John Critch Didn't get that far at the time :D Well... Capaldi is a conundrum, i think. He makes you think of a protective father figure, but at the same time he's scary. He's the scariest of the Doctors so far. So i'd say Capaldi is the Doctor come of age. A mature Doctor.
I think Chris is like a father, David is like a brother, and Matt is like a child! :) For crying out loud people, I never meant in relation to Rose/Billie, I meant to people in general. Obviously, The Doctor and Rose were in love.
I always thought that Chris was the more fatherly doctor, David was the lover out of all of them, and Matt was the awesome uncle that you always wanted to spend the weekend with.
I see Matt's Doctor more like your favourite big brother or cousin than an uncle, but I see your point. I guess both Chris's and David's Doctor had a fatherly feel to them in a way, both were very protective of Rose. But I always thought Ten and Rose felt a bit more like equals, whereas Nine he was more authoritative. Loved them both though.
I think how she described the Doctors 9, 10, and 11 was spot on. She came across as thoughtful and truthful. I also think she looks fine. She's not Rose, she's Billie Piper. Be less shallow. It will do you good.
It's a testament to the actors skill that people forget, they are just actors pretending to be someone else...or their idiots either way Billie Piper was a fantastic actress
What I liked about David is that behind that energetic indie pop artist front there was always this deep awareness of all the implications of a problem that he tries to shield from the innocent. That's what made Doctor Who perfect for the whole family. Kids don't see a fun-loving action hero but the older someone gets the more wary and dark the show becomes as these subtle cues start to translate.
christopher ecclestone was fantastic wanted to see more. be great to see him as good guy in something. a tv show like tge equalizer or something like that
Sarah Stöbe Matt was very much like a child, but I do believe that River Song helped bring him along. That good bye kiss they shared made Matt look more like a lover than either of the other Doctors.
Billie Piper; you're the greatest! I'll miss you on Dr. Who, and I'll love you forever and ever and ever. I can't explain how deep you touch my heart. Wish I could know you somehow.
This modern era began in 2005 what so many fail to realize is the reason we are still watching and talking about Dr Who is because of Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper. They created a great new show full of all kind of great new characters and plots. Watching Billie flirt with Captain Jack then seeing number 9 suddenly finding where his feet were and spinning Rose about with a big old grin on his face. Even Jack realized he had no chance there, not with the way those two looked at each other. And then there were Mom Jackie and Mickey and Harriet Carter future Prime Minister. As well as the excellent are you my Mummy? And the alien ship slicing through Big Ben so many iconic moments. From the moment the Doctor introduced himself to Rose and told her simply by the way...run!!! And she did without a question you knew she was the next companion. I know this was a David Tennant episode but when they were all in the school and Mary Jane Smith sees the TARDIS...then after her and the Doctor are catching up one of the best moments in the new show is Mickey looking at how well those two are getting along then sees the look on Roses face...he gets it right away...the new girlfriend and the Mrs!!! Elizabeth Sladden was the best of the classic Companions... and Billie was probably the best of the new era. I loved Amy but she was always part of a duo with Rory the Roman. I hate that River never got to interact with Number 9 or Rose. I have no problem with a female Doctor or one of color but I hate the way Chibnall gutted the shows history and have refused to watch anything after Capaldi left. When they decide to throw out all of the nonsense that Chibnall created I may watch again, till then it's reruns of Tom Baker and 9 through 12!
Yes, exactly - Nine's Doctor was the one scarred by the war. I also think that Eleven was more the fatherly Doctor, seeing as he was officially Good With Kids. Ten was more the foxy lover.
Nah. He's mostly remembered for raging at the Daleks, but if you actually rewatch series 1, he had a lot of sass, manic explosion loving, flirtyness and unexpected street smarts going on; When they were trying to investigte a situation, Nine was more likely to pop into the next pub or turn on the television than do a scan or pop over with the TARDIS. . The others would probably go with the scan... IN the pub, leaving some unlucky companion to explain him to the locals. XD Besides, the traumatized angle has pretty much been a constant for all of the new series, that did not stop with Nine, Ten got some of the more dramatic scenes in that respect.
Even though Tom B is my all time favorite doctor, when Chris E took on the role it was so refreshing to see the Doc in regular clothes. Really brought it back to earth.
To me it's like all reversed lol. Chris is the wartorn, anger filled Doctor David is the unstable, unhinged one. Always hiding behind a fake smile but the moment he is challenged on something he becomes terrifying. And Matt is like the father of the Ponds, perfectly encapsulating an old man trapped in a young man's body.
