  • In this video we will be using the shape we learned in the Unlock Your Fretboard series to play the Dorian Mode.
The Dorian mode is one of my favorite modes to use while playing. It helps you have more interesting sounding melodic development which will certainly make you sound more like a pro! Keep following this series to learn how to play all of your modes on your bass guitar fretboard.

Something that could be really helpful for these is overlaying a fretboard on screen with GP8 and having it highlight the notes as you play. Love these!

Thank you for the awesome bass lesson! Can you please elaborate on why the whole steps and half steps of the dorian mode resonates with your musicianship? Can you also play an example of how to create solo phrases from the mode? I know the notes of the scale can be played out of order, but an example of how to create phrases that are coherent would be cool. If not, it is understandable why a bass player would not demonstrate too much of creating solos because there can’t be bass players stealing solo ideas from other bass players. Lol. The information you already shared is generous.

Now that’s a unique comment! I’m playing bass on the beach right now but I’ll add that to my list of videos to create this fall. Subscribe and stick around!
