    A clever and simple adjustment. It would be even better if it was possible to return to a known hammer spring tension without the need to use the chronograph which might be useful in a hunting situation. Some of the FX airgun use a number calibrated wheel to do this. The ideal situation would be if all the spring lengthening adjustment could be achieved in only one full turn of the adjustment screw.I am not sure if this is possible but perhaps using a coarser diameter thread would help towards this. Alternatively you could possibly calibrate the linear distance that the screw projects out of the aluminium block. I am really enjoying your videos, especially on this gun. If you could find an easy way to adjust the regulator you would be a miracle worker.

    Wow I love your work. Looking forward to accuracy range day. With all the new mods. When your bored Put your 2240' s in wooden stocks I'd love to see that. Crossmanitis where it all begins for many of us.

      Hajimoto, did you see what mole catcher wrote about making the setting repeatable.

      @@AirVelocitySport Great video. I always enjoy your methodical approach. Referencing Mole Catcher's comment, the coarsest threads would be found on a wood lag bolt, or a Tapcon concrete anchor (if you like blue).

      @@AirVelocitySport Linear calibration of the applied hammer spring tension could be done by having a marked linear scale along side the adjustment screw. It could possibly be a achieved using a piece of white plastic tape stuck onto the stock with 1/16 inch or similar interval markings added to it. A repeatably known spring tension could then be applied by aligning the end of the screw with a known interval marking. Alternatively, instead of using a scale stuck to the stock it might be possible to have the aluminium block extend outwards towards the butt so that it covers the full length of the maximum extended screw. Calibrated intervals could then be cut into the aluminium block extension.

    Fantastic! I saw your channel when I was looking for info on the nova liberty and found what you do great, a true inventor!
    I’m now a fan and subscriber!
    Just wish I could do what you do!

      You can do anything you want to. You likely have way more potential than you realize at all! All these airgun tuners, long range shooters, shopsmiths, and dealers were once just another curious dude like Stephen, me, Tofazfou, Matt Dubber, Rick Eusler, or yourself. Put your hands and thought in it and go!

    Really surprised this feature isn't on the Liberty. It comes standard on the Freedom. The setup is almost the same as what you made, with a brass block and a spring wire wrapped around part of the threads on the bolt that puts tension on a counterbore in the screw hole to prevent adjustments from walking.

    Great improvement and very informative, my question is, is the stock holding the new adjustment block or were you able to use the holding pins to keep it from pushing out?

    • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 5 lety

      The stock is holding it in place but you can easily drill and tap two grub screws on either side to hold it in place.

    The Nova 900 (the one with the hand pump built in) has an adjustable hammer spring tensioner.. I wonder if that would be a drop in replacement - would only require to cut a slot in the stock.. What do you think? I ordered the Nova today in .177 with the wood stock.. Got a 20% discount code and to my door $288.. They have upped the price from $329 to $349 but with the 20% discount I figured that I would order one before the code expired and they upped the price again..

  • @ajmnuisanceanimalcontrolll3895

    If you want the spring to stay on the bolt to prevent hammer bounce, can you hot glue it? Maybe use a double spring.

    Dammit Stephen, you're gonna make me cut my beautiful wood stock up !!! However, I may have an alternative... tell me what you think... I've ported the barrel and power knob to 3/16". when looking at the power selector, there are two holes.. one for high power, and one for low power. I've drilled out the high power hole to 3/16 like you did, BUT, what if I were to drill out the LOW power holes such that I could shoot two different pellets at two different speeds. for instance... If I set the HST and Reg to shoot heavy pellets.. lets say, the H&N 21 grain. at around 920 or so..... it would shoot lighter pellets... lets say the cheap crappy CPHP's at like 1000+, but, turning the selector knob to LOW, it shot the CPHP at 840 or so... I could drill out the LOW power hole some to make the lighter pellets shoot right at around 880 - 900. So, in effect, I'd have a gun that shot heavy pellets at 920, and light pellets at 900 with just the turn of the power knob. That way I wouldn't need to cut the stock or use an adjustable screw like you use. Granted tho, having the adjuster screw would be much sweeter !!

    @BisonWorkshop Před 5 lety +1

    if you shorten the part going in the spring you will have more adjustments in. you only need about 1/4 inch into the spring.

    • @chriswooten7
      @chriswooten7 Před 3 lety

      That is of course, depending whether the cause of the gun not cocking when he tried with it too tight is the end of the plastic piece, or actual coil bind. I'm making mine out of brass on my mini lathe today, so I'm going to know soon.

    i am most curious as to why you and hajimotto hasnt dived into the nova freedom yet ,i have shot 1000;s of rounds 14 to 40 grain projectiles thru it with tack driving accuracy and to this day no problems ever . i always put a generous amount of silicone oil where needed and have silicone grease behind oring on pumping tube and rod . the built in pump is awesome in the woods .what is your honest take on this please ? i think my success with the nova freedom is keep it lubed before and after each shooting session ,always keep 1000 to 1500 psi in it when stored ,always top off pressure every 10 shots so pump isnt working so hard to refill it ,and i started filling to 3000 psi instead of 3600 psi !

    • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 4 lety +1

      The Freedom is basically the Nova liberty just with a built-in the pump. It is an awesome gun. I just personally do not want to hand pump my guns. The freedom is an awesome no hassle gun. And it's performance should be just like the Liberty.

    We have sub 12ftlbs here in the UK.....is it possible to increase the power if the gun was bought at 12ftlbs without damaging the gun?
    Keep up the great videos please!!! Soooooo interesting👍

    • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, no problem to increase the power of this gun to at least 35 FPE without damaging the poppet. I have my guns at 50FPE AND th only issue was the soft material of poppet. So I had someone make me a delrin/peek poppet. No issues for two years now

      At first the wood was holding it in place. I left plenty of wood strength. But now I have purchase Duy's hammer spring adjuster and two strong screws are holding it. I could have done it myself but Duy makes good things for the liberty

    Synthetic stock on my rifle it come out like that so can I still slot groove in it like your one thanks

    • @AirVelocitySport
      @AirVelocitySport  Před 4 lety

      You can but you willnhave to secure the aluminum block with two strong grub screws to keep the adjustable block with screw in place. Remember the hammer can put a lot of tension on the block which can shoot out the back if it's not securely attached
