Princess Xenia Georgievna of Russia

  • This is the story of Princess Xenia Georgievna of Russia, best known for her entanglement in the longest-running royal mystery of the 20th century - the Anna Anderson case. We’ll get to that hot mess, but I think the rest of her life is way more interesting.
Xenia's story has a little bit of everything: tragedy, romance, a teddy bear, drama, scandal, heartbreak, and a speedboat. Yes, a speedboat.
She married a man who'd grown up in the public eye, known to everyone as "the World's Richest Boy" or "Little Prince Lonely." But money doesn't guarantee love or happiness...as Xenia would discover.
From the riches of Romanov Russia to the roaring '20s in glamorous New York, Xenia's story spans countries and continents. I hope you enjoy meeting this Romanov princess!
    History is so awesome.

ABOUT THE GIRL IN THE TIARA
    ----------------------------------------------------
I tell stories about tiaras and the fascinating royal women who wore them. Join me as I follow these tiaras across generations and countries, through wars and revolutions and-sometimes-into darkness and disappearance and destruction.
This isn't the kind of history your professor lectured about. Instead, think of this as conversational history, like a mash-up of Drunk History and The Crown. Yes, there's a little swearing. There's also humor and heart and a boatload of compassion for these amazing royal women.
    ABOUT ME
    -------------------
I never intended to start a channel or a website about tiaras and royal history. But a midlife crisis forced me to re-examine my life. I gave up fiction writing after self-publishing 9 of the 10 books I'd written and earning next to nothing.
Instead of the misery of marketing books, I turned to my first love...royal history. So here I am, a 40-something burnout, trying to start over by recapturing her love of history, royal women, and their jewels.

The Leeds family is a fascinating one. Basically Billy Leeds spent his fortune in typical playboy fashion. He didn't die penniless but his fortune was much diminished. The history of his father's business partner, Daniel G. Reid, is even more interesting. I am trying to find information on his third wife, who was involved in a scandalous divorce in 1920. The Reids were eventually involved with the New York Yankees and one of the sons married Lana Turner.

I still remember the full title because my brain holds onto all the useless knowledge anyone could want ("Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna"), so I Googled it. Lo and behold, Susan Lucci played "Darya Romanoff," a character based on Xenia. Christian Bale played Tsarevich Alexei! Now I really want to watch this again...

@@TheGirlintheTiara fairytale origins are more of my forte. Real royal families have less enchanted lives with issues that are no longer acceptable. Like marrying within the family. Deformities. Religious practices that hurt people. Bigotry. Percussions. Witch trials. No fair trials. Torture weapons. It's like an old era of ideas that are now known as incorrect. At the same time their glamorous castles and money is something to admire. And clothing. They always had pretty fabric. Claiming territory can make you a monarch or a dictator but you still need to listen to science. I think I want to see a scientific royal family. Btw she looks like Olivia Rodrigo
