    We are building out our van right now and I highly HIGHLY recommend to take the van out on trips as you build it out. At least one week long trip. Once we got the electrical done I put up temporary walls and build some janky temporary counters with a sink so we can cook and clean. We were dead set on our lay out until we spent a few week long trips in the van and changed A LOT of things. It's great because you'll find out the little things like how you stretch out your legs, where you naturally sit and look and all that stuff you don't know during the design but learn as you use it. The temporary walls were clutch because I decided to move some lights around and add extra stuff that would have been a pain if the walls were permanently up. We have the high roof extra long transit.

      Thanks for the tip, that is a great idea! We expect at least one of us to be working full time from our bench seat and swivel area so we definitely want that to be comfortable and practical.

    We commonly use that de burr tool in the machine shop. The typical blade leaves a 45 degree chamfered edge.

    Your channel came up in my recommendations. I'm a few years from having my van, but I'm doing lots of research. I wanted you to know that your explanations of what you do and why are so helpful, especially for a novice who wants to do her own build. Thanks for making these videos!

      Thanks so much! That means a lot because we are also novices and have been learning everything as we go by watching/reading what other people post, so we wanted to make helpful videos for the next builders to come. Best of luck with your future build!

    put the head of the bed on the drivers side. If you end up parking on the street to stealth camp the crown of the road is slightly higher than the gutter. Sleeping with your head higher than your feet will keep you from waking up with a screaming headache

    Hi. I am just about to order the same van you have, and I just stumbled upon your CZcams channel. In your first video, you said you wanted the Abyss Grey. I have been looking at the Avalanche Grey because it is the lighter Grey, but seeing your van in the darker Grey, I really like it. Perhaps the metallic flecks make it appear lighter, but the Grey looks much lighter than I would have expected. I really like yours!
    Are you able to share the side panel layout that you have?

    • @britandmike
      @britandmike  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi, yes we went with Abyss Grey! I agree, Abyss Grey can look lighter in the sunlight especially, which I love. We liked Avalanche Grey too but from the pictures we thought it was too close to just being off-white.
      We have the 148" wheelbase extended length, and we ordered it with just one window put in, in our passenger side sliding door. Then we put our own CR Laurence half-slider windows into each of the back 2 side panels. Or did you mean the dimensions? Here is a link to sketches of the dimensions (including a side view) that we got from The Queen & Bob here on youtube:
