    It's so symbolic that the ultra offensive Karasuno didn't win off an attack of their own. They won just because of all the individual upgrades they worked so hard on for this tournament. They won because they improved on every facet off their play style, both mental and physical. Tanaka's cut shot, Kageyama's ability to read the spikers and let THEM decide, Asahi's jump serves, Tsukki's determination, Noya's set, Hinata's receive and blocking. All the cogs finally linked and it paid dividence.

    7:14 it's not that he feels sorry because they don't get to experience being part of this team. It's kinda the opposite. Asahi feels jealous because the future first years and second years will get to experience having Kageyama as a setter who has perfect tosses.
    But he also "feels sorry" for them because Kageyama will push them really hard like he did with Tanaka in the previous episode and Asahi right now in this scene.

      Yeah, that is one of the most cool things in this ep but asahi spking that triple block overshadows it and almost anyone give the credit for this asahi's words. I saw someone talking about it and it's like a curse of trust, when you see someone doing their best so hard and doing such great things you will also feel responsable and try to do your best, he feels sorry for the next years because they will have to play every match with that trust, with the responsability to do their best in every perfect set that they have.

    Atsumu and Osamu used the concept of "We don't need the memories" to try and beat Karasuno with their flashy, blindingly-fast quick attack, but Hinata and Kageyama used their own memories of that very same quick being blocked by Seijoh at the end of season 1 and causing them to lose in order to overcome it with a block of their own. One of the most amazing and poetic final points in the entire series.

  • @aldohan6746
    @aldohan6746 Před 2 lety +114

    “We don’t need the memories”. What this is initially portrayed as through the amazing skill of Inarizaki and the Miya twins in particular, is that all that matters is the here and now and that you can’t live off memories, so you must drive yourself in the now with all that you have and forget the past. But Kita’s words earlier changed the complexion a bit when he stated that he doesn’t like the motto because it seems to disregard the importance of the past. He firmly believes that we are the result of everything before us. It’s a perspective of maturity that Atsumu doesn’t yet consciously acknowledge.
    This helps incorporate a new thematic message and a new spin on the banner motto. It isn’t about being reckless and forgetting the past, it’s about giving it your all using the experiences learned from the past that become ingrained in your body.
    And this concept is particularly relevant in the final point of this match as an encapsulation of who Atsumu is. They lost primarly because he got caught up in the fun and expression of the Monster's ball, and came up against the block of two who had tried that in the past, failed in the same manner (vs Seijoh in season 1), and learned from their mistake through not forgetting that memory which opened the path of their growth. And though the pain of defeat can be difficult to endure, there’s always another chance to go again and experience it once more.
    And so with this approach, this motto turns from rash to incredibly wise and balanced. And one of the most beautiful things about Haikyuu!! is that these little tidbits of life advice that are presented to us through the characters can be used in any walk of life, in any context.

    • @ArgKnoxville86
      @ArgKnoxville86 Před 2 lety +5

      Nah. The banner is about "the now" and forgetting the past.
      Kita just disagrees because he is more mature than that banner. But it is a bad motto.
      You NEED the memories, not to get stuck on them but to learn from them. This whole anime is about that, Karasuno in the first 10 episodes are stuck on the Dateko defeat and have to come to terms with it and learn from it, at the end of S1 they loose to Seijoh and they have to overcome that as well.
      Inarizaki looses the same way Karasuno looses in S1. Tsukki makes a clear refference to that even. If that is not a message that "memories are needed" and that the banner from Inarizaki is just wrong, idk what is.
      If they had not considered the memories, they would have done the same mistakes again, there are plenty of easter eggs of Karasuno improving on plays they lost in the first match.
      The motto of Inarizaki just sucks. The only difference is that the Miya brothers are good and can carry it, otherwise you'd have a team much like
      Johzenji.

    I cry everytime watching the first receive of Hinata in this episode. All the memories just flashed back, and I suddenly realize that he had grown so much.
    He is not the boy who just wants to spike every balls. He really changes through the training camp, from that boy who wasn't invited to the camp to the boy that can matched with the blockers and switches the intense situation.
    "Let's take it easy!" I am so in love with that shiny smile on his face!
    -
    Also the very last ball...I really loves all the last ball of every competition.
    With Aoba Johsai, we have the revenge ball.
    With Shiratorizawa, we see how all the senior supporting the junior.
    With Inarizaki, Hinata and Kageyama stop the speed ball, because they are the one that use the speed and start all these "miracles" at the very first time.

  • @Revaiel_
    @Revaiel_ Před 2 lety +13

    This episode was all about the curse of speed. If you notice even the music is a literal sped up version of a main track. Hinata slowing down the ball shows that he learned that lesson already, and he experienced more than anyone what it feels like to have his quick attack shut down. He’s been there and done that. However, the Miya twins are new at this, and have the naïveté that Hinata/Kageyama had in season 1: assuming that they’re invincible now. Tsukishima narrates for us that the ones experienced in the quick attack knew more than anyone how it can be stopped, which is why it’s poetic that they were the ones who stopped it. Brilliant episode.

