Verdon 1977

The Gorges du Verdon (aka "Grand Canyon du Verdon") is the largest gorge in the european alps and a famous destination for kayakers. Between Castellane and the Lac de Sainte-Croix, the Verdon has cut itself up to 700m deep into the rock. The river offers a class III and IV (12 m3/sec) tour, including a spectacular passage through a long, dark cave.
We met there with my parents in June 1977. My father had already paddled this river with me in the summer of 1974. This time he followed us with his camera on the river bank.
