I took my 10 year old daughter fly fishing on a local beginner river and she loves it! She's been out with me 4 times this summer and we still do hook and hand but she's totally happy with that for now. I took my 13 year old son last week for the first time to the same place and he was hooking and netting fish on his own using my 10' euro rod. He figured it out really fast. He asked if I would get him his own rod so I bought myself an Echo Shadow x and handed him my old one. I hope he develops a love for the sport.

I love these videos! You are patient and encouraging, and most importantly, you make it fun for them, whether that is fishing, eating snacks in the boat, or playing with larvae. Many parents could learn from you how to properly get their kids into the outdoors.
So cool. I was just looking at some pictures with my grandson from eleven years ago doing his second fly fishing trip with me. He's now 21 and always ask me for some time to go out for a few days to the mountains. It is one of those things that makes one appreciate life. Thank you for sharing a family adventure

Great job teaching your boys to fish. Mixing fishing and making it fun. We floated the Holston and one grandson was in his own float boat, he was jumping and swimming where we were trying to fish. The next day it dawned on me that he actually had the most fun. 😂🤦♂️ liv my grandkids, still teaching me.