Regardless of the changes in actors and shifts in personalities of The Doctors.. One thing always remains a constant. Just as The Master is always a psychopath striving for some form of greater power.. The Doctor is always a manic-depressive super genius with some tendencies of a sociopath. Eccleston represented the more balanced Doctor. Tennant represented the introspective Doctor hitting the borders. Matt Smith represented the more extreme Doctor. Waiting for Capaldi to truly establish his version, beyond the repressed empathy.
I got much more of a romance vibe between the Tenth Doctor and Rose than anything else. I think the Ninth Doctor regenerated younger and more full of life because he fell in love with her. With Martha he was exhibiting a classic case of rebound, but he could never get over Rose. And Rose began to fall in love with him too. No sister/daughter-figure gets jealous of other companions and comments on how old they are. And I'm not saying that makes Rose a bad person who willingly strung Micky along. I think that the Doctor just began to monopolize her entire attention beyond the domestic-sounding idea of 'boyfriend,' and she only began to realize the name to those feelings for him, as her soul-mate, when she was about to lose him.
I dunno, I do think Rose was in love with the Doctor by the end of season 1. I think it was the Doctor who couldn't admit how he felt about her until the very end. I think he was afraid to admit he loved her. But you're absolutely right, I adored the romance between Rose and 10, it was so well built up over the two seasons that Doomsday becomes the saddest episode of Doctor who we will ever see. I never fail to cry when they're talking on the beach. I also loved the romance between Clara and 12. I think they had such a strong relationship, it's not like intimate romance, but I feel it definitely is romance. Of course, much more toxic and codependent than Rose and 10.
Wow...this blows me away. Had I seen her out in public, or anywhere else for that matter, I would never have known that this was Billie Piper. In all honesty, I've not seen her, anywhere, since she left Doctor Who. Even her voice was/is different here. Amazing...left me speechless.
People are STILL commenting on this video saying that she got old, she sounds drunk, that her makeup is terrible, or that she's just plain ugly. Stop being shallow and rude to someone you don't even know. Billie is absolutely gorgeous, and of course she's older! That's what happens! It will happen to you, too. And at the time of this interview, Billie had a bad cold, which explains her sounding different. Her Rose voice is not her real voice, but this is her real voice being affected by sickness. You have no right to be judging her.
The 9th doctor who had been travelling for years with PTSD, recovering from a war, finally finding someone who he likes to travel with gets called "Kind of just a normal bloke"
Interesting she felt David's doctor was fatherly. I always thought Christopher's doctor was more fatherly, especially considering the relationship he had with Rose. It was more a filial type of bond. David's doctor was like a flirty intellectual on caffeine, lol.
Guys thumbs up if u agree with me my theory is , after the latest episode the "mystery guy"at the last part is actually the regeneration that took part in the time war a doctor heals ppl but in the war he killed everybody so actually he is the guy from the war and in the 50th anniversary special, they uncover a huge secret about the war
I like Billie since her first appearance on D.W. She still is beautiful and I personally wish she would come back. Also, I think Chris was like a dad, David was the foxy lover, and Matt was like the Doctor who even though had River deep down still cares so strongly about Rose but doesn't show it. ( and yes I know she came back in the 50th, I still wish she came back as Rose and interacted with the Doctor )
Do you think they get tired of constantly being asked about doctors theyve never worked with before. or about a show they havent been on for how many years now?
Well I think at this point she’s being asked because she’s worked with all three actors even if she hasn’t been Rose along side one. I think she has been in at least two other projects with Matt Smith, and Matt Smith has said in interviews for years that he and Billie are close friends. Plus, I mean, I’m sure she’s watched the show since leaving.
I don’t get Mother from Jodie’s performance as the Doctor. She’s a little distant when it comes to her family. I’d say she comes across as more of a zany Aunt figure. Matt’s Doctor was definitely the unpredictable child and younger brother. I can see why people would see Capaldi’s Doctor as the worldly weary grandfather, but there is a side to him that was also insecure about his outward appearance so perhaps he’s the older uncle who is trying to recapture his youth, trying to stay significant? Tennant’s Doctor was more of a fantasy, romantic lover character, not sure where I would place him. I don’t see him as a Father type. Family friend? Surely, Chris’ Doctor was the Father figure to Rose? And John Hurts, War Doctor the Grandfather character.
She knows and is friends with all three. Worked with David and Chris and has been in a couple other things with Matt and they’ve both stated in the past that they are good friends. It’s not a rude question at all, especially when it’s assumed that she’s watched the show since leaving ( and it might not even be that long after she left permanently. This comment was 3 years ago and the video was posted 10 so she might still be doing press for the 50th or something).
Sophisticated, posh? Yeah, a little. Of course Rose was a put on voice, didn’t sound entirely natural in the show and I wasn’t surprised her voice is different in real life.
