I agree but Melo is on a different path than Zo and Melo. Reminds me of when I was a super fast running back and was brimming with confidence in a big game and so excited to get my first handoff and when I did I fumbled the ball right as I was about to break for a long gain. After that they never gave me the ball again. After the fumble I knew I was better than the others cause the hit did not even hurt but they never gave me the chance again. Gelo needs to warm up and get in rhythm before the games.
The thing is gelo been on the g league for a while now and cant even pop out some points at the next level with his type of experience??
Summer league is more competitive than the G league.....we already seen him go off there.
They where high picks the teams had to make them work gelo 1 sec late to practice and he cut

He is comfortable and the fact is he plays with these guys regularly, he has two brothers in the league and he has also trained with pros, this is his life he's been practicing since he was a kid, he has played with pros in the gym he is no stranger to this game. the only difference is this was a televised game for the Charlotte hornets main squad not g league, and yes like ball facts said it's the pregame jitters it's the pro NBA squad, you have to get that out. Honestly that's a shot he can hit 40 times out of 41 literally but yet he missed it and it's okay and I can guarantee you the coaches saw that also I know they agree

Gelo was definitely nervous first game jitters his shots was good I just feel like he was putting to much pressure on it. He was probably over thinking the game because he knows that if he does bad their gonna waive him,hopefully he play better next game. And also the whole team didn't play to well even melo

I don’t think they really need to be on the floor at the same time. With the time he was in he actually had good looks and players willing to pass him the ball unlike being on the Swarm.

Just nerves. This is the first time he's actually seen a real NBA court with legit NBA players outside of practice. It definitely looked like he was rushing trying to prove himself too quickly. Next game will be better for him.

so sad that miles is gone. he had such a good chemistry with lamello. i dont want to defend his actions if he sould be guilty but.. lamello and miles were one of the most exiting duo's in last season if you ask me. Gelo defenetly deserves a shot. but.. the end of the bench is probably all he can get at the moment and with that spot you just wont have much time you can share with lamello even tho it would be cool if they share the floor. i hope gelo puts in the hard work and is able to show some of his value he can bring to the team.

Man the Boston gym and La lakers gyms are the hardest to play in the entire world. More lights, different depth perception, the Ora of the banners and the statues and the acoustics lol. It’s not an excuse at all. But call
Me when he gets a bad game in Sacramento or okc or New Orleans. But it’s hard to play in Boston, LA, Denver, & Utah even Philly sometimes.

It’s a little hard after sitting all game your first game and getting some trash minutes at the end of a blowout not making excuses but that plus nerves of first game… we’ll hopefully he’s gets these opportunities every game in the preseason for a real look at can he contribute in a limited minutes role

My honest feelings are... I hate that he only played 4 minutes. I hate that he didn't get played with Melo, when Melo obviously could have used his help...losing by 30. I know Melo & Zo couldn't score in their 1st games either but I was disappointed that G didn't make atleast 1 of those threes... cuz he's better than that. I do think he wasn't 100% relaxed (but hey I wouldn't be either). but yeah I'm disappointed in how the Hornets are using him so far.

Your assessment seemed spot on. Oh my, Hornets looked like they were lost without a game plan or direction. Hornets performance didn't compare to their opponents. Hornets looked a step late on defense with no scheme on offense. It's just preseason, but they have a big climb ahead.

I just dont know why Gelo had jitters. He is supposed to be used to the spotlight. I am worried about Gelo cause it seems like when he is expected to play well he does not. He talks about playing hard and being ready when his time comes but he is not. He needs to warm up and shoot like 100 shots before every game now cause he does not have the luxury to be missing wide open shots in the preseason. His only job is to hit wide open shots. Thats all he really has to do.
@LiAngelo Ball that was not an option this game. you see Gelo only played 4 minutes so he cant miss 3 shots and then the next time pump fake and drive to the hoop and get an easy basket cause they taking him out and there is no ability to warm up. There is a double standard with Gelo and he has to fight that shit. Its tough but he needs to warm up before the games on his own cause they not trying to give him game time to do it.

At the Nba level someone with he's size needs driving speed to score in the paint, IMO 'Gelo has not demostrate that he can just drive and score at high level basketball (NBA).

Even though the NBA has become less physical and more finesse over the years, the Hornets will have games like this more often than not. Playing against physically bigger and stronger teams will give them and MJ fits this season. Sure Plumlee and Hayward are big and have "some" dog in them but it's different when a player is all dog. Montrez aside, it's easy to see the impact Bridges not being there has. He scrapped his way to the table just like Gelo but he also had the size, temperament and athleticism to neutralize that, "they're too little" approach from the opposing team. Should Gelo go in the post? I'd like to see it but I feel like he'd have to change his game in a way that might be detrimental. There's no hoe in him but he just doesn't have the vertical quickness to get off the floor with bigs playing in their natural positions. Sure he can out muscle some but he's going to wear down much faster in game leading to flat shooting and a confidence hit on the other end. I hope I'm wrong but as it stands right now, Gelo will catch fire in spurts until a defender runs him off the arc BUT larger bodied teams are going to punish the Hornets forcing them to keep games as track meets in order to compete.
You know why the hornets looked like this? It’s all due to the coaching they had the past few seasons. They don’t know how to run through melo nor is melo comfortable letting everyone feed off him anymore. Injuries also played a role, I feel once they get some chemistry/fit issues figured out they’ll be decent.
