all black supporter but this guy is always on top of our guys relentlessly weather it's a back or a forward I wish Australia select more like him. Chur bro
English and adore the bloke. Class is class, regardless of nationality
Absolutely. He will go down as one of the greats of rugby. You know he's so good because he's pretty much been performing above and beyond consistently for years in some pretty average teams. Imagine what he could have done in a decent team. He always has kind words to say to the opposition after a win or defeat. A class act on and off the field.
I still rate the game at athletic park in the rain back un 1996 against oz
I remember that game in the rain well. ABS played dry weather rugby in the driving rain.
You can see the All Blacks constantly strategising, having discussions during the small breaks to make improvements. They deserved it because of the determination.
Look how sbw was rocked he was out an mange to make another 2 more tackles that's heart right there take a bow sbw
Real smart!
36:48 You can hear Aaron Smith cheering even before Sonny Bill scores 😆
Always! Always. Best halfback one can ever have
Very often we can hear his cheeky laugh, I really love his enthusiasm on the field, not even mentioning his very high rugby IQ.
@@RogerBiwandu And the accuracy of his passes is unbelievable
You can hear Aaron Smith lots of times.
As an opposing player this is really annoying 😂😂😂
RU is at it's absolute best when you start the game and it's multiple phases of backs-to-forwards and both driving up the field with some production at the end of it all.
I always liked Liam squire.
Tuff bugger.
Absolutely. Does all the dirty work right. And can contribute on the scoresheet as well 💪
we missed him at the '19 RWC
too injury prone now
He’s a broken man and like Norm Maxwell, Craig Clarke and James Ryan he’s going to have a shit life thanks to the injuries he sustained during rugby.
@@andyhunter5869 Don't know about Craig Clarke, but Norm Maxwell seems to have a fulfilled life. He's doing great work running an experienced based learning programme for children. And last that I heard, James Ryan is a practising lawyer in Wellington.
Tuve la maravillosa suerte de verlo en directo!!! Geniales los All Blacks!!
SBW’s offloads never get old
Wow second one to comment
What a beast of a team
The excitement and charge is indescribable - and so it will remain 👊🔥
39:16 SBW “Make some tackles ya little cunt” 🤣
Amazing quality of team work
love it when the AB's score a point a minute
What is AB. I am new to rugby. At first I thought you were talking about ab de Villiers
@@madhavmittal7332 all blacks
This is the game where SBW showed the world he’s one of the best centre’s of all time. Skill, heart, determination, leadership and fortitude.
Hmmm I would say Crotty was the MVP in the midfeild in this 40.
Another Great AB’s team ! Thanks
This video was cool
You watched it fast
What an absolute behemoth half from Retallick
Love watching great athletes
SWB - Fav sportsman of all time 💯
SBW never disappointed. The bloody heart of this man.
I'd genuinely say he's one of the most underrated All Blacks ever, despite being one of the most well known. His ability to draw in multiple defenders and then get off a quick off load lead to so many tries, especially during the 2015 World Cup
Utterly sublime! A somewhat impressed northern European observer.
Somewhat? NH teams don't score this many point in a whole match combined lol...
@@KiwiPepega he says, after France and Ireland dicked on NZ in the last year
@@KiwiPepegaWe perhaps missed his point. He compliments the game. How or why he was impressed is irrelevant.
Michael Hooper of Australia is a Champ.
Miss him the most out of the Aussie side. Love from an AB’s fan.
For me it's the 2015 vs France, 1st half (even though my name is also Ioane). This might be high level, but I watched that game live and I remember being shocked
Was there that day and was most emotional I was ever best at a test match. That is the half that came to my mind when I saw that headline, the 2nd half was the real good one as All Black supporter. . This was a pretty good first half though. A very good team performer oh wowow
27:00 "Well getting a lot of practice kicking from halfway is Bernard Foley" 😆
A thing of beauty
Me, in the 9th minute: lol best 40 min of ab rugby ever, the fucking day
me in the 24th minute: ME OH MY I AM ENJOYING THIS YES BOY
7-6 to nz after 16mins...
Every time Mckenzie's on the team, our attack goes up a notch, caused problems for the Aussies most underrated player. Glad he made the 2023 All Blacks.
Great memories, I was at this match, ABs fell asleep in the second half
Sublime
Awesome sir name
Wow! Fair play to the Aussies, they to play, and didn't get that much wrong. I pray to the rugby Gods that we get some footie being played at the World Cup. Come on ABs, love and respect t from Scotland
Retallick-what a beast! Superb half by the AB's.
