As a kid I spent a summer with family in North Dakota. At first I felt out of place. A kid from the suburbs spending the summer on a farm. I ended up really enjoying it. Good food, nice people, low population and no rushing around.

@@bigscarysteve My husband's great-great grandmother and father on his mother's side were Blackfoot. Deadly enemies of the Sioux Nation. They would kill and wouldn't count coup to show bravery as the Sioux Nation did. His great-grandfather married an Irishman or Scotsman, we get mixed up of where the 2 fit in.

I drove our brand new Oldsmobile to Deadwood. While we were in a shop, golf ball size hail started. I ran out to the car, threw a sleeping bag on the roof, and other stuff on the hood and trunk. For the next ten years we had the Olds, it had pock marks like a golf ball. These dimples provided better MPG, just like dimpled golf balls fly farther.

Adam, thank you for this really interesting video. Brings back wonderful memories of when we toured the USA for my 70th birthday several years ago. The town of Deadwood was one of the many areas in SD we visited plus Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse. A truly beautiful and inspiring area. Now in my eighties, I would love to do all over again but due to health issues no longer possible. Many thanks from David in the UK.

Adam; for more "Wild Bill" Hickock history, you need to visit St. Joseph, MO where there is a lot of wild west history in the surrounding areas. In terms of "Wild Bill", you would need to visit the Patee House Museum and the Pony Express Stables as "Wild Bill" got his start as he was one of the first riders of the Pony Express. In addition, you can visit the home where Jesse James was murdered as it sits right by the Patee House Museum which was the headquarters of the Pony Express. St. Joseph was also one of the starting spots for the Lewis and Clark Expodition along with the Oregon Trail. Then about 30 minutes from St. Joseph is Kearney, MO where the Jesse James Ranch is which is where he was born.
Oh and I can't forget to add that a movie wad filmed in St. Joseph and buildings used are still standing. The movie in question is called Paper Moon which starred Ryan O'Neil and his young daughter Tatum O'Neil.

Back in the day with the folx, every time we would go through Deadwood and the surrounding areas there were always a million bikers. Seems not a lot has changed in 30 plus years. And you jogged my memory. As a kid about ten or so, I remember being right there at Wild Bill and Calamity Jane's burial spot. Of course it didn't have that huge headstone/bust then, but I do recall the fencing. I didn't know much about Wild Bill, but I knew of Calamity Jane through that old Doris Day musical film my mom always watched on TV when it would come on. Awesome video. Thanx for the memories and look forward to the next one. Take care.

Isn't it wild that Wild Bill Hickok was only 39 when he died? I always imagined he was much older. What a nice touristy town Deadwood appears to be (me giving stagecoach drivers the stink eye, working horses in the summer heat, poor babies...) Being that close to Borglum's Big Guys (Mt Rushmore) and being just a skip to the incomplete Crazy Horse, I figured you'd drag us over there - but you didn't! Just go where the wind blows ya, Adam! Hey Man, glad you visited Deadwood. I love that place ! Fortunate that I have been there three times. It is a great place of history. Last time I was there, at the Tin Lizy you could get an 8 ounce sirloin ,backed potato, salad, and tea for $199. Still have not seen everything there. Beautiful country and looks like you are having great weather too ! Over in Hill City, SD there is a train well worth riding. It passes by a location on the tracks where Gunsmoke filmed "Snow Train, and over in Rapid City some of the "set" buildings used in "Dances With Wolves" are now an attraction. This was part of the fort where the commanding officer shot himself and that bullet whole was still in the window from the movie (or at least it was when I visited. Up there in North Dakota, you can visit Fort Rice and Fort Abraham Lincoln where Custer left from for the Little Bighorn. Have a great time, I know whatever you do and video will be of great interest. Enjoying your tour, thanks !

That is so awesome. My wife and I went to South Dakota last May and absolutely loved it. Stayed in Custer and made day trips throughout the week. We had fun doing videos from there. Thanks again for sharing 😊
