Do you want to know how to make the most incredible model river with amazing white water effects? Follow my step-by-step tutorial and you'll be making a hyper-realistic river in the time it takes to say 'I get cool rewards because I support High Eye Workshop on Patreon!'
For this diorama I employed my standard materials of 2-part epoxy resin for the river and Mod Podge for the ripples, but I added crystal clear polymer caulking thinned with isopropyl alcohol to sculpt larger rapids and then highlighted these with Vallejo Ground Texture 'Snow' paste and Vallejo Ice/Snow, which is a very thick and fast-drying acrylic.
These combine to make amazing water effects, but as usual I wanted even more realism, so just as in Making a Scene Vol 3 'How to make and AMAZING model river' I also modelled the river bed with stones, boulders, moss and other materials.
This diorama tutorial also covers making a weeping willow tree, using a wire armature tree as seen in my video 'The ULTIMATE wire tree'. I also demonstrate my use of the Hot Wire Foam Factory Hot Knife, and how I apply Sculptamold, static grass and layered ground cover, including Woodland Scenics Fine Turf and Coarse Turf.
Primarily, though, it's about modelling ultra-real water effects.
This diorama took about 11 hours to build. The white water probably took 4 of those.
Thanks for watching. I hope you enjoy the video!
Many of the materials and tools I use come with safety instructions. Please always read and follow these rather than simply copy what you see me or other people doing. - Zábava
This guy is insane. Some of your shots look like actual photos of running water. Incredible.
Its looks like something ILM would have done in the 70s/80s orbthat I'd see if a Model Railroading magazine about scenics. So amazing.
Dude. That's insane. This has to be the most real looking model white water river I've seen yet.
Yes
He is totally a talented man
in total agreement.

When I saw the video I didn’t really know about dioramas so I thought this was REAL so probably a good sign
It is obvious you loved this project -- the resulting rolling river is AHHHH-MAAAZING!!
Thank you 😊
I just found one of these hyper realistic models in my recommended and now I’m addicted to these videos
I love it how he starts from a simple foam and turns into a very realistic miniature sceneries...
I'm not even a modeler and still I was transfixed. Great job and exceptional talent. Hat's off to you.
Thank you 😊
I wish I could just shrink and live inside your little models. They're so calming to look at.
Completely captivated! I won't even pause it to take a much-needed bathroom break!
Please do 😂
@@HighEyeWorkshop Haha. I ended up waiting until the video was over. It was like that great book that you just couldn't put down. The results of your work are so amazing! Jawdropping, in fact. It's something that I'll have to work up to. Not due to lack of skill. I'm sure I can crush a project like this, now that I know how it is done, thanks to you. But I see there are a lot of products that go into such a beautifully realistic creation. None of which I already have at home. So I'll have to build up my arsenal after lots of researching and price comparing. Thank you so very much for sharing. I subscribed in the first 5 minutes of watching, so I'm going to check out your other videos now.
This video watched directly by the soul
That’s as beautiful as a picture but nothing is a beautiful as real life
Its 3 am ..didnt sleep to watch this masterpiece..cheers from iran
If only there were more videos. Keep up the good work
Outstanding work
Nice job - best part of a build slapping on sculptamold 😂
Once I get the necessary supplies, I have to do at least one of these. Things like this really bring life to a room
Unreal man...speechless....
I can’t believe how wonderful and Realistic this work is 10 thumbs up 👍 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Out standing. ..
Thanks Brian
The realism is stunning .. jaw dropping incredible !!
Thanks Sharon
a wonderful river again
You sir are a true artist
Beautiful looks so realistic
Thanks Tammy
Your welcome
This is the kind of art that I love. The randomness of nature means that the details make it.
I watch one of your videos every night before I go to sleep, I've never seen or known anything else that has given me such content and peace. You are helping people in ways more than you'd ever know
Thank you
Thank you so much. I started making these because I found watching videos like this so relaxing when I was suffering with mental health issues, so I'm so happy to know you find them helpful.
@@HighEyeWorkshop 💖 😊
if i had the space to make rivers, i would be doing them all the time. there’s just something about blowing the mod podge around that makes it so fun.
best water effects I've seen in modeling. Really first class.
that's some nice, looking water.
I'd love to see a creation of Loch Ness or Morar with Nessie and or a Kelpie.
Fantastic - great fun to watch. The water looks excellent but I also like the way you made weeping willow. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing job!
Wow. That looks insanely photo-realistic.
I came here from Boylei Hobby Time's recommendation on one of his videos. Wow. I am impressed! That looks amazing.
Excellent build !....
Thanks 😊
" I gave it a Noch on the back" hahaha
Absolutely beautiful
A Bonsai-ic piece of Art. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Stefan
Very impressive, like a 3D oil painting !!
Brilliantly executed
Watched this entire video with my mouth open, drooling a bit onto my notepad. This is the best choreographed and edited lesson on CZcams, bar none. If anyone has difficulties with painting oceans (esp Atlantic Ocean that changes on a blink) and seas and beaches, this video has incredible instructions on color and form and even lighting (with the glossy resin mix). So impressed, will watch again and again as a master class. Thank you so very much ... lovely background music (not intrusive), terrific audio balance, the closed captioned details, and straight-forward product info ... wow. Checking out Patreon right now!
Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful commen. I'm so glad the video helped you!
One of the finest dioramas Ive ever seen. This video is really really good. You can learn a lot of techniques and learn about a lot of products and what you can do with them. I guess the 48 thumbs down were a result of jealousy. Peace
Robert Ray, true, so much information. I’ve never seen that type of foam before, for example.
Luke Towan is another great CZcams channel with similar results like this one! I'm not sponsoring him by the way.
Allways some jealous trolls unfortunally. Just ignore them and carry on is my tip.
36 of them were just angry that they couldn't get permission to go fishing there.
I heard a couple of them mumbling about it being a "hotspot" or something.
Wow super realistic model 😲. Keep making these beautiful models. Stay connected friend. Big thumbs up 👍❤️💯
I love the static grass application / effect 😯. Looks great x
It's messy, but fun!
@@HighEyeWorkshop 👍😀 x
Oh my gosh using bark for rocks is a genius idea!!
As somebody who has had to make all kinds of landscapes/debris-scapes etc over the decades I have to say this is one of the very best and deeply nuanced builds I've ever seen (and, as they say, I've seen a lotI). Beautiful work. I am now dealing with making a miniature alien-ish jungle that has to "behave" in reaction to high winds and lashing rains (jangling leaves, vines etc), that has to hold together for quite a while under a lot of physical, mini-storm torture without disintegrating (or at least with minimal disintegration). It has to work in moderate forced perspective...I sure look forward to the continued work on this...and find your detail, patience and acute visual skills a real inspiration (Also confirms that I am not the one lone landscape "nut" around). Thank you for your extraordinary posting.
Thank you so much! That means a lot.
I am stunned at the beauty and realism in your water. I have seen a bit of modeled water and non matches your work here. Amazing!
The whole project is incredible but that water is next level awesome!!!
Thank you so much
Fantastic job from one modeler to another.
Wonderful so beautiful nature
Reminds me of flyfishing for trout in Colorado. Simply amazing.
I thought I saw a trout jump by one of the rapids.
Incredible.
Thanks Sharon
You really make me want to start making dioramas, such a wonderful medium.
wow just wow! great job!
Cheers Brian
Incredibly realistic!
O M G!!!! This is BEAUTIFUL!!! THANK YOU!!!
😲😲😲
Dude, you're extremely talented. I'm currently making a diorama and I've just been bingeing your videos for tips because you obviously know what you're doing.

