Names go in cycles as the old people who have the name (thus making them "old people names") die off while young people grow old (and make their names "old people names"). So in a generation or so it'll be more popular. (Notably: The same phenomenon happens with male underwear. Men tend to choose the opposite type of underwear from their fathers)

@@ElizabethREZ OH GOD. And here I was thinking my chosen name sucked because of it being the name of a character I dislike (named myself this for a reason unrelated to that)
@@TheRPGNerd I’ve known a lot of people who pick names that they change regularly because they find something cooler, but they’re clearly self chosen names, which is why I think people don’t respect it as much. It has to be inconspicuous so no one would ever know. On that note, a Simon and a Kayden I know, I didn’t know they were trans for the longest time, and their name choice really helped. Now… Ivy, Sky, Orion, Jinx… really? Just really? They all got dead named frequently, even Max alone, no one names their kid that anymore, and it again, sounds too much like a feminine care product. Someone gave themself a name that was almost identical to their birth name and told no one, so they were also getting frequently dead named because everyone thought their name was still the same. There are plenty of great fictional characters to choose from that don't sound absurd in reality. Obviously Galadriel would be a weird choice, but something like Luna (Harry Potter), Lucy (Hunger Games universe), Rose (Doctor Who), or even Rey (Star Wars) are all "normal," and easy to spell. People with regrets transitioning are actively silenced and left without support because they "make trans people look bad". It makes me unreasonably angry, they've actively pushed LGBTQ+ rights, but the instant someone steps out of that mold they can be thrown in the wind.
you know, any name a trans person chooses for themselves automatically becomes a cool name. like i could absolutely DESPISE the name beforehand but as soon as i hear that someone specifically chose it for themselves it will become my favourite name in existence. simply because the fact that someone looked at that string of letters and went "this, this feels like me, i wanna be called that" is inherently so wholesome it overwrites any negative feelings i had about the name.

It’s a tricky thing, I’m very supportive of people transitioning, but very critical of name choices because a lot of times it’s like… really? Come on…

@@systematic101 It doesn’t matter what that person said, fact of the matter is the divorce rate among married parents is also way higher than gender transition surgery. The regret rate of gender transition surgery in the US, Europe and Canada is 1%. And marriage/kids doesn’t require you to have a diagnosis, a psychological assessment, a letter of readiness and a difficult approval process. Gender affirmation surgery does
@@littleconch lmao no it doesn't. additionally the regret rate is low so far but that's expected considering transing kids hasn't been happening that long. You can divorce and raise kids but you can't put back sex organs once they're gone and you can't undo the hormone changes completely. One is a permanent change while they other isn't.
Bro I fucking lost it at "sneet snart" lmaooo
"if they're transgender enough they'll do it themselves" can confirm, i'm trans and chose the name mika after a rhythm game character👍👍👍
Huh, I also know a trans person named Mika, wonder where he got his name from.
Guess I was transgender enough lmao, I stole my name from a fictional character :D
My name is a gender bend of Arthur Pendragon.
"Apin"
Close enough~
@@ApinofArc Did I see you on reddit the other day?? 😂
@@satunbreeze you probably did xD I left a similar message.

Ivguess i didd that toovi named myself lake
That fictional name one hit home-

Targeted by a healing spell hopefully, Raine is amazing

thats awesome good for you!
good on you dude but good luck not breathing
I was like “damn I should have named myself after a fictional character… :(“ AND THEN I REMEMBERED I DID. Hi, I’m Beedle and I named myself after the traveling merchant from Zelda 🪲
Of all characters!😂 Love it
that name has actually crossed my mind as well, lmao since they look so androgynous
Totally relate to the binder one I asked my grandparents to buy me one a few weeks ago and explained I was non-binary and how it’d make me feel more comfortable and them being the awesome grandparents they are ordered me one the same day 🥰 I’m so happy now that I’ve finally gotten a chest binder
Im naming my kid Kris. Its gender neutral and I get to mess with them every time I want a banana.
Kris get me the banana
Potassium
Deltarune reference
Thats child abuse
*hasn't felt this comfy in years*
*WHEEZE* (The binder hasnt been broken in yet)
I named myself Marceline after adventure time. Don't call me out like that
you are a very cool person
You should learn to play the bass, would be cool as hell
Not trans but it hasn't felt this comfortable in years relatable😂😂😂
"No more heterosexual marriage until the divorce rate is below the detransition rate" lol
Mental illness humor 😔
I pray you get better 😔🙏
@@justinfigueroa8306 My mental illness has nothing to do with it, lol. It's just ridiculous that there are people who don't approve of gender confirming practices, which sometimes include surgeries, simply because there exist a few people who have regretted it. More people regret more common surgeries than they do gender confirming surgeries.
@@zoyadulzura7490 just as a point of reference, Justin created their account back in February of this year... And is evidently just going around CZcams shorts posting bigoted garbage..?

Except getting a divorce doesn't permamently change your body and you can get married again to someone else.

My friend was thinking about “Chaos” as a name. Now, I’d use Chaos if that was his (chosen) name, but I’m very glad he decided it didn’t fit as well as the one he uses now. He’s so sweet “Chaos” made me think, “Oh no, what if someone think’s I’m calling him chaotic? He’s so nice!!” (not that it really would have mattered, as long as he was comfy, of course!)
