Great points, really enlightening to have him lay it out. The US policy is not to embargo the country or people of Cuba, it is a policy against the military dictatorship of Cuba. Nothing against private citizens or private enterprises.
Have you ever read the export control list? You think it's just about weapons? Virtually everything besides food or medicine, which is mandatory for a modern society, is on the list. Cubans can't buy them from US, or other foreign businesses since US will punish them for trading with a Cuban. It IS against private citizens or business in Cuba, they are not exempted from the embargo.

Well... its both. Remember that they aimed Nukes at the United States and that's why their actions have consequences. But the Cuban Government imposes various policies, like a 2 currency system; that disenfranchises Cuban citizens.

Guess who accepted? ..RUSSIA!!...Thus the missiles of october. We were set to invade and loads of paratroopers from the 101st and 82nd Airborne were to spearhead the attack. We were all assigned missions. But someone got cold feet and we diverted to Eglin AFB in Florida. Later they had the Bay of Pigs but it failed because the people couldn't rise up they had no weapons. We should have been in Cuba YEARS ago rather than places like Afghanistan and Vietnam. I say YES to helping the people of CUBA!!...Hell I'll even dig out my old jump boots and volunteer to finish the mission I was assigned 62 years ago.

When it is sugar cane season, they will send your kids starting 7th grade to cut sugar cane. It was compulsory! You have to wear denim long sleeves, sugar cane leaves are sharp and cut you. They are camping sleeping in hammocks made of sacks and living and cutting cane in mud ( it’s tropical and rains in summer). Girls would sometimes come home pregnant. I was spare of this by 1 year!!