    What an amazing match, it's so nice that Karasuno vs Inarizaki is completely different from any other match that Karasuno had until now, especially by the fact that players like Nishinoya had a hard time during the match and players like Hinata were able able to shine even more than usual, also i think this is one of those matches in which the better team did not win, yes i think Inarizaki was a better team than Karasuno, but it's just like what Oikawa told Ushijima, "no team is guaranteed victory"

    • @narendharan7859
      @narendharan7859 Před 2 lety +1

      True I have always felt that Inarizaki is the better team.. Miya twins were too much experimental.. had that final toss gone to Aran or Suna.. Kageyama & Hinata wouldn't have been able to stop it.. but they knew Miya twins are gonna do that quick right there.. cuz that's what they used in S1 when they were in a pinch!!
      Karasuno's weak defense was finally exploited in this match.. no offense but Tsukki is great blocker but he isn't gng to be able to suddenly stop national level MBs or WSs.. hence why he played the long game with Suna!! Even with Daichi being the most well round receiver & Hinata with his new receiving skill, Noya being a genius is still not enough to stop or control some of these national level team's attack!! Inarizaki had the better defense & offense.. they literally had someone as strong as Ushijima in Aran.. MB as skilled as Suna.. & another national level WS Osamu..! Karasuno is known fr its offense but Inarizaki is on par with them in offense & a lot better than Karasuno in defense!
      So yeah.. the better team lost, Oikawa & Old man Ukai both said it.. No team is a guaranteed winner..!

    Inarizaki vs. Karasuno is one of my favorite matches in Haikyuu!, and episode 24 is one of the reasons why that is. Hinata's receive and how it allows everyone a moment to breathe is simply a beautiful touch on his character arc. One of the parts of the episode I truly enjoy and which I don't think is talked about enough is the scene with Tsukki blocking and Hinata's receive after Tsukki says, "you better be there." This scene demonstrates how two characters who might irritate each other to no end off the court can come together on the court. It's as if Tsukki's saying, "It's time for the sun to shine." And he did.

This time, their own weapon was being used against them, and they knew it. At the end, the only ones that could stop that quick, were the very owners of it. I know Haikyuu does have those kinds of surprises, but in my case, (and I never even read the manga) I was 1000000% sure they'd win. They have been teasing "the battle of the garbage dump" for 3 seasons now, they were just not gonna cuck everyone on this.
    On that point, even though, the ending of this match is pretty epic, it was very much expected.
    Also, up until this point in the anime as far as I can tell, Karasuno never lost a game in which they won the 1st set.

    "Monsters Banquet" the OST during the final rally is my favorite because it is a remixed compilation of some tracks that played during key moments in this series up til now.
    I know the last parts are remixes of "Shinka" then "Above", but I can't figure out what the first part is. Maybe it's original but it sounds familiar. Anyone know?

    I had been watching this series for like a few weeks during the pandemic, falling more and more in love with it. I was kind of speed running it and thinking this season was good but didn't think it could top season 3. I was exactly where you were at this point of the show at 15:35, crying and feeling super emotional about the end of the match. Didn't realize a sports anime could hit different like that

    Osamu, using twin telepathy: Give me the ball, I'll get the point.
    Atsumu: Okay, the toss will go to S(amu)... Suna!
    Osamu: 9:10
    Also, look at how Miyatwins celebrate in 10:12. They really share the same DNA after all.
    Onto the episode, the last point is like a parallel to Karasuno vs Seijou's last point in season 1, down to the same word: "This position... This timing... This angle... It's perfect!"
    But the tables are turned. It's perfect for KageHina to stop that quick as they've been stopped just like that once, and they know it better, that speed is not superior. Inarizaki's motto is "we don't need the memories", yet it's *because* of the memories that Karasuno is able to get that last point, as they've learned from past mistakes.

    yes an episode worthy of buckets and buckets of tears!!!
    I love how in this part of the game they're showing how Tsukki's mindset from the Shiratorizawa match has fully taken hold and now he's so determined to fight until the end despite being tired, ugh I love character development. Also, shoutout to that one second frames dedicated to Kunimi's, Koganegawa's, and Hyakuzawa's reaction to Hinata's high pass. No doubt they're having flashbacks to when Hinata stared the hell out of Kunimi doing it during the Miyagi freshmen camp. The story and characters are all connected I love it.

  • @zegasi1274
    @zegasi1274 Před rokem

    the thing is that last twin quick was just on point, like as soon as he touched it his brother smacked the hell out of it it wasn't even half a second, like instant it was more than perfect, it was perfection itself, Gosh thank God hinata and Kageyama know how quick works and fast enough to react to it.

  • @dannysea6980
    @dannysea6980 Před 2 lety

    Hinata was so integral to this match, honestly his big moments (his "embarassing" saves leading up to that beautiful save and his and Tsukki's teamwork (TvT) and now this "take it easy" moment and him cheering everyone up a few episodes ago) made me cry big time, holy shit, I was Suga in all these moments, I was so proud, he's come so far, worked so hard and saved his teammates when it mattered the most.
    This was goddamn amazing and intense and I was once again amazed at how well Haikyuu!! handles so many characters, fleshing them all out and making me care about each and every one of them, what a blessing of an anime
