FL STUDIO - LORN ATTEMPT

- This is my attempt at making something similar to the sound of LORN, one of my favorite producers that i have mad respect and love for.
I don't go too in-depth in how i made this, but it's basically silenth1, omnisphere and some other vsts + Distortion, reverb plugins and a bunch of EQing. I've had this laying around for a while now so i decided to share, instead of just let it go to dust. Enjoy. - Hudba

@@KLETwave this is not even remotely lorn except for the lead. Because lorn does so much outboard processing and so much layers of textures. But the lead is very close.
You really should make a tutorial on how to achieve this sound. Great work!
To get a sound a little closer to lorn you need multiple bass sounds that don't cut through the mix as much. And the drums could be more textured to get closer to lorn's sound. Overall, I think It's actually incredible how accurate your lead sounds and melodies are though.

You are the first person I've came across that's claimed to have cracked the ethereal code that is Lorn's sound and actually almost nailed it, You're just missing some saturation, mostly from recording it to tape and bringing it back into the sequencer.

John Doe of course I know, As a proudly admitted fan I can tell you some of the exact outboard gear he uses lol, I wouldn't have said anything if I was just going to blindly act like I know what I'm talking about and risk being as ignorant as you obviously are, wouldn't make sense to me to do so.
For the record, I know that part of the process for certain things is that he layers a lot, mostly oberheim/moog stuff for synth elements, Apparently he likes to send things either individually or as layers through units like a thermionic culture vulture, ssl eq, AD converter plus other bits on the way back in (most likely in a pre master bus) like a thermionic culture phoenix and a few other bits I'm sure you could find out about, However I'm sure it's all logically subjective and alternates on a session to session basis.
I've read that at some point either in pre or post, sometimes both he will often selectively send stuff through 4” tape so that whatever is going on sonically before that point is permanently baked into the audio. For example recording and resampling stuff that's been sent through a variety of amps, stuff from the Orange line I believe.

How did you get that lead/distorted clarinet sound so close to Lorn?
I'm unsure if you know about Feed Me but he has something quite similar to that bass lead in his songs. It could be some harmor distortion fx but I'm not really an expert
