What stood out to me the most is the fact that, in this vast, endless forest, there is no sound being made by bugs or animals whatsoever. It's just.. still.
High peaks wilderness of Adirondacks is like that too. I think mountainous forested areas are usually like that.
There aren't any animals from what I've read. Any animals like the deer shown are from outside the forest.......but there isn't any grasses that deer would eat. The forest has grown out of old lava from the last time Mt. Fuji erupted. That is why the trails are not just for direction but to supply smooth walk surfaces. Also, notice that vast amount of moss growing out of the lava.....soil would not produce that. Also notice the roots of all of the trees are gangly and mostly above ground as it cannot penetrate the hard forest floor.
Deer, chipmunks and few black bears. Aokigahara forest encircles Mt. Fuji so there’s enough area between trails you don’t see much wildlife. I went up Fuji in winter 2020 and the loudest sound was the wind moving the trees. You can hear the trees rustling a long way out and it gets louder as it approaches you then quiet as it goes. The tree branches are also fragile so on windy days a lot of debris drops with gusts. It’s a wonderful place to experience and I recommend starting at the Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen shrine in Fujiyoshida and making a day of it.

He is absolutely so brave ! Especially if you read all about the suicide forest in Japan . Most people can’t stay for more than ten minutes due to it being so haunted.

The aokigahara forest is designated as a natural monument and is home to thousands of living creatures including deer, weasels, flying squirrels and wild boars. You might even mistake the trees themselves for mythical creatures with their tangled roots fully exposed and overlapping each other. Because the area remains largely untouched wildlife that is extremely rare in Japan still lives and thrives there. Asian black bears are also known to propel the area so be wary Angelo.

Honshu wolf
Tsushima leopard cat
Ezo red fox
Ussuri brown bear
That's all the big one's to watch out for.
And yes there are bears out there

That forest is dangerous for the fact that off the path, those tree roots grow in a way that leave gaping holes that a person can fall in and break bones.

Then ask, if a place is considered haunted and has paranormal activity, why do this investigation at dawn and not during the day, for example? It's not a criticism, it's just a curiosity and to understand the relationship between the paranormal and the night.
