      If you’re talking about that Jewish bread called challah bread, it’s pronounced hollah
 like, I’ll hollah at you later. Aka, holler. Basically the C is silent in the name of the bread

    i make the french toast casserole but only use half the amount of cheese and cut them in smaller chunks, and the berry syrup is a MUST! it provides the sweetness to balance the cheesy/egginess of the bread. it always gets devoured at our table! đŸ€€

    We make the French toast casserole and love it! It was a mistake to not add syrup on top at the end. You NEED that sweetness!

    • @RTCPhotoWork
      @RTCPhotoWork Pƙed 2 lety +6

      I've found that when recipes advise how to make a syrup for on top it's because they created the recipe to need it. Using a berry compote and whisking soft cream cheese with it might help the chunks of cream cheese and the sweetness factor without as much sugar in the in...maybe.

    • @Mamaisawake

      I came to the comments to see if anyone said this helped. It called for syrup so
 seems like it would be way better with it.

    When doing any kind of egg scramble I like to add about a tablespoon of dried chicken bullion. It adds that extra something to spruce up the egg flavor. Also, dill is a fun herb to add to eggs.
    Kimmy, great recipes! Glad to see something new!

    Hey Kimmy, I love all the casseroles and can't wait to try them. I would suggest using the cream cheese from the cinnamon rolls to use in the blueberry casserole and add some powdered sugar to sweeten it up more.

  • @jean-mariefogarty6165
    @jean-mariefogarty6165 Pƙed 2 lety +16

    For the blueberry one I would mix the cream cheese with some sugar and vanilla and spread it on instead of cutting it. The blueberry sauce would make a difference, too. I like to make an eggnog french toast casserole for the holidays...use eggnog in place of any milk. I also put brown sugar/butter mixture on the bottom with chopped pecans on bottom and all through. Love your channel! You are looking beautiful and love the new haircut!

      If you did not like straight cream cheese, I am guessing you still like the idea of cream cheese and blueberry- like cheesecake
 so I would suggest, you mix your cream cheese with a little powdered sugar (or regular sugar), and egg.. and scoop that it. It will have the taste of cheesecake versus straight cheese. That also might make it sweet enough to your liking even if you do not drizzle blue berry syrup on the top.

      The breakfast casserole you made and loved and declared it was your new Christmas breakfast casserole. I do that one but use the shredded potato patties on the bottom. Super easy, super delicious. I love love the green onion; peppers mix on top
 and I cook it less long than you had, it does not get quite so brown. It’s delicious and great to serve for a big people gathering breakfast.

    Challah bread (caa-la)
    Is a sweet bread. Similar soft texture as French bread.
    Any other breads will need more sugar or syrup. Mix your cream cheese with a little milk and the syrup to make it pourable.
    Your "New Christmas Casserole" can be made in a crock pot.
    Takes about 4 hours on low depending on your pot.
    Biscuits and gravy look so good.
    Nice video. Thanks.

    I make this casserole for Christmas except I use bread crumbs/chunks as a bottom layer. I just take stale or old bread and tear onto chunks on bottom then, potatoes, sausage, veggies, cheese then egg mixture. I let it set overnight before baking that way the eggs soak into the bread. This makes a nice crust. I've changed up potatoes and used diced (also good) I've changed up sausage and used leftover ham chunks. I find this recipe is very versatile as long as you have all your layers it's delicious. Bread layer, potatoe layer, meat layer, veggie layer, cheese layer and egg mixture on top. I use this to clear out my fridge. Enjoy

    Challa bread is pronounced like Ha-lla bread ;) Its DELICIOUS! There's tons of recipes online. You should try and make it. It uses a lot of egg yolks so you might want to figure out something to make with the whites, add them to something else or make an omlette or something like that.

    The Farmers Market Casserole
 I have for YEARS done something very similar. Instead of the shredded hash browns- go with hash brown patties!!!!! So fast so easy and is heartier. I change it up all the time with ingredients- bacon or ham or sausage, depending on what I have or the crowd it will feed. Some times all three! Otherwise basically the same- just swap the potatoes to the patties. I do want to try your enchiladas! And biscuits and gravy casserole! Thanks so much!

Sprinkle cinnamon sugar over top. Bake until egg mixture is cooked through. Serve and fust with powder sugar or whip cream

    I'd make the cream cheese cubes much smaller and I'd mix them with the eggs. There was only 1/4 c of any sweetening as in your maple syrup. For that many eggs and that much bread you'd definitely need 1/2 to 3/4 a cup I reckon. Also maybe the addition of the blueberry syrup would have made it seem sweeter?

I know you have gone gluten free for quite a while to help with your health issues. How much have you gone gluten free? And how well has it been helping you? I'm asking because I'm also considering going gluten-free I have fibromyalgia and neuropathy and I know that I'm possibly sensitive to it due to some test the doctor did. I'm just curious as another person's perspective what they feel the pros and cons of going gluten free for their health has been. Could you possibly do a video about that?

    Smaller cream cheese or soften and mix with eggs like thinner cheese cake filling. More blueberries with blueberry syrup in the blueberries. Kind of like a thick loaded blueberry pie filling. Any french toast without syrup isn't near as good. With the added sweetness and the blended cream cheese and eggs will improve it a lot.

    Just the video I needed to see to cheer me up after an awful day. I stepped on a big rusty nail and drove it right up my foot, had to get it removed and a tetanus shot. Now I'm home alone trying to take care of my 5 month old while barely able to walk 😔 finally got him down for the night so I'm looking forward to your video!!

    I would soften the cream cheese or use whipped and I would also add a little sugar and mix the cream cheese with the egg and see if that help in clump the cheese but it looked good

    To make the French toast better I would toss the bread cubes in butter and sugar. I would blend the cream cheese with half the egg mixture and swirl it in like cheese cake filling. I would sprinkle the top with sugar and definitely make a blueberry compote to serve with it!

    There is a great bed and breakfast in Corydon, Indiana called the Kintner House. If you go to their website they have a great breakfast dish. Use sausage. Enjoying your video.