A very gifted artist with nice voice. Loved it.
Kind words. Thank you!
Really awesome!!
That is utterly amazing
very nice work. congratulations
Amazing. Most realistic. Thanks for sharing this video. Greetings from Germany.
Excellent. I think your water effects are getting better each time. This was super realistic.
Thank you. I'm trying different types of water and materials to try to prove you can make water many ways and end up with a great result.
Simply stunning; the water is ultra realistic, thank you for sharing x
Thank you 😊
This is absolutely breathtaking.
Unparalleled beauty!
Thanks!
LOL This is a killer one! LOVE IT!
Hello Merrick, another wonderful tutorial. The rolling river is absolutely stunning. Thanks. See ya next time.
Superb.
I love this river
jaw dropping when it comes to life
Watching the river transform as the resin poured was soooo satisfying.
Scary to do it, though!
Beautiful very realistic, your a true artist.
Hi, the resulting water was stunning, certainly looks real. A lot of time and skill. Thanks for posting .
Brilliant!
Thanks Frances
I've never seen anything like this. Wholly cow!

You should be working for a museum or something. Really, great eye to see that and then make it.
Speechless, beautiful work!
Thanks!

Satisfying video..love it..just love it

@@HighEyeWorkshop can i have a request?..can you do a mount climbing diorama?..just a suggestion anyway 😁
I offer some.of my Patrons the chance to help direct the channel, but a mountain might be one of the options 😊
It is absolutely crazy how talented and patient you are! Your models make great inspiration and give off such a wonderful vibe. The model itself is so detailed and amazing. Keep up the excellent work!
OMGOSH! Wished I watched this first before buying Water Waves Gel. I never knew Mod Podge can have the same effect. Thank you so much for showing use how to do this. I am so in love with resin lately. Oh, I love how you say Lolly stick! I have no accent, sad to say. God Bless and be safe, debs from Texas
Thanks Debs. Glad to have helped. You see, to me you would have an accent. I'm pretty much just middle-English.
Fantastico!!!😱😱😱😱😱muchas felicidades!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Beautiful scenery! Looks so realistic, your attention to detail is astounding.
Thanks!
Your attention to detail is fabulous! I grew up around rivers and love moving water...I'm a miniaturist of houses but am really enjoying your work!

SO INTERESTING TO WATCH...BEAUTIFULLY PUT TOGETHER OR, SHALL I SAY ....CREATED!!!!! VERY HELPFUL INFORMATION. Thank you.
