  • On an great idea of "canne" ( • Victorinox cybertool r... ) but who hadn't explained or shown anything. He had used a 4*2 mm magnet, I preferred to use a 4*1 mm magnet so that the Victorinox ball bits would be better inserted.
    So be careful, you shouldn't put more than a tiny drop of glue on it, otherwise it's a disaster!
    In addition, it is necessary to have a column of identical magnets to be able to recover the magnet that has come off and misaligned!

    Magnet bonding procedure:
    - arrange in column enough magnets so that this column exceeds the conduit and can be withdrawn,
    - on the magnet that will be glued, put a very small drop of glue, the glue must not overflow from its application surface when it is pressed to the bottom of the duct,
    - introduce the column precisely, press the column and wait,
    - remove the column which will leave the magnet glued to the bottom of the duct.

    Well done. If you ever need to get it out without heat, just pour some acetone down the hole :)

  • @ilya2800
    @ilya2800 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Alternative decision is don't use glue and just set up some pad between the magnet and bit. For example you can stick on piece of duct tape on the magnet. In this case the force between the magnet and the bit holder will be stronger than between the magnet and the bit. The bit will be inserted and removed without problems and the magnet will stay on his place. And you always can remove the magnet and return the Cybertool in the initial state in this case. I did similar adaptation with my multitool Daicamping DL12 . You can see video here czcams.com/users/shortseShgM5k0R_c?si=Lt3053YbvTRw2dO3

    Excellent, thank you for showing so clearly!! Will afterwards 4mm bits for in the Cybertool storage? I'm assuming they are held there by the retention ball but maybe a magnet would fit in that storage too..?

    • @diezelle57
      @diezelle57  Před 3 lety

      The goal is to take as many bits as possible. This is the reason why the standard 4mm ball-less bits are held in the driver by a small magnet knowing that they cannot fit in the slots of the Cybertool.

  • @TC-cp1vb
    @TC-cp1vb Před 5 lety +1

    Cool! Do you think these magnets would work on Leatherman's bit extender too?

    • @diezelle57
      @diezelle57  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes, but it would be better to use magnets with a larger diameter, 6 mm, and thicker, 6 mm (2*3).
      Problem :
      - if you glue magnets to prevent the 1/4" bits from sinking, you will no longer be able to use the Leatherman bits.
      That's why I opted for a removable, non-magnetic solution, using two small nuts glued together for a height of 6.4 mm, together that you can see in this video : LEATHERMAN SCHOOL : How to use 1/4" bits & sockets? [Leatherman & Diegel Methods] : czcams.com/video/ag1LVS2dSk0/video.html

    Hello! I was glad to see your video on the CyberTool adapter, cause I picked up one of those a couple of weeks ago (this time, BEFORE I saw your presentation)! But just after placing some glue on one of those magnets, it got sucked up and became attached to one of the fillings in my teeth! Then, when I picked up my Engineer Titanium Tweezers (PTN-03) to remove the magnet, both the magnet and the filling came loose and I accidentally swallowed them both! The worst part is that because of this, every time I walk through one of those metal detectors, it goes off! Anyway, I still think it is a very good idea! 😉

      A small drop of glue on the first magnet; then simply remove the column.

    It is surprising that why Victorinox uses an old method to keep/retain the bits snugly by providing ball in stead of magnetized bit holder. I have purchased a Cybertool L a few days ago and has thought of using a tiny 4 mm magnet by gluing it with cyanoacrylate resin before watching this video. Anyway, it's nice and validates my idea.
    Thanks.

      Maybe it is because it used to be said that any magnetic field could damage small electronic components.

    • @petramunster8635
      @petramunster8635 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@thelred-ph3lq No, small electronic components usually are not damaged by a magnetic field. This may only be the case for spinning(!) harddiscs. But even there you need a very strong field to cause any damage. The design of the Cybertool is now about 25 years old (the first model came out around 1999/2000) and was never changed since then. Back in the late 1990ies, using small neodymium magnets in screwdrivers was not that common and even today there are bit drivers with mechanical retention systems. Also when you want to keep double sided bits in a driver, magnets may not be enough if the part which will touch the magnet is just the tip of a PH0 Philips head.

    • @diezelle57

      Я хорошо описал операцию (см. Описание):
      - не наносите много клея на магнит, особенно не по краям, нет необходимости переполнения давлением,
      - вставьте магнит в столбик с магнитом, нажмите, подождите и снимите столбец.
      I have described the operation well (see description):
      - do not put a lot of glue on the magnet, especially not on the edges, it is not necessary that there is overflow with the pressure,
      - insert the magnet with the magnet column, press, wait and remove the column.
      J'ai pourtant bien décrit l'opération (voir en description) :
      - ne pas mettre beaucoup de colle sur l'aimant, surtout pas sur les bords, il ne faut surtout pas qu'il y ait débordement à la pression,
      - insérer l'aimant avec la colonne d'aimants, appuyer, attendre et retirer la colonne.

    BE CAREFUL WITH MAGNET COLUMNS!
    I also tried it with a column of identical disc magnets, 4x1 mm each - they just stuck in and do not came out again! Now my knife is ruined and I can't use the screw driver any longer😞No, I did not even use glue for my first try, just used the magnet column to test the procedure as it looks so simple in the video. Victorinox will not repair this under warranty, the knife is garbage now.

    • @petramunster8635
      @petramunster8635 Před 4 měsíci

      I will try to glue a long screw with a 3 mm flat head to the top of the magnet column which is stuck inside the driver. If that works, I may be able to take out one magnet after the other - but I wonder, how you managed to pull out the magnet column in one piece. Did you glue the magnets together first?

    • @petramunster8635
      @petramunster8635 Před 4 měsíci

      Ok, the first magnet is out - but the others still stuck inside. So I will glue the one magnet with the screw to the next one and so on... since the glue has to set first, before I can pull the magnet out, this will take a couple of days.

    • @petramunster8635
      @petramunster8635 Před 4 měsíci

      Success at last! It took only two magnets on the screw to get the remaining column out again.
      I now glued one magnet to a 3 mm allen wrench so I could use that to position a second magnet inside the bit holder.

      petramunster8365 hey, thanks for your comments since he didn’t show how he removed the column.
      So to install the magnet, you suggest to glue a magnet to the Allen wrench then use that glued wrench magnet to insert another magnet with glue on the bottom into the driver?
      Thanks, I’m trying to figure this out without ruining this expensive knife.
