    Also to note, this is a song that Blaze helped to write alongside Janick and Steve Harris during the Virtual XI album, but it ended up on Brave New World

  • @alessandrocasagranda4684
    @alessandrocasagranda4684 Před 2 lety +28

    The Nomad," "Dream of Mirrors" and "The Mercenary" were originally written for Iron Maiden's album Virtual XI, according to their guitarist Adrian Smith. He said there was a fourth song, but he didn't know which one it was and that Steve Harris did not remember either. Assuming no songs were re-written with Bruce Dickinson or Adrian Smith, this leaves "The Thin Line Between Love and Hate" as the only possible song it could be. Harris denied that "Blood Brothers" was one of them. Apparently, former singer Blaze Bayley also co-wrote "Dream Of Mirrors," but wasn't credited.
    Amazing song from Blaze era😉

    "Dream of Mirrors" my favorite song on the Brave New World! BUT! The Nomad, Thin Line Between Love and Hate are special gems. Out of the Silent Planet is just beautiful...Fallen Angel is badass and this...Brave New World is my favorite Iron Maiden album. #hurm1t #UPTHEIRONS

    Regarding repetitiveness, IMO the difference between Blaze era songs and post reunion songs that have repetitive lyrics is there's more layers instrumentally in the post reunion stuff.
    A sixth band member brings more flavour for such things.

    • @DM-rc4yu
      @DM-rc4yu Před 2 lety

      Out of the Silent Planet is a good example of this too. On paper very repetitive but there's always something different going on behind the vocals.

    • @off1k
      @off1k Před 2 lety

      @@DM-rc4yu Yes, a major difference is listening to these songs with headphones on, I think you pick up the instrumental stuff in the background easier unless you got some decent speakers and turned up a bit.

    A great song on this album, one of the best reunion Maiden songs and great lyrics too. "I only dream in black and white I only dream 'cause I'm alive I only dream in black and white To save me from myself" This is yet another song based on reoccurring and maybe premonitory dreams, pretty much like in 'Infinite Dreams, but better. Steve Harris is known for having these dreams which, without being particularly premonitory. Glad you liked it so much Hurm. My favorite on the this album.

    I can’t get over that Bruce and Adrian has been been back for 22 years but originally were only in the band for 8 and 9 respectively. Janick has been there for 32 years and he’s still the new boy.

    Moving forward past this album, you'll find longer songs but generally less repetition vocally (For the Greater Good of God being one exception). The repetition shifts to the instrumental side on some of the best songs you'll hear, much like a great movie that's 30 minutes longer than it needs to be, turning it into just a good movie. Mostly courtesy of Steve Harris. When the Wild Wind Blows, The Red and the Black, Empire of the Clouds (Dickinson), Death of the Celts, The Parchment are probably the best examples. Mostly fantastic....if only a few minutes were shaved off each instrumentally. Dream of Mirrors would rank much higher with me if it was 6 - 7 minutes instead of 9+.

    One of the stronger tracks on this record... one of the longer songs and it comes across great, including the live concert settings. Listen to the difference in sonic production and mix of this track to prior stuff like "Don't look to the eyes of a stranger" (which did not have that 'depth' that Kevin Shirley gave here).
