I absolutely love the kraft box change description of the sound 😂😂😂 thanks for making this vid!
You can actually charge it with a powerbank while powered off with a PD (power delivery) powerbank with a minimum of 18W. I use the Anker 525 and it works just fine. Sometimes I use the Anker PowerPort III Cube as a power wall charger and it works just fine as well. This actually works With RP, R, R10, R7, R6, R5 and R3.
My Canon 80D shutter died one me and I decided to bite the bullet and go with the R7 over the 90D. Picked it up today and taking it out tomorrow for its inaugural test run....I have Sigma 18-35 1.8 and 70-200 2.8 lens....looking forward to seeing the difference (I shoot mainly sports so upgrading from 45 AF points to 651 is a game changer in itself).
Happy birthday dude🎂😂😊😃
Thought you were Adam Sandler. Hope I can afford this camera in December. I want to replace my 80D already.
Love your reviews.. thanks alot!
I would love to hear about the high iso noise, and how it works woth the "noise reduction" in camera while shooting video. Thanks alot!
There’s a video up about high iso with raw files. Put it up yesterday
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto thanks mate
The sarcasm and humour in this video.. 😂
Good thing it works with a MBP charger! Just like my g7x M3. Should be a seamless upgrade.
Can’t wait for the full review
Then don’t wait.
buffer clears fast on the R7 haha good one
PLEASE
Can you do some flash testing, off camera, on camera, sync speed so on
How does the r7 compares to the Sony a7iv ? Especially AF in video mode?
Anybody any experience with both cameras?
Wish I could go… sounds fun!!
I love my Canon R7. Ot did not take me very long to get used to using it. Less than a week. Now when grab my 90D I get confused on those buttons and I've had it since 2020. I love both they make a great set for filming and stills. The 4K fine is awesome
Hey I got 90D too thinking of getting r7 how is the sharpness on r7 because I don’t enjoy the softness in 90D will it be worth the upgrade am looking at still mostly
@Thedivinevision.19 I'm satisfied with it and feel it's fairly sharp. But if you want sharpness go for one with out the built in filter that helps get rid of the moire effect
I'm still waiting for someone to do the auto-level feature in video!
thank you Happy Gilmore ,still wating for mine
Own it since one week, no wobble on the R7. Great vid, cheers
The IBIS looks much better - plus I like the way it switches from photo to video compared to the R6. Im seriously thinking of getting a R7 with the small RF 16 - 35 - 50 lenses plus a speed booster for the one wide lens Id need.
Hi, I have one question that is most important to me as an event photographer, is it with the EF-EFS lens adapter in video photography Decreases the number of frames from 50 to 25 as in the camera R ?
And thanks for the video, I really liked
No, why should it? The adapter is just a "plastic ring" with different connectors on both ends. There is nothing in between and can be used like any other RF/-s lenses
can we use canon 80d battery too
For wedding photographer wich one vetter R or R7
Go check out Peter Gregg his R7 is overheating at the two hour mark! That's why I'll stick with the R!
One of the mentors for the not-a-conference in Banff is listed as a "Cannon Ambassador" -- will she be bringing sheet samples?
Hah. I think it’s fixed now
Ey we have the same birthday!
I own the Canon 90D and I have many sigma Lenses and Canon as well, will the R7 be a big upgrade and will a RF to EF Mount effect the picture quality?? I’m also a wedding photographer and I’m looking to upgraded!!
for video it would be a good upgrade but for photo no
@@starnutron6147 Are you saying that from some kind of experience? Because I own both a 90D and an R7 and the difference is huge. And yes, that includes for photos.
@@raffish1880 ohh nice to hear that. I am also thinking of buying the R7. can you tell me the low light performance of this camera.
6:08 I find that an 18 watt power brick works with my EOS RP at least
Camera content that talks about the user experience not just about technical numbers and niche percentage comparisons
This feature will disable your shutter curtain and something else which I can't remember for the Auto Level to work. This function will level your pictures Horizontally and vertically if you are holding at an odd angle. This feature is on many Canon Cameras. Tony and Chelsea Northrup shows how it works on their R7 video.
Interesting. What other canon cameras have this?
Interesting. What other canon cameras have this?
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto M50, R6 for examples. I watched a video where this creator said that they have had this feature for awhile on other Canon cameras. So I googled auto level and they showed cameras with videos using this feature. I think this is awesome.
Would be nice if people actually knew what they were talking about.
