  • I attempt to answer some questions by showing in detail how I paint a Top Gun themed display base. This is for sale on ebay, here's the link to my auction:

    I know this is an oldish video now, but its so useful. Tutorials that are easy to watch and listen too ( it feels like I'm sitting next to you having a lesson!)....awesome work....

    Only your third? C'mon! I've built 36 P-47's. Catch up! If you like F-14's you like F-14's! HA! You should build a wrinkled up Ryan, mount it on some green felt {Golf Course} and put it next to Harrison Ford.WHAT?! TOO EARLY? Sounds like Ringo wants to play. Tamiya white can do the same, I'm glad to see it happens to the best of us also. Base came out great! On to the next model building adventure

    I have a lot of admiration for the beautiful models he makes. I wonder what caused her to always represent them in flight and never on static display on trolleys. A warm greeting. I will continue to follow her in her extraordinary achievements. Congratulations for the sympathy and enthusiasm with which he presents himself to the you tube audience

    More brilliance straight out of Primedmodelworks Headquarters! I'm still not convinced you "learned this from another airbrush artist video." I think you have the natural artistic ability to pull off just about anything on your own. Whether it be from formal education, an art class on the side or inherited from a family member who had the same talents, doesn't matter! Your just extremely good at what you do and you make it look so easy! Plus you put together a super enjoyable video format narrated to perfection that leaves me thirsty for more every time! Cant wait to for the next project! One request, put Ringo in the next vid so we can see how big he is now! Cheers mate!

      I was gonna put Ringo in at the beginning but he was being camera shy...plus he’s as big as a cow! I’ll try to get him in on the next one. Thanks for the kind words my friend.

    You are definitely a very good artist with the airbrush. I am also very impressed with your figure painting, you've realy captured the look. I seem to get away with smaller scale figures at 1/35 but not the bigger stuff

    "Sometimes I like my dog better than my kids". Lol, we've all been there...dogs tend to do what you ask them to do and don't answer back! I love my kids dearly as I'm sure you do, but now mine have kids of their own, they appreciate the uncomplicated relationships they have with their own dogs! :-)
    And that's another great base by the way. You've inspired me to have a go at doing one myself...

    Great looking base. One suggestion would be to keep your light source in mind when doing the rivets, and use the same light source that you did for the panel lines, but that's nitpicking.

    • @seanerk5kt9
      @seanerk5kt9  Před 3 lety

      Thanks my friend...it’s funny you mention the light source on the rivets because I realized that this morning when I was looking at it.

    How are you liking your new little tank compressor? I’m getting ready to get one. Was it the “Zeny” from Amazon? Think it will be just fine for me.

    • @seanerk5kt9
      @seanerk5kt9  Před 3 lety

      Works great, however I’ve only been using it as a second compressor to my bigger one. Which means I really only use it when I spray on video because it’s quieter.

    Looks fantastic Sean! I'm still trying to source those bases for my own builds - got any ideas? Oh and I have an F-14 or three on the way too! Cheers, Chris

    • @seanerk5kt9
      @seanerk5kt9  Před 3 lety

      Thanks Chris. This base was just some pine I picked up at the lumber yard that my dad cut into shape and routed the edges. Here in the US, Michael’s craft store also has a wide variety of wood bases as well. If you haven’t built the Tamiya f-14 before, you’re in for a real treat...although closing up the gear bays for in-flight display is pretty tricky. If you need any suggestions when you get to that point, I’d be happy to explain what I found works best. My email is seanerk@hotmail.com

    • @beckersmodels
      @beckersmodels Před 3 lety

      Thanks Sean - yeah I've built the -A version last year, did it wheels up as the VX-4 all black Playboy version. Found the wheel bays relatively easy to closeup, I found building the nosewheel doors trickiest until I worked out you make it all one door, then glue it in! I'll do the same for my -D. Building 2 Academy 1/72 new tool Tomcats at the moment, very nice kits.
      Thanks for the tips on the base!
      Glad to see your channel doing so well mate - hope you and your family are safe as well. Cheers Chris

      It took me three kits before I figured out making the front bay doors into one was the way to go lol. I appreciate the kind words, watching your channel was a big inspiration to my model building. Cheers to you and yours as well my friend.

    I found the cricit on amazon, looks like you are using a clear sticker tape, but what is the yellow material?

    • @seanerk5kt9
      @seanerk5kt9  Před 3 lety

      It’s Tamiya sticker sheet. It’s like Tamiya tape but in a sheet. It’s what I find works best and you can get it on Amazon. Here’s a video that might help

    "probably". So you're saying there's a chance! I think even the raised look if you left the tape on, would have looked nice too! Perhaps cut some thin styrene sheets on that machine and use double sided tape to make it stick.