Yes a fantastic half of rugby-quality from both side actually but AB’s a real class. Whether best ever, not sure but certainly up,there and silly thing is I had to rewatch to appreciate how good it was as this team played some fantastic Ruby after losses of personnel after 2015 World Cup and for next two years were still magnificent.
Can’t wait in 2022
The only team who can regularly put big scores on quality opposition.
Damn shame about Squire’s retirement. He’ll go down as one of the great “what ifs”
Hooper probably will too, the guy who was always a head and shoulders above his team mates.
We need hard men like him. The AB's were a different team than today with him in the squad
Excellent ref too. Well done all.
Folau always looking dangerous
Shame he threw is career away.
@@cm2877 he didnt throw his career away
@@shiroism8039 Really? So, who's he playing for? Which elite team is he with ? which code will take him now ? Arguably australia's best player, now plays for who ? No doubt, he definitely set fire to his career.
@@cm2877 while I do not agree with the views that Folau posted, he has the right to post those views. If what he said was so incomprehensibly wrong why is Christianity still allowed?
The Wallabies haven't been the same team since he departed.
@@tomrecord2507 I agree Australia is not the same, but if you are a professional athlete in a worldwide sport representing the people of Australia and paid extremely well for that position, you do not have the right to express your internal thoughts. Be a pastor , be a blog writer , start a damn CZcams channel, don’t be an idiot.
The fact sportsmen are seen as role models is crazy in itself (another story altogether). This is the reality of life on the internet. Think it, don’t preach it.
Early 2000s bledisloe cup match where Roccoco scored 3 tries i would argue to be one of the best matches as well. Nice vid
It's ROKOCOKO
Nice win 🥇
this all blacks team looks so much better than todays all blacks team.
and people in NZ think barrett can't run a game......i love mo'unga as well, both are great options
Agreed I'd like to see Barrett get some starts this tournament. He deserves to show if he can do it again.
@@sports2hedz542 Barrett is long past it.
Barrett's prime is over in 2019 he couldn't handle the pace of the wallabies or Springboks
But yes in 2016-2018 he was number 1 world wide
Aaron Smith was the best halfback I ever saw, close with Justin Marshall.. we are going to miss him moving forward in 2023
I agree about bashop but don't think he won a world cup
Carter best 10 ever then? lol won 2 and probably should have won 3 world cups if he wasn't injured in France 2007
Dont know if its the greatest 40 mins ever... no DC no McCaw, I enjoyed the boks v Abs 2013 game in SA best game i have ever seen. Although beating wallabies in 2015 wc final was satisfyingly sweet
Theyre both greats, but greatest moment doesnt necessarily have greatest players
he he hyperbole from the poster, that's for sure - 'efficient' would be a closer description but not so many people would click on that
The game from the 7 September 2013? DO you have a link to a replay on youtube (couldn't find any)
Boks vs AB's 2013 in Johannesburg is the best game I've seen as well
You're right.
You don't know.
37:28 you love to see that from AS
I would say the 90 minutes against France in 2015 was the greatest All Black's performance.
Mon equipe de toujours
Credit to the Wallabies, they were throwing the kitchen sink at the All Blacks in front of a home crowd. But the ABs were just on fire. One of the most high intensity halves i’ve seen.
Michael Cheika is my spirit animal
20'17 was the year thoooo
For me.... vs the boys in 2017... 57-0 Amazing first half...
What was FT score at the end?
😂🤣 I always use to love chieka rage moments can always read what his lips are always saying.. SBW mvp
Moody is the MAN!!!
Team today is missing the impact of someone like squire!
Was thinking the same.
2020 death rate was the lowest its been in 70 year's.
But the main stream media devil's brainwashed everyone to believing that in 2020 we had the most deaths ever and viruses are killing people like flies,
Yet we just must have more lock downs to keep us safe and oh yes the media need more money to terrorize us about everyone dying in 2020
I feel like people who are blind are so blind its not worth talking to them.
Which of the 3 games is this? 1 or 2 maybe?
that first 2 mins was just insane wah!
...massive overstatement... pretty scratchy performance by both teams...
just say its one of those nights ABs love to just dominant hahahaha
All Blacks backline play is fast and skillfull compared to now. Clearly see the difference in coaching ability between Wayne Smith and Ian Foster.
The coach was Steve Hanson 😂😂
@@deeezzznutzzz2623 Attack coach was Wayne Smith during the dominant All Blacks era from 2012-2017. Since then it has been Foster. You can clearly see the significant decline in the All Blacks attacking prowess since Foster took over from Wayne Smith.