Hi Taylor. Would this be great second body . As I am still using the 5div
Yah it would be. Gives nice versatility to have a full frame and an crop camera as well
Can you record H.265 4K fine into ordinary SD card or you will need CF cards with canon codecs?
camera doesn't even support cf afaik, the bitrates for the stuff is in the 200-300mbps category anyway, since it's all IPB, not ALL-I
as long as you have some kind of v60 card you'd be able to record 4k fine
(edit: corrected a lot of the info, i was wayyyy off lmao)
Thank you for this video. I want to ask 2 questions. Is the shutter sound a bit too much for nature photography? and would you recommend this camera for slow motion video recording?
If you're worried about shutter sound, the silent electronic shutter mode should work well. You could slow down 4K footage from this camera to 40% of original speed if your video is 24fps, which is generally plenty to work with.
Hey! Firstly, Happy early Birthday! Cool video and I agree with you on the sound of the shutter. I hate it! And I thought auto leveling was only for video and not photo? 🤔
I also didn’t seem to get it working on video. For photo apparently you have to set it to one shot photo (according to another comment) but I haven’t tried it yet
i have shoot video with the R6 with 18-35mm Sigma lens (APSC mode) and you can still see the ISIB wobble
Interesting. Hopefully it being a smaller sensor speeds up read out and eliminates some of it. I guess we’ll see!
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto ;) waiting on my Preordered R7 :/
My camera shop (BJPhoto in Canada) got them yesterday or maybe even Friday. So hopefully soon! Doesn’t seem to be as hard supply chain issues with this release which is nice
Every Canon APSC Camera has a crop factor of 1.6
This is true
Surprised no one ever mentions the disappearing histogram in video.
When did they start letting prisoners do camera reviews (joking about shirt)
Do it have digital zoom for photography?
I was wondering the same thing.
Thanks for the video, helpful. I saw someone on another channel that had that auto level feature working. I don’t have my r7 yet so I have no advice to offer. Looking forward to motor R7 content!
It's on the 90D, too, which should have some videos on this subject.
Hi Taylor what can you actually zoom into in 1080 60p
Option is greyed out for the digital zoom when you’re in 60p
What's the delay time after recording video and switching to photo? R6 buffering for that is sometimes killer.
What kind of cards are you using? I haven’t had any R6 issues. I also shoot craw tho
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto fast cards. It just buffers for 3-10 seconds after videos complete. Not sure if it's the camera buffer or the processor changing settings but it's consistent on all my r6s
@@user-wj4vr9cg3c never encountered anything as such
That’s very strange. I’ve never had that issue. Video files are smaller than raw photos in bursts as well.
I never had that issue with my r6 either.
Adapter for the R6? I charge mine with my MacBook Pro charger
Then maybe it’s same system as R7
i actually like the sound of the shutter - like an old dslr... hmm
I live in Banff and would love to attend to bad that price tag is a bit to steep.
Yah. It’s a half day workshop with 4 different photographers that would usually charge 700usd each for a one day with one shoot.
At least you have access to the area all year for photos though. It’s beautiful out there
I think 1.6 crop for canon apsc. All other brand have 1.5 crop factor.
Yep
If I can use a built in feature to get an effect I would rather get it "in camera" rather than post. Great review. Quick and thorough.
How long does it take to switch between photo and movie mode?
It’s pretty instant. When we get to the cottage today I can do a short about it. It’s just as fast as the R6 once you move the dial, but it’s way more ergonomic because it’s on your thumb and the switch is very nice
Let me share too….still on backorder 🙄
is it so important that it deserve more screen space than the subject? thd^2
On Digital Zoom, the R7 Manual states: ‘Since movie digital zoom processes the image digitally, the image would look grainier at higher magnifications. Noise, dots of light, etc may also become noticeable’ at page 369 of the Australian version of the manual.
So unfortunately there will be a quality loss.
The digital zoom feature merely crops the sensor up to 3x. After that, it's just zooming in on pixels. But up to 3x is a genuine "lossless" zoom. Same on the 90D and M50II.
@@Captain-Cosmo Your summary makes sense. But describing it as a 10x lossless digital zoom seems to be an overstatement (or misstatement).
The Z9 comment killed me 😆 didn’t know that was a thing! Great first review :)
would you pick this or the HuhTuus?
They’re two different systems entirely. Currently no apsc lenses for this even. So this is a nice second body if you’re already a canon owner, or have a strong interest in wildlife or macro
It’s just a shame they didn’t have some compact RF-S prime lenses at launch. The 22mm f/2 and 32mm f/1.4 for the Canon M series are so nice.
