Became homeless earlier last year. I had listened to this awhile beforehand, but had forgotten about it.
Now?
Well... it definitely hits differently.
Because of that, it has become far more special to me.
I don't know what the inspiration was when you wrote this, but I want to thank you for putting it out there so a guy like me can see it.
We are not always seen. And this, certainly helps me feel like like we are still being noticed by the world.
And on a personal note, it just seems to be helping me work through some things while trying to find my way.
So thank you Tommee & Fjora for this magnificent collaboration which now holds a special place in my heart & library.

This IS an amazing music.
I'm writing a story and one of the characters is an assassin who has to continue moving and can never really settle down in one place for long (for obvious reasons). One of their long-term goals throughout the books is to finally settle down, build a house, and live out their days in comfort and serenity, but that's a pretty hard thing to accomplish with the plot lines and character arc I'm planning for them. This music has really helped me put some more emotion and imagery to my character and I'm excited to keep working on this arc!
Fellow (aspiring) writer here, good luck on your book! Keep working on it. I'm working on my own story right now, but I keep getting distracted by the music. Heheh.

Personally my story I’m working on is about a special human, gifted with the blood of a powerful breed of dragon. But as he is a genetic anomaly, he is constantly on the run as he doesn’t really belong anywhere. Humans hate him because he could annihilate them so easily, but in reality... He’s human too, he’s a gentle man with a kind heart that’s rejected by the world. He’s accepted by dragons, but he just wants to be himself. He wants to be human. Leaving him a wanderer, who doesn’t belong anywhere.
Where do you go when you don't belong?
Simple. To my books.
The day I'll be turning my back on my "home" and finally take a step into the world, this is the song I'll be holding in my heart.

once upon a time, i listened to this and felt saddened.
now i listen to this and still feel saddened, but not because i feel alone.
i'd almost rather be a vagabond right now, just travelling forever and ever on the road. no real home, and no real community, but that would be fine by me. sure, getting food and the such would be hard but hey at least i'd be free.
society and university sure do funny things to people, don't they?
This makes me think of someone who was born with the knowledge of how the Universe was going to end. So all their life they've been traveling, trying to warn people and figure out how to stop it. (Hence "everything here will all be gone." They're so consumed with the fact that the world is ending and it will all mean nothing, that they can't bring themselves to form bonds with anyone. All they can do is search desperately for a way to stop the apocalypse. And the end of the song can be them either dying as the world collapses around them, or it can be them realizing how important all those things they neglected were - friends, family, life experiences, etc - and sacrificing themselves to stop the end of the world.
Or they could have been cursed with the knowledge when they were young ("Past places and people you *once* brought to life") But I like them being born with it better because of "Orphaned before you were ever young."

This song feels really special and unique. It oddly encapsulates so many contradicting feelings in a way. I feel this sort of a mysterious atmosphere coupled with something thoughtful, sad, a yearning feeling, restlessness, but also a feeling of hope, determination, and inner strength. Beautiful music, beautiful, haunting voice. Thank you for letting me experience this.

I'm currently playing a bard in a 5e campaign and thought it'd be a great idea to have her play a few songs about how she feels about the other party members. I chose this one for the Paladin whom I know nothing about except that he's 'not from around here'. So I played the song and the player looked at me and said 'OMG have you been peeking at my notes?!' which I hadn't.. and then said that after the first few lines his character would ask me to stop playing and question if I knew him, what I knew, how did I know he was an orphan and a few other things. Apparently I accidentally hit on some background we weren't supposed to have insight on yet XD

specially fallout 4 because the main character is cryogenized in a shelter when the great war is declared after the bomb has been released which plunges the whole world into silence. the character wakes up after 200 years of the long frozen sleep to be confronted with a world which he does not know any more.
