I have a daughter, she's 7. I love her so much. She means a world to me. But I've been always wanting to have 2 or even 3 kids. When she was 5 we decided to try for a sibling for her. We've been trying for 2 years. I had 2 IVF cycles, one mc. Now I'll have to go through a cycle of IVF with donor eggs. It is not lost on me that there are couples who have struggled with infertility for much longer than my husband. And I have and there are days that I wonder if I even have the right to feel the way I feel. Especially since we have a daughter. But then I think about how heavy my heart has been and how many tears I’ve cried and I think: Why should anyone feel like they have to earn their grief? I know many women are struggling and have no children at all. But secondary infertility is also a thing. And it is also a heartbreaking and devastating experience.

Dear Phoebe, you're not alone! We have a 3.5 boy and we're trying to have another child in last 1.5 years. Low sperm count, we already had one failed IVF. One thing that is devastating on this road is loneliness. We have only two types of "support":
1. "But, you already have one? So many people can't have any!" (I hear "You're ungrateful! You have one child, what else do you need, you're spoiled!"
2. "Just relax, it will happen!" (I hear "It's your fault, sit down and wait! You're not relaxed enough, that's why you're not getting pregnant!")
Both of these are so devastating things to hear, even though they come from the best intentions... What I need to hear is "I'm sad you're in pain. I can't understand, but I'm here for you! You wanna go see the movie, have a coffee or just talk about it?" Cause, that's what we need, not to feel alone and spoiled. We're not! We just desperately want to have a baby, like anybody else.

If this is a medical condition, then why does u.s. health insurance companies not cover tests and treatment options?