@@stealthpakfa Wayne Smith was the defence coach though?
Arrogant Cantabrians think they run NZ. Pull your heads in or you might get in knocked off.
ABs lost their skills coach and that made a loss can't remember his name but an aussie never quite as polished after
...wow, those were the days, it seems like forever since they appointed the curren't incompetenet coach. So many of us are looing forward to a winning coach starting next year who will be able to rebuild the All Black's once high standards of excellence.
watching this game shows how much we are missing a crotty / smith type of player in the midfield!
What was Sonny saying at the end of the scrap? Something about looking forward to the next tackle, "you little stunt"?
Came for the boomfa, wasn't disappointed!
40 mins haha yeah almost a decade of magic! That's coming from a South African. NZ embodies the spirit of Rugby.
A bit of ye old Razzle-Dazzle 😎 Marshie's favourite line!
Brilliant It’s like watching an NRL game. If only more Internationals were as good as this.
Look. All. These. Year. A. Bs. Never. Stop running the. ball side by. Side. Is. Macnificent there. Style on. The. Field I. Keep. Saying. This. ABs. Still. The. Best God bless. Out team merry. Christmas
I think the 40 minutes of the game against France in the semis of the 2015 RWC is a much better game, the whole game, but the first 40 set the tone for the drubbing that was to follow.
2:07 - Watch for SBW getting KO'd and still maintains mission focus.
Far out. Just vaguely remember this match. 2:30 and Smash, Crash, Crunch!
“Too fast Ioane”. Good nickname from the commentator that should have stuck.
the 4 black is enormous player...!
2:10 sbw already getting ko
Well spotted!

13:25 oz ways. They never attack on front foot. Since early 90s. What a buzz kill attitude
short answer, and with the benefit of hindsight, no, in my opinion, having just watched your highlights here of the opening 20 minutes of the Boks test in Auckland. - traditionally a sterner opponent and goodness what a scorching start -.. anyway go the ABs!
DMac at his best. People saying he's not worthy of being an All Black need to refresh their memories.
Not sure how Sonny Bill Williams didn't get HIA tested after being knocked out in the 2nd minute
Sonny Bull Williams I’ll give credit where it’s due....he’s good! Real good!
He’s up there with Thorn Whitelock Fitzpatrick as players!
Curious that I recall forwards but there are great AB backs too many to mention.
Agree. You’re watching the real man of steel
39:15 SBW
in the states here, when a team can do so much right against a team like the ABs, and sooner than later that team does a monumental FOUL UP, that team is called SNAKEBIT. no matter what they do, they are gonna get bit right in the arse.
Omg
Croty pure class.
Who is the AB's hairdresser? it looks like they were all dragged into the shearing shed
Fallout looked dangerous 24/7
At a recent psyc test, the Doc asked me what makes me happy. I replied, "Dejected Aussie rugby players".
Everyone saying Sonny was rocked then made 2 more tackels must be blined... he was rocked but the first "tackle" was just him in the way look at him... doesn't even know where he is completely stunned the other player was already going down
Ryan Crotty, Ben Smith, Sonny Bill, Kieran Read, Owen Franks, Richie McCaw, Ma Nonu, Kaino these are just a handful of players you know will step up day in n day out, even on a bad day (not in form) - which is rarely. But the AB team i see now.. are just a shadow of themselves.
Damn i forgot about the boss Izzy Dagg
Clear forward pass at 12:22
8:33 Incredible sliding tackle by Foley there.
Did justin marshell select this 40 mins, it's pretty clear its not so why the false title
SBW was a tormentor. The whole défense was setup to counter him
Facts
And the defence still leaked 40 points in a half 😂😂
Seeing this makes me think how much better our semi final team against england could have been. No Ben smith, crotty, ioane and dmac, not to mention barrett at ten
Maybe.. but on that day England played possibly their greatest 80 minutes of rugby in their history, i somehow think it wouldnt've mattered. Cant wait till the ABs play them again but for now looking foward to the 100th Springboks v All Blacks game in Townsville ✊
I hate to say it bro but we got outplayed and out coached that day. England done an All Blacks on us. Must give credit where credits due bro. One of the best games of union I've ever seen. Hurts to say it but it's true
what happened was leading up to the world cup the ABs lost blediesloe 1 quie heavily against the wallabies. They conceded 47 points that game. Ben Smith and Reiko got axed. Bridge and Reece became the first choice wingers
@@laurieclark6652 then they played probably thier worst 80 ever in the final 🤣 💀
