Just got one of these...boosted with a tubescreamer & a good IR, it blows away any Recto sim I've ever heard.
I wasn't sure which of these pedals to buy but you totally convinced me this is the pedal when you chucked in a bit of AIC. Great demo

Leon Todd could you do a DEMO please of your ADA MP1 threw a IR and see what it sounds like please?
I used this quite some time together with the Mooer Baby Bomb Poweramp. The clean channel is not as nice as the one of a real tube Marshall but the distortion channel rocks and i'mpressed, cheapest amp "head" you can gig with. Still have these digital micro pedals as spare amp in case a tube blows or something.
I heard that Kings X riff in there. Nice demo!
Hey Leon, you reviewed a jcm 900 a while back. I recently scored a killer deal on a ‘94 900 SL-X....no clipping diodes, extra pre amp tube (all factory) w/el34’s....highly recommended for you to review.....nasty ! I also am about to get that Mooer UK Gold for a backup rig. 👍🏼

Hi! I'm thinking of buying this pedal but I'm affraid if this tone is overcompressed like most of distortion pedals. Does anybody compare this pedal with tube amp distortion? What about headroom?

Did you compare it directly to the real Mesa amp? In demos like this, i sometimes think the product sounds 'good,' but then when i see A/B comparisons with what it's supposed to emulate, the shortcomings/differences are fairly pronounced. "Value" is one thing, but it helps to know what you're giving up.
That's a good point; I'm considering picking up their Recto version of this so I can compare it to the real thing. i wish I had a Friedman to compare this to though.
Oh, I was thinking you could compare it to the Mesa you have right behind you. I think you were saying this preamp had shades of both Marshall and Rectifier tones.
The Friedman stuff has nothing to do with Mesa stuff, Friedman BE is a modded plexi high gain beast and that’s what the preamp is modeled after. The way to compare the Mooer is with at least a marshall amp
Hey Leon ! Great review. Got a 002 on me. I do not know but pedals seem to have soo much gain. I do never pass 11 o’clock. This seems same on 012.

Its sounds great, but how do you go between a clean tone (Green) and the distorted (Red) tone playing live?
You step on the stomp button same as any other stomp pedal
@@peterdadswell7998 Yeah I had to do a little more research on it. I ended up buying the 012 pedal anyway. For a small pedal they say it remembers the last positions that you use which is cool, but you have to use those setting before hand. Then you can switch back and forth between the clean and distorted channel. That might a little tiresome if you were using it on a live gig. So I might just use the distorted channel on the pedal, and set up a nice clean channel on my amp for the way I will use it. Or get another one to have one clean and one distorted and hook it to a BOSS pedal switcher. But thank you for you reply.
@@DreidMusicalX2 no, once set it's just a clean / dirty stomp pedal. Hold the stomp down for about 2 seconds and it is then stomp clean / dirty. Hold the stomp down again for 2 seconds and then it is a dirty or bypassed pedal. As for cab sim, hold the small button down for 2 seconds and that engages or dis- engages the cab sim. Great for a live backup as long as 2 sounds will get you through or adjust it on the fly. Easy as...
@@peterdadswell7998 Ok thats sounds like a cool feature. But if you were using it on the fly. Couldn't you adjust the clean setting and run other pedals thru it like distortion pedals etc...? Oh well I see when I get it. Or ruin it? haha!
@@peterdadswell7998 Well I finally got it. I have to say my Blackstar Amp doesn't like it. I have to use it straight into the return of the effects loop and run my guitar directly into it leaving all my other pedals on my pedalboard that runs thru my amp normally useless. The good thing about the Blackstar is I can close the effect loop with some of my pedals and still flip between pedals that are plugged in the front input of my amp as well. This Mooer preamp pedal hate it! So you're right, if it is basically the only thing you want to use and maybe a pedal or two in from of it direct it might be ok. Just not for me. Im selling it back off. But thanks for your input!
LEON! I have an idea, combining MOOER preamp and Fractal FM3 for having a dual amp FM3 set up.
You can use one MOOER Micro Preamp with sim cab off, setted for example in a clean mode.
Then put it in FM3 fx loop.
Scene 1 (for cleans): FM3 amp bypassed, FX loop active (you are routed to MOOER clean preamp), FM3 sim cab ON (and go complete your chain with your favorite FM3 effect for cleans)
Scene 2 (high gain): Fx loop bypassed, FM3 regular high gain chain.
Could it work? What do you think about this idea? Would you go for an experiment/video about that?
Definitely, I've seen a few people do this and it's an attractive, cheap way to add another amp!

The BE is a distortion. The Mooer is a amp-in-a-box.

Yes BE od is od and distortion, you have to try in the return, a lot of gain pedal are able to sound like a preamp. Or sounds good and differently than in front of the amp.
The mooer is a capture of section "preamp" only, 2 channel, clean and drive.
I like using both possibilities, having the Blacknight I took the Gold US 100 and I am very happy with the result.
Which one is better for metal? This one or the gas station.( herbert )
I was told the gas station was based on the Hagen.....