Yah I know. Would love to have some
That's what the M series is for. 😉
@@Linteria Maybe. But if Canon is moving away from the M and focusing on the RF, you’d think they would make some smaller primes for it. I guess they’ll wait and see how well the R7 and R10 sell.
No M lenses are nice.. 😂
@@SikConVicTioN The 32mm f/1.4 begs to differ.
How’s the AF compare to Fuji XH2S?
It’s the Af from the R3. So it’s very wonderful and great in video
I wish the Nikon Z5 was exactly like this it pretty much is except it does not have a flip out screen and unlimited recording time limit.
Taylor do you still own the Nikon Z5
The bigger miss from Nikon is no video backup - every rival has that
Honest question... why would you get a apsc for weddings other than cost? Would think the higher effective F stop of a full frame would be better.
Honest comment... any PD rated power source will work... so Iphone, samsung galaxy, ankor etc will work.
One advantage other that cost would be video. The R7's oversampled 4K video seems to be really good quality, without overheating or time limits like the R5/R6.
smaller lighter telephoto lenses - this would be fine at a wedding or event - personally Im tired of lumping heavy equipment around
@@todanrg3 the IBIS looks better as well
It will charge with any USB-PD charger.
At 2:00......I thought there was a velociraptor behind you......
Timothy Muza would love this
Eosr and rp full frame is better or r7
Z5 for portraits
No Shutter or Aperture Video Mode!
There is, no? You just put the dial to Av or Tv in video mode
You're quite likable.
7th feature to love, camera passes gas when touching the front of the lens. Awesome new feature :-)
You remind me of Morty from Rick and Morty but like the when he grew up and got a camera Hobbie
FACT: nobody actually hates the shutter sound, its just become TRENDY to "hate it" after one big youtuber mentioned it while being nit-picky.
Haha who else said they didn’t like it? I hadn’t watched any of the reviews. But it does sound like a Nikon d5500

Waiting for this before I decide to buy
This camera is too small and there is no battery grip for it! Sticking with my 90D w/ battery grip
They call that personal preference.
It shoots 60p and 120p but you need to install magic lantern and shoot in 480p for 60p and if you want 120p then you need to shoot in 360p.
👍👍👍
Hello
1:56 - 1.6x crop in Canon is for years, welcome to reality ;)
Why is reality in canon different than every other brand
now if canon would just ship mine......
the r7 is a wondeful tool but the two tings that suck's are the abcence of a batterygrip and canon not autorizing third party lenses & accesories, dam Canon.
According to the manual auto level only works in single shot, not in any continuous mode.
Weird that it can be enabled in all modes and not greyed out like the digital zoom when you’re in 4k
To be honest:
The water slides in R7 land are quite garbage. And the coke in their restaurants smells like dodo water.
It’s true. I don’t love it there
I can have full control of aperture, exposure , etc and just press the rec button on my micro 4/3 camera to do video. Nice cripple Canon. I have owned many Canon dSLR cameras and they are know for doing stupid stuff. As a 80D/90D replacement , it is OK.
This is the camera Canon never had, for the price I still do not think they have it even though all paid youtubers pay tribute to the emperor without clothes.
The noise of that shutter is enough to stop anyone buying it! Honestly, save your money and wait and see what R2 or RP2 brings.
Haha just because of the shutter noise? It’s a very great camera
Haha just because of the shutter noise? It’s a very great camera
It would be nice if these 'reviewers' would actually get all of the facts straight before posting a review of a camera.
What’s incorrect in here?
Nikon wake up
I am tired of adapters and noise, I'll pass.. FF
Snarky is tiresome.
I don’t know him
Stopped watching after 29 seconds when he claims the ergonomics are good.
They’re very nice. Have you held one?
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto yes. Too small for me. I'm used to an integrated battery grip. They made a big mistake not giving it a battery grip or the body of the R5/R6
They make cameras for different people. Not everything can be designed for your specific needs
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto I am well aware of that but I have yet to hear anyone claim that the ergonomics of this camera are good. So maybe you are the one person who actually thinks it. Hard to believe that you would say that if you ever held a R5/R6 or 1 series camera....
I use an R3 as a main camera and an R6, and a C70. I’d prefer to use the body size of the R7 with the modifications I mention in the video
Don't go that hard on Nikon I'm a fanboy 😡
I don’t think they’re unreasonable requests for 2022
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto it's user error not the camera!!! 😡
(It's the camera)