I can't help thinking Billie is just talking about David and Christopher as people. She hasn't really worked with Matt, so, she's likely basing his interpretation on the role.
Christopher was manly and took a firm "the girl is with me" approach. David was a rebuttal to the age difference opposed by the previous, a springy, playful doctor. Matt was an old codger in a young man's skin, and bit out of touch, which is sympathetic to an older person in a younger person's suit.
Christopher was the rebel. David was the passionate friend. Matt was the goofball.
+Cristi Neagu What's Capaldi? LOL
He's the grumpy!
Matt Smith: The child of all doctors.
Cristi Neagu and Peter is shite 😂
I think Chris is like a father, David is like a brother, and Matt is like a child! :)
For crying out loud people, I never meant in relation to Rose/Billie, I meant to people in general. Obviously, The Doctor and Rose were in love.
I agree, except for David being like a brother to Rose. They were smitten with eachother, but couldn't completely admit it.
Laura Zaetz More like long childhood friends who hadn't seen each other through puberty and then were reunited.
And Capaldi as the Grandfather
Laura Zaetz
yes towards Rose but I was just saying towards general people
Michele Novoa
Yass!
I always thought that Chris was the more fatherly doctor, David was the lover out of all of them, and Matt was the awesome uncle that you always wanted to spend the weekend with.
Jenna Steinheuser David Doctor was a playerrrrr
I see Matt's Doctor more like your favourite big brother or cousin than an uncle, but I see your point. I guess both Chris's and David's Doctor had a fatherly feel to them in a way, both were very protective of Rose. But I always thought Ten and Rose felt a bit more like equals, whereas Nine he was more authoritative. Loved them both though.
she has a point about eccleston, i loved how normal he seemed
seething rage, almost always hidden
Slap bang in the middle of London
except he wasn't (normal) of course
I think how she described the Doctors 9, 10, and 11 was spot on. She came across as thoughtful and truthful.
I also think she looks fine. She's not Rose, she's Billie Piper.
Be less shallow. It will do you good.
Hope she sees this bro
It's a testament to the actors skill that people forget, they are just actors pretending to be someone else...or their idiots either way Billie Piper was a fantastic actress
She has changed a lot since 2005 I really can't get used to her not being blonde
tyler moran she also looks a bit older than I had expected she would at this point
@@BudderKing4u The makeup is not helping. The contouring changed her whole face.
Same hair colour here as when she first _rose_ to fame in 1998 with her number one single "Because We Want To". The blonde came later.
She also appears to have grown about 30 new teeth
I love it
“Rose, before I go, I just want to tell you: you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So was I.”
What I liked about David is that behind that energetic indie pop artist front there was always this deep awareness of all the implications of a problem that he tries to shield from the innocent. Just say it. Matt is a cosmic five year old.
MayMay Malamute yes, indeed... I prefer more of a balance of funny and serious... like Tennant...
Except with River. Matt had his romantic moments with her...
Wow! I didn't realize she had such a strong accent until I saw this.
xnonsuchx I didn't realize how high pitched her voice was. But I did notice how much she was in to that chewing gum. LOL
She only has a strong accent if you consider 'American' to not be an accent
Christopher Eccleston- more Fatherly
David Tennant- loving brother
Matt Smith-Fun Uncle
~Craftyhands12
Signed it, despite the fact that we can see his username.
Peter Capaldi - Grumpy, yet lovable, grandfather.
Justa Guy Lol
Regarding the idea of Tennant as a brother to Rose: Do sisters get jealous of other sisters for their brother's attention the way she did?
+dear.future.bethany Fatherly like daddy af
I think, Chris is like a father, David is like the hot boy, you can not get and Matt is like a child ! :) I love them all!
Sarah Stöbe Matt was very much like a child, but I do believe that River Song helped bring him along. That good bye kiss they shared made Matt look more like a lover than either of the other Doctors.

Have you seen her in Penny Dreadful? That's where I first 'met' her; David (Broadchurch) and Matt is awesome in the Crown.

My Favorite companion, Billie Piper!
She wanted to say Matt's was childish
Normal bloke? I was gonna go with traumatized war person.
Yes, exactly - Nine's Doctor was the one scarred by the war. I also think that Eleven was more the fatherly Doctor, seeing as he was officially Good With Kids. Ten was more the foxy lover.

KendrixTermina
A true point. Despite his claims he could take a more human - dare I say "domestic"? - approach when it came to figuring things out.
***** All the Doctors from Nine onward have exhibited strong signs of PTSD.
The joker is also a traumatised war person allegedly lol
Even though Tom B is my all time favorite doctor, when Chris E took on the role it was so refreshing to see the Doc in regular clothes. Really brought it back to earth.
He was the "madman in a box", just a normal dude on normal clothes dealing with a lot inside of him, and he had some guts! Loved Chris E!

So... Christopher Eccleston won. She sounds fine to me. Not stupid. Far from it.
Sexy and smart.
She chose her words so carefully😂

I saw her on Graham Norton and she sounded like a bubblehead on there as well.
