    As I keep growing and going, I will develop and add more plans to the site! Please comment or contact me and let me know what plans you want to see next! Thank you to everyone for the support! Without you and this community, I wouldn't be able to host and put up this content the way that I do. I hope to make this a more common occurrence in 2019! Thanks!
    Hello everyone,
    Our master bedroom was in desperate need of an overhaul. The main wall had a large mural (of Wrigley Field) on it at one point and the bank, that was selling the house, had the painters paint OVER it. The seams were bad and the paint had run and drip marks everywhere. I made the comment to my wife, that we should just put pallet wood over it. Let the project begin!
    So, here we are. We prepped all the walls and installed 4) LED 3" can lights with a dimmer switch. Word of mouth, and perfect timing, allowed for me to acquire more than 30 pallets to dismantle. I planed all of the boards and ripped them on the table saw to provide clean edges for uniformity in most of the rows. For the light switch cover, I cut a section of the wall board out and routed the back of it out and glued magnets into it to hold it to the switch.
    We chose the best looking boards for the upper section and then we stained a few random boards towards the bottom to keep the color similarity. I used brad nails and glue to attach the boards. After the install was done, we put on 3 coats of water-based poly.
    Enjoy!

      I used 2 1/2" brad nails. I only used glue on the shorter boards that were not falling on two studs. Thanks!

      I just mixed some colonial maple, English chestnut together and rubbed it into some of the boards. Only a handful of boards have stain. Everything is covered in a satin Polycrylic

      I used a blend of early American, English chestnut, and colonial maple from Minwax and then coated the wall with Minwax Polycrylic.

    I'm about to do this and was wondering if there was a reason you didn't just use finishing nails on the studs without the glue. Thanks for the video and any info.

      Hey there SD, I did not glue every board. The little spots that see me using glue were when the small board fell between two wall studs. There was nothing behind the drywall to nail to. Everything else was shot into stud using 2" brads. Thanks and good luck with your wall!

    since you ran all your boards through the planer, how come you decided to have them different thicknesses?

    • @CReevesMakes
      @CReevesMakes  Před 6 lety +3

      Hey Jacob, the thought did cross my mind, but after seeing how the boards were looking, we decided that we really like the dimensional look of different heights. Being that all the boards were random lengths and widths, I felt the thickness should be random as well. Call it personal preference. Thanks!

    What was your technique of dismantling the pallets so quickly? Also are you hitting studs with the nails?

    • @CReevesMakes
      @CReevesMakes  Před 6 lety

      A reciprocating saw and circular were used for most of the dismantling. I used a hammer and pry bar for the stubborn ones. If you do not want to maintain the long length boards, you can just cut out the good sections with a circ saw. That is the quickest way. They also make tools specifically designed for pallet dismantling, but I did not feel I needed one for this project. Hi, so this work on cemantic walls, would the glue stock well?

    • @CReevesMakes
      @CReevesMakes  Před 6 lety

      Do you mean ceramic? I would remove the ceramic tile first and get the wall as clean and flat as possible. You would need to use glue or find the wall studs or framing to attach the pallet slats to. Good luck! Thanks!

      Hello Ericka, I do not have a video of the light installation as it dark and poorly lit in the room during the installation. The lights were very easy to install and come with a hole template for cutting the ceiling. I had roughly 30 different sized pallets and did not use all of them. I had a bunch of left over wood so I just took the best boards for the wall. Good luck!

      I also used about 30 pallets for our 8'x12' pallet wall. I only expected 5-6 good boards per pallet and I needed 26 rows of 3-4 boards. czcams.com/video/YSX9awkg2eg/video.html

    • @CReevesMakes
      @CReevesMakes  Před 6 lety

      Hey there! I used 18ga 2-1/2" long brad nails. You have to accommodate for the wood thickness plus the drywall thickness. In areas where a small board only landed on one stud, I used some liquid nails adhesive to help hold the board in place.

    Just curious...what was done to make sure the pallets were safe and did not contain any harmful chemicals? Otherwise, looks really nice!

    • @CReevesMakes
      @CReevesMakes  Před 3 lety

      I only used pallets that were in good shape and from a dry goods shipping company. I planed the boards and then sanded them prior to staining some of them and then adding clear coat to all of them. Not sure that qualifies as guaranteeing their safe but the wood all looked really good.

    • @scottkimbleton4257

      For my pallet wood wall I used what ever pallets I could find. I decided to pressure wash all the boards since I left them all natural when I put them on the wall. czcams.com/video/YSX9awkg2eg/video.html
