I REALLY felt that "they made music for me". UM. YES. That's how I feel, too. When I started listening to albums by them (like the first couple songs I heard were Russian Roulette and Power Up and I loved them but I didn't realize the variety that was there...) and I heard more I was like wait... this is my genre. Red Velvet genre. Red Velvet is my music. Period.
Red Velvet always keeps us interested and we don't know where we're going, but we know it will be amazing. Always.

RV's greatest strength lies in RnB because both their strongest vocalists lean towards that. Particularly Wendy because she spent her formative years in the west. Light Me Up solo version! She's really versatile and can do anything, but she's just got a knack for that genre...runs and adlibs? check. Seulgi's voice just suits it so well.. warm and smooth.
Joy also fits R&B very well.
I can't believe they didn't recommend Body Talk on the Rookie mini album ... The audacity of some Reveluvs !!

I think Red Velvet’s tracks are boosted SO MUCH by how incredibly distinctive their voices are. They all have such strong tones that are able to both stand out in the production while also mixing perfectly with not only the instrumentation but with one another. I could close my eyes and listen to any Red Velvet song and know the voice of who’s singing instantly, and I feel like that’s pretty damn impressive

Wendy does a solo version of "Light me up" and says "Oh girl come and light me up" to be inclusive. It's a fun listen outside of reacting. She sang it at their La Rouge concert. Also the adlibs in the end of "Light me up" were mostly Wendy and a bit of Seulgi. Ad lib queens.

most of the songs given to red velvet were made by producers SPECIFICALLY for red velvet. they know how versatile their voices are and it's why they can play around more/give more high notes compared to other groups, which is what some of the producers who constantly work with rv have said. rv is insane.

You mentioned how producers need to step up when working with RV. There's actually a video compilation of composers and producers praising Red Velvet because of how well grasp the concept of the song, while providing their own RV signature flavor to it.
Fun Fact: Bad Boy was produced by The Stereotypes. Same producers for Justin Bieber's "Somebody To Love", Far East Movement's "Rocketeer", Bruno Mars' "Finess" and "24K Magic", Cardi B's "Please Me", and a couple of EXO and NCT songs. There's a short docu of this from Genius' YT channel.

I saw Jaein Seo's list, save for the summer albums, the b-sides he/she/they picked kinda falls in one genre (vibe?). While FAN FAVORITES like Body Talk, Look, I Just, Perfect 10, In My Dreams, Butterflies, Hello Sunset didn't make it.
