The memes aren't making fun of Gillen in particular at all. The whole scene is so absurd that it's funny. I hope he doesn't feel like it's people hating on him because it isn't.
If anybody other than him played CIA, I don't think it'd be the same. He's the star of the show.
Yeah, he got it exactly wrong. It's a BAD film and that's not his fault in any way. He did alright with the dumb lines he was given.
The bad sound editing hit me first, TBH. The accents kind of put them all on the wrong foot. That said, if they meant to be entertaining, they achieved that.
I've been baneposting for years, its funny because of how awkward the wording and tone is. Gillan himself is not a bad actor... for me
his presence, his voice cadence, i love the scene so much i must have watched it 30 times.

Do you feel in charge?
Appreciate when someone advocates "free-form" auditions and acting. I know directors like Wes Anderson ask their cast to hit a few key marks, then between, they can act pretty much however they like -- and it shows, in a good way. Less production, more creation.
He's the main entertainment we got out of that mess of a movie! It's not him getting made fun of it's the absolutely preposterous scene

The mention of Jamie Thraves and all he and Aidan did together....amazing work. The Low Down and Treacle Jr. are two of my favourite performances from Aidan. I love that Aidan talked about this. Awesome!! 39:56...I saw it!!

Q: The Knights of the Vale scene was so reminiscent of something from “Lord of the Rings.” Do you think Littlefinger could secretly be Gandalf? Were the similarities ever discussed? Any homages there?
A: I don’t think Littlefinger and Gandalf are related. There is, of course, that similarity in showing up with the army to save the day at a crucial moment which may have been a homage, but it’s also a common storytelling trope. But nothing discussed, no. Interestingly, well before that Episode 9 scene aired, there was a picture circulated and widely reported on of Littlefinger allegedly wearing a watch in a sequence in The Vale. Gandalf has also been pictured wearing a watch while wielding a sword in “LOTR.” This could mean they both have some kind of common system going on, but while I can’t vouch for Gandalf, I could see straight away that my picture, while well executed, was very obviously mocked up from an image from the opening sequence of “Dark Knight Rises.” That’s where the hands and watch come from - they’re mine, but from something else. They even threw in a belt that wasn’t there and besides, I’ve never worn a watch in real life, so that could never have happened anyway. I don’t know about Ian McKellen’s watch, but it’s always nice to be in stellar company on CZcams mashups.

OK imma go off on a tangent here but like Carcetti is clearly an Italian name and I understand why it would be difficult because he’s an Irishman, but, as a gal with an Italian family background, shouldn’t it be pronounced Carsetti or Carchetti? This distracted me the entire show. Other than that I completely love the wire though. One of my favorite shows ever ❤️❤️❤️
