Engine and tranny swapped my gto. Dream car besides the laing color, so billet block ls engine iirc it's based on an ls7 but tweaked alot. Got it used from a race team but barely used. Junk yard builds can also work. Wanted to keep the stock ram air 4 engine in good condition with the tranny while I look for era correct parts for a vintage build.
Throw a good 5 or 6 speed in the Trans am. Upgrade brakes and suspension for grip along with the rubber.
Build an ls for boost like decently high boost. But instead of a turbo OR a super. Run both. Twin charging done right gives you compound boost which gets you up to the high final boost numbers. But you can remove turbo lag and also help the effiency of the super. Turbo also gets some effiency gains because you can generally run more effienct set ups for both. Also doesn't need the newest fanciest stuff. Works really well with older roots turbos and just nice turbos. Can help with thermals a bit as well.
Realistically you could get the engine done for like 5 to 7 grand. Twin charger set up depending how lucky you are it's not much more then a basic turbo or super set up, not quite the cost of both but the cost of the turbo set up with a few pieces from the super set up.
Helps with back pressure and other issues both have as well. And done the way mine is you also are always drawing colder air into the system so helps with cooling. Kinda also the cheater way to get tuning set up for really flat torque curve, you can make sure the engine can flow enough air at high rpms by kinda force feeding it flow through put from the induction set up.
How do you find car people that wanna race? My luck I'd find someone with a nice car that has no idea and thinks I'm harassing them.

Eh, pulls are not top speed, and cornering and stability are way better in the Mustang too. Maybe faster off the line, but in the full mile a Mustang would probably win because it's gear ratios vs Redline RPM = higher top speed
He definitely felt intimidated. Without knowing the numbers on this turbo Honda can’t really say how much of a gap there is between the two. But the mustang is no slouch trust me

Try a lower rpm launch. Or once you feel your tires spinning hard letting off the gas a bit. Gotta play around with it. Try different techniques.
On my Z I launch low.. like 1500-2000 rpm max..
I’m able to roll off quick and gas it 100% .
Every other VQ I’ve raced launches at 4K+ and they always spin and waste time while I already gripped and am already in 2nd gear.

I'll be getting cams and going E47 and maxing out the Z54 turbo set up first so I can go bigger when the warranty is up on it hah.
I wanna see how far the turbo can go reliably bc alot of ppl bashing but so far for a fraction of the price of most bolt on turbos for my HHR SS it is a great bang for the buck.
The scene in general has died out, at least where I am at is what I was aiming at. Alot of oversized spoilers on straight piped 350z type scene put here, while my original paintjob that is begging for a buff and wax, HHR SS is putting lengths on them on the first pull...but hey diff strokes for diff folks but not my cup of tea so I stay home until then.

Nothing makes me smile more then people with completely different cars coming together, having some fun on the highway and both drivers smiling all the way. To me that's what the car scene is all about. Let it be known that the youtube comments are not representative of what I see in real life, I barely had anyone ever look mad at me or disrespect my ride after I did some pulls on the highway with whoever. 99% of the time it ended up with smiles, thumbs up and even the occasional stop at a gas station to catch up and talk about each others cars.
