The Acura NSX. The car that showed everyone that you *didn't* have to tolerate the unreliability of the Italians or the British to have a high-performance sports car.

Ilavero, I had to wait 24 years and felt like I got a fair deal at 32K. Pristine '91, 48K miles. Seems the prices might be creeping up. Driving in north Georgia a couple years ago I stopped for gas and there were some Porsche guys fueling up too. One of them came up "bet this thing doesn't break down like mine does"...

The black looks cheap for a car of that price point, is what he meant. The dash looks like it’s made from the same black plastic you’d find in a Honda family sedan. Cars like Ferrari had padded leather dashes that were the same color as the seats, and a lot of other cars had dashes that just had a more expensive look. But he is right about the build quality; that plastic is very durable and the Japanese cars have always been praised for their build quality.

Don't know why they keep the pact for more than 10 years. High end performance cars like the NSX and Skyline GT-Rs shouldn't be limited in horsepower. Displacement tax, insurance, yearly inspections are already more than tough enough in Japan. People will still put performance mods their cars regardless.

What a great road test! I don't know how they thought the Ferrari had more interior style than the Acura. Ferrari interiors from that era are far from stylish or modern. GTR still destroys in the track, the new NSX (although not as sought after as the first generation) is a beast, and actually is superior to the old NSX in every way. Mazda Miata is amazing still, and the civic type R is now a force to be respected. Nissan 370Z is about to be redesigned to the 400z (all new styling as well). And the new Toyota Supra, although smaller than the A80 Supra, is going to be more powerful, and more nimble than its predecessor. I'd say the Japanese have it handled. 91 was a great vintage. You got this nice ride and you got the all time greatest song ever written, recorded and produced......Doo Doo Brown by 2 Hyped Brothers and a dog. A true global masterpiece.

around 1991 i was working at the front counter of a gym pretty much doing nothing bored out of my mind, when one of the gym members who worked for a car dealership popped in and said, "hey dude. you want to go for a ride?" we went outside and jumped in a brand new NSX and went screaming around a new industrial park that had smooth, freshly paved streets. it was like a little race track. the experience was incredible. the thing i remember the most was how smooth the ride was, and the sweep of the nose was so low that looking out the window it seemed like you could almost not even see the nose. it was like we were looking right at the pavement

I have a 1991 NSX and it is by far the best car I have ever owned. The only down side is that this car gets an enormous amount of attention from everyone, half of the time people whip out their phone when I drive by, so I definitely do not daily drive it, but it is a joy to drive. .

You're right about the prices intending on staying in the high ranges. This car is only increasing in price. I remember back in 2005 this car cost about 25k. Now, it costs as much as 100k depending on condition and dealer. Especially if it's a targa top.

this car aged well, much better than the 348 with it's early 90's/late 80's styling. That ferrari lost a lot of it's value (near 50%) while early decent NSX's worth about 70%+ of what they cost new.

I left one of those in my rear view like a small dot back in early 90s with my 88 IROC Pro Tour 383SC/T56 6-Speed manual/6-point cage/315s in the fenders/road race suspension. Guy was pissed...I laughed at him. I was PRO TOUR way before it was invented.

i know MotorWeek's 1/4 mile times are slower than they should be, but still 14.0 at 103mph is pretty bad for a "supercar". I bought a bone stock 2004 PT Cruiser GT Turbo 5-speed for $500 and put a catless down pipe and got a Diablo sport tuner and it ran 14.1 at 101mph my 1st time down the track. I also have a 3rd gen Camaro but its just a 1982 with a 350 vortec from a truck and a T5 WC 5-speed and a IROC kit and bumpers from a later model, mines kinda beat up and junk though. Yours seems like it is a lot of fun

congrats your souped up shitbox beat an old 90's car that had a small v6 everybody is clapping lol... and power figures where held back due to the gentlemen's agreement in japan where you had to limit hp to around 270 which sucks. also the ferrari of the same year was slower than the nsx on 0-60 and 1/4 mile with a 3.4 v8.. 2 more cylinders and more displacement and it was more gutless it reminds me of american cars yall talk out of your ass...
