Used to change the whole subframe for a service exchange one from my parts supplier. Time ive pushed the bushes out and in it was more cost effective to swap it. Thanks again got 30 mins of armchair entertainment
I normally purchase a remanufactured subframe that has already fitted with new bushes in it for not much dearer than the price of a set of bushes from E C P on an exchange basis , cheers Alan
Greetings from Poland! Thanks to your video I was able to replace the subframe bushes in my Mondeo MK3. It took me 3 hours 😆 Thanks a lot and keep doing good stuff!
Alan,👍👍! I still have My MK3 estate, 200k miles, it certainly needs a plenty of work beneath, both in back & in front too... Not easy to find somebody to do it...
Had mine subframe replaced and the new one came with poly bushes so maybe thats the norm now. Love your videos mate, never fail to cheer me up in these weird times.
Did mine on the car on axle stands. Do the o/s two first then the n/s. Like you I made up some screwed rod, washers and different size pipe fitting sockets. Mark the position of the frame before releasing the mounting bolts so as to get it back as near as pos. Ford use locating pins. I replaced the rubber bushes with poly, a lot quicker and easier, plus they will never wear out again. Not a nice job to do but saves you a bunch of money as against having a garage do it.
Excellent video, thanks! I have a mk3 mondeo TDDI which required replacement of the rear bushes at about 70k miles - I used the better quality 'poly' bushes and the car now has 210k miles and there is still no noise from the rear subframe. Maybe most people who replaced their bushes many years ago used the better ones and they did not need replacing since?
Hello Allan. I need to replace the rear subframe seals, but in Hungary it is not legal to install a polyurethane seal. Thank you in advance for your help and answer. Sincerely, László H.
Thanks mate, my mk3 probably needs this. It's 17 years old and still on the originals. Hahaha. I will be re-watching this in future, so don't take it down. Cheers
Wow great skills. Wish you lived closer. You could help me on my Jeep. Struggling with a string trimmer tonight. This was a good presentation mate. The air wrench scared my dog.haha
The 6 months extension on the mots must have put a right crimp on your turn over! but just think, in six months there will be twice as many folk needing an mot, you will be able to name your price!
you are very watchable and you have your own style ...im a ford man and some usefull stuff. Just enough fun and Monica added. But still primarily a car programme --good all rounder
You are absolutely completely bonkers. Mad as a hatter. A loon. Barking. You should be famous and have your own TV show. Great channel.. I burst out laughing all the time. I got these bushes done on my mk3 taxi at around 150000, along with my clutch. Now the steering rack needs done.. It'll be a completely new car soon. I'm aiming for 300,000 😂👍
Hi Alan, hope you're having a lovely holiday in the Philippines, Sorry to talk shop but have you ever had to take the sill cover's off a MK3 Mondeo st estate, I believe they're bonded on. Des
Hello on minute 14 you say to put the bush closest to the roll bar with the 2 slots to the lenth of the car but with my mondeo mk3 of 2002 that bushes are placed in the width of the car and I don't know witch way I should place the new ones.???
Should have polybushed them. You leave the outer metal sleeve in place, just remove the rubber and press in the polyurethane ones. Can be done easily without removing the subframe and takes about an hour per side. Also no need to leave the car on the ramp overnight whilst the glue dries. Paying someone to do it it cost me £200 all in.
Damn Alan, the work you have just on all those camera angles, amazing job! Do you remember if the MK3's would sink the brake pedals with some pressure with the engine running? My X type has been in the garage for 1 month now because of that, new master cylinder and the brake booster is being adjusted correctly, also they just replaced the hydraulic part of the abs module with one from a Mondeo, hopefully they get the hang of it right now... Cheers!
Is the subfram the same for all the body styles? This one is off a hatchbakc? I was thingking since the estates have a different suspension setup. The bushings are naturally the same but the rest of the stuff?
