I'm 35 and I've noticed the older I get, the worse I look with heavy make up. I think all that foundation and highlighter is only making fine lines and textured skin more prominent on your mom.
Your mom is pretty, and she's lucky to have you. Your intentions were sweet and well meant, but you actually magnified all her lines and texture which at her age you have to be careful of. Her skin looked much smoother and younger before you did her makeup. Remember... with mature skin, less is more.
I was thinking the same, I found advice to do under eye concealer just on the inner corner and under not outer crows feet area when 40 and it's my new way to do it helps so much. Her eyes looked nice with the shadows and lashes, but everything else was too shimmery, glowy, shiny, looked like she was sweating.
