How to tell if someone is a Marine:
In 2023 they make a youtube video of how to mount a bayonet on a free float handguard for a modern AR platform. Not a Eotech attachment or laser/light attachment to your AR video...a bayonet attachment video!

It would be great to see if a company like Ballistic Dummy Labs would supply one of their ballistics gel torsos for some bayonet testing to compare different mounting options! It would be interesting to see the stability of a standard mounting option with the correct barrel length compared to the loose setup with the 16" carbine. It would also give you a chance to go to town with the Geissele mount haha

I recall there being a clamp-on bayonet mount back in the day. Can't remember who made it. If you have a 16" stick with lots of barrel exposed beyond the handguard, you could also get a M16 style FSB and pin it on the barrel like you would normally, as if you were going to use it for a gas block and then cut/grind off everything but what's needed to mount the bayonet and keep the whole thing on the barrel. That, of course, would require some know-how or for you to take it to someone who can do the work for you. I'm a machinist, so I'm biased!
When that Rittenhouse vid came out, it struck me that the angry mob was totally unphased by the line of guys pointing rifles and shotguns at them. I wonder if bayonets would have changed the mob's behavior? At the very least, if one of them tried putting hands on your rifle, you'd have a stabby thing to instantly fight them off with. Maybe you'd even escape the treatment that the corporate press gave Rittenhouse, since that wouldn't be "gunviolence".

    • @mnguy98
      @mnguy98 Před 8 měsíci +5

I'm 100% convinced that another Kyle Rittenhouse-esque event could be prevented by the addition of a bayonet. Once you add cold steel into the equation, people suddenly get a whole lot more hesitant to charge after you.

    Hello from Brazil.
The video and some subsequent comments were very helpful.
I am one of those guys who wants to have bayonets on all my military and SHTF long arms, including my home defense pump shotgun.
Brazilian army doctrine is that bayonets are psicological and crowd control weapons, forget enemy paratroopers...
They are useful to keep integrants of a mob at bay. You advance on them with a bayonet set, and they instinctively back up.
Also very useful to contain prisioners.
On both situations, it will also prevent people to jump and grab your barrel. If it doesn't, as you instinctively move back, they'll grab the blade.
Last but not least, in a SHTF situation, you must have a knife on your kit, then why not make it do double duty as a bayonet? My Buck 188/M9 bayonet has the nicest survival scabard, with place for a mini survival kit, wire cutter, built in sharpening stone and other tools.
Even on 1st world countries like yours, the most likely SHTF scenario is civil unrest, as you recently had.
Rather than enemy paratroopers, your real enemy will most likely be your "fellow citizen".
Use your bayonet so you don't have to use your rifle...

If you have enough exposed barrel, you can get a bayonet mount pinned on the barrel. If you have a lot of exposed barrel you can even use an A2 front sight with a free-float rail. As far as using a bayonet with a suppressor, you would need a long and thick handguard that extends past the barrel, a slim suppressor, and one of those rail mounts.

00:02 What, no "KILL!"? 😂😂 17 year old me had a blast with bayonet training. I think I may still be the only private in the world that kung fu kicked a bayonet into the dummy successfully too. Cost me a smoke session and it was a one in a million shot, but I did impress my Drill to the point he turned to the rest of the platoon and said, "What Private Pascual just did was absolutely retarded, and will probably get you killed. But it worked this time, and if it works, it ain't stupid. This is the kind of enthusiasm and creativity I want to see for killing. Private, you earned the rest of the day off in the front leaning rest... let your example go forward for the rest of the class in how it's sometimes better to be lucky than smart. Also, good aim."

Let me know if you think this is a good idea. Just get a picatinny-style gas block turn it upside down, slide it to your perfect adjustment and lock it in place

We need picatinny bayonet units instead of adapters. They should function like the spike bayonets for the smle no4

Just make a picatinny handle M7 bayonet like I have DIY BUILT fit and look good and it fit close to the barrel

The way I see it, having a bayonet is good because it’s rare for someone to know what it’s like to be shot, everybody on earth has been cut or stabbed by a sharp object at some point in their life and obviously would want to avoid something sharp.

Back in 2020 i looked at the (geisle/Gizzle whatever) i like the idea of having the bayonet after all better to have it and not need than to need it and not have it, however two things one added weight at the end of the muzzle which id prefer to avoid, two my handguard is key mod (dick towards enemy) My solution is if you cant run a bayonet on your rifle then make sure your Etool is well maintained. I Hope i did good gunny 👍

Time to go back to 18in bayonets!

Looks like at one time, a company by name of Triple R Products LLC made a extension for the lugs on 16". Not sure if that still exists. If someone finds that, let me know. Looks like there were some extended bayonets for 16" barrels too, I've seen pictures of them, but not finding a maker. After looking a bit I see it may of changed names, and is called APG defense for this lug extension for 16" barrel m4. I spoke of two other options, and never gave a link, and got a warning for my comment, and YT says they removed my comment. I assume they are talking about those comments, as it never showed me a example.

I want to mount a bayonet to my Remington 870, because California says that I can't.
Am I going mount one to my shotgun? Dunno. I try to abide by the law. California makes it very hard to do so.
    Hello from San Diego California.

Honestly, I'm kind of surprised that no one makes a free-float handguard with a built-in bayonet lug.

Still trying to figure out a reliable way to mount M-1917 bayonet to my Benelli M4 shotgun. In my eyes M-1917 is the only bayonet that should be on a shotgun!!!

We have sidearms now. You might as well just have a spear if you’re a civilian with a bayonet
