The points below may answer some of your questions:
- The bag was in much better condition when I first bought it
- The condition you saw in the before footage is the result of me not babying the bag for a few years after purchase
- Having said that, it was still too expensive to pay US$5,000 for this bag -- so it was not a wise purchase. I would say US$4500 would be more reasonable
- I decided to send the bag to Hermes for their cleaning service after using the bag for about five years because the bag was in very bad condition and I didn't want to sell a bag in this condition to anyone
- Some people may think that with the amount of money (US$8,360) I spent on this bag, I could've bought a new Birkin from the store. A brand new Birkin 30 costs at least US$10,900 (2020 price). Also, when I paid US$5000 for the bag, I didn't know I would eventually send it to Hermes spa -- if I had known, I would definitely have looked into buying brand new. However, I don't think I would be able to buy a brand new Birkin 30 at retail price.

I sent my bag to Spa on the 12 March 2020.
It’s Jypsiere that I bought from Boutique 10 years ago.
When my SA ask what I want it fix. Or over all touch up. I said yes to over all touch up.
The bag is good condition. Accept it loose it shape.
And the Palladium rings are TARNISHED

Whew... I was shocked at first! I love luxury bags, but I couldn’t spend that kind of money on repairs. I guess whenever you repair a bag you have to look at replacement cost. Your repairs really look nice. I wonder if a repaired bag impacts its resale price?
I was just in LV to see the cost of repairing the interior of one of my cosmetic bags, but it was a little more than half it’s original cost. Instead I had an interior pouch made by samorga for $40.... once it finally breaks down I’ll just buy a new one!
wow this is an epitome of luxury. Expensive and repairable, NOT disposable. Your bag looks amazing. I wont worry about the colour after awhile they will all look uniform by exposure to use and light

strap? I just bought my bag at *gtdupe* and I'm worried that it's not the right fit for me. The strap is very short and it's impossible to wear it crossbody. Wow Winnie such an informative video. Your bag looks absolutely stunning and the navy with GHW is a classic! A couple of months ago I dropped off a vintage Kelly 28 for repair at Hermes. They tried fixing it locally (in US) but decided it needed to be sent to Paris. I suspect it’s because the turnlock is loose so it will need to be replaced 😂. The price breakdown you provided is so helpful and now I’m prepared to receive a quote from Paris 😃.

Nice and very helpful video for others. I also used their services, but In London, few years back. It was to retouch the all 4x corners and retouch of black piping... It was around 1.5 months and cost was very similar.. I can also confirm that they do not clean bags inside as I requested it twice and they politely refused.

I gave my mother a bag on the festival day. She liked it very much. It is easy to carry and not easily scratched. My mother often carries it when going out on rainy days, but it still looks new. I will consider buying another one next time I have the chance.

See this is why I won’t buy another brand new Hermès bag. My oldest Birkin has peeling on the handles. I got it brand new & it’s just very disappointing. I don’t even use it anymore.! I showed the lady at Hermès & she said “yeah this is very common. You can have it repaired at spa or just buy some adorable twillys & no one will ever see it?.” I bought the ugly Twillys but I hate them & the bag just sits in closet. Maybe I’ll send it to spa. It’s a gorgeous grey Swift leather bag with gold palladium hardware. Wow that’s so awesome you got a leather that’s retired😍😍❤️ lucky.!

I’m just annoyed that they had the nerve to charge as much as they do for some repairs that a brand like COACH, Kate Spade, MICHAEL KORS, etc. would do for free or at least a shipping charge! Now I know this is one of if not THE most expensive luxury fashion houses in the world, but that doesn’t mean that repairs should be an “afterthought” to their clientele. If the brand is really worth “the salt they shake”, then they should stand by their heirloom quality word. As someone who went to school for fashion/merchandising, this just puts a sour taste in my mouth. So many people dream of being able to one day afford the untouchable HERMÈS Birkin/Kelly/Constance, and they should last you decades not ‘A’ DECADE then you have to fix it.

If a customer wants the quality of a Coach, Kate Spade or God help me, a Michael Kors (who has not had an original design in his entire life), then the customer should buy a Coach, Kate Spade or MK bag rather than an Hermès. Just as someone can buy a Chevy Nova or a Rolls Royce. It's about 3 things - quality, quality, quality for a lifetime. Life is all about choices, a Nova vs RR - an Hermès vs anything else. Simple.

The marine blue with gold hardware is beautiful. They did a great job. Such a shame they can’t recondition the interior in some way. Never understood the Twilly idea really but now I get it, if it prevents wear and tear to the handles.

So, if you think about it, it took then from September (when they came back from vacation) until December to finish your bag... you waited 6 months because they had a break but if they hadn’t take one, or if you brought it in later, it would’ve been an estimated 3 month wait. And obviously there different factors that play into the time it takes like the amount of bags they get, if it is during the time of the year they are working on the new season’s bags, and all that

I love your channel! I’ve been looking for a vintage Birkin and stumble upon your lovely and informative. I have a few questions with the spa treatment.
1) Will I be turned away if I don’t have a relationship with a Hermes boutique? I’ve only gotten a few small items (Twillies, bracelets and belts) but not a bag. Relationship in a way that do I need to buy a actual bag (weather a Kelly or Birkin) from the boutique before getting entertained.
2) Have you personally dealt or know of Ginza Xiaoma? Any experience with this particular boutique.