Alan Monikas hair looks better brown don’t you think? Also will the huntingdon ninja be making an appearance after lockdown? Last time was metal detectors lol great videos SEE YAAAA
lol, yes the red was an experiment, mark has been out and about, we have made quite a few vids with air rifles and tracking around woodlands but i don't put those vids on this channel, cheers
How about a video about adding a perspex partition between the driver in front and passengers in the back, fan on in the front to keep the virus away, it could put more of the fleet back on the road :)
funny thing is lots of taxis like peugeot experts e7 already get fitted with these partitions..but more for safety reasons, that won't happen here on the mondeos..looks like its clearing up now
Is it possible the lattereal acc sensor throws a phantom code if the front subframe is misaligned on the MK3's? It started throwing the code after I changed the left control arm and track rod end. (The steering wheel is about 5deg off center ) I'm expecting to get the subframe alignment pins next week.
There is a malfunction on my mk3 mondeo that has been bothering me for a while. The interior lights suddenly broke down. I changed the small fuse in the fuse box but it didn't work. the lamps are not broken. The fuse box is not broken. elecrick flow seems normal. No mechanic could fix it. if anyone knows the answer please help :(((
If you're bored ill offer to bring my mk4 down! I bought in July of 2019, forgot to get the service history from the dealer (long story) never got it in the post as promised. Changed the oil, filter and air filter car had 126k miles on now at 131k other than that could do with telling me what's wrong with it
@@alan4x not too sure, feels like a power drop. Sometimes it pulls well and then it'll drop down all of a sudden or do a bit of a judder. There's no warning codes or anything on the ECU no engine management lights or anything else either. Apart from that I need to replace the front bumper and undertray as they got cracked. Wobble in the steering even after the wheels have been balanced, brake pads and replacer of the switches on the steering wheen haha 😂 I've got plenty to keep me occupied during lockdown Edit* I also need to replace that wet belt as its a 1.8tdci and change the pulley on the alternator
Hi Alan. Love your videos. I have a 2008 mondeo titanium 2.3L automatic. I wanted to change the oil and filter on the transmission. I have no oil filter on mine. I contacted Ford and my model has a, as they quoted Life Long Auto Gearbox. Have you heard of this.
😁😁 yes they already are but it's good to reach out everywhere. Shame, it was such a great car. Really enjoyed seeing the MK3 videos. I learnt by doing, but your vids would habe been great.
Hi mate been watching your videos I have a mondeo mk4 want to beef up suspension front and rear also lift the wagon a couple of inches can you help me Aussie Lee
My Mk 5 needs a MOT and I am being nagged to change the oil, fuel is the lowest price for years, time for a service but I have the only mk5 that my tame mechanic deals with and others are closed :( Service has to be without changing the pollen filter as the more blocked it is the smaller it will filter, ideally the virus :)
My MoT guy told me my car was a write-off due to this fault!! He said the job wasn’t worth doing on 2002 car. I believed him until I watched your video. Now I know that he lied to me, and I could even do the job myself. This is a great example of two things: First of all, I found your clowning around at the beginning very annoying and nearly didn’t bother watching. But I persevered and you ended up providing me with some excellent and extremely valuable information; Secondly, if it wasn’t for the utter insanity of the totally pointless and criminal lockdowns, you almost certainly wouldn’t have made this video. So every cloud has a silver lining. Finally, even though I’m in Derby which is 88 miles and 1 hour 40 minutes away, I’m seriously considering asking you to quote on the job and do my MoT next year. I will without doubt recommend your channel to everyone I know, and hope it brings some good tidings your way. Thank you again for sharing this valuable advice. Peace
well thanks g58, your bang on about the criminal lockdowns for sure, and yes i will certainly mot your car and fix anything that i am capable of, have a good one and thanks for your comment
if your stuck for content, why not do a video on tools, specialist tools/unusual tools etc or even a history of the car`s steve`s taxi`s has had over the years, telling us the common fault`s with each car, but people LOVE tool vids mate !!!!
