- Hello! Talofa! Welcome to JAMilyTV (Joe & Alisha Merrick Family = JAMily) You may recognize Joe as being that hot guy you passed on the street once. You may recognize Alisha from her Laughing Moms CZcams channel where she makes mom-centric parodies. We have decided to make a LIFE-CHANGING DECISION to sell all of our belongings and move from our comfortable life and home in Texas to live on the beautiful island of SAMOA and announce that in today's vlog. Our family and friends have asked that we document our journey so they can see all of the things we will experience. Jealous you get to live in Samoa. I lived there for couple years doing missionary work and loved every second. Excited to follow your journey!
Awesome! You in school right now or you rollin’ w a real job? If you’re in school and on summer break, you should come here for a few months and teach me and a few members and nonmembers Samoan from the white dragon! We can find you a free place to stay and a job for some spending money. We’ll even pay for your plane ticket!

@@JAMilyTV kinda tired of the city life. Born in San Francisco and went back in the early 80s came back to the Bay area mid 80s went back to American Samoa 90 and came back 93. Honestly I'm tired of the city life sorta and would love to move back to enjoy life in paradise. Beautiful ocean, not to mention we have a vacant house and lots of land. It would be nice to open up a small business of some sort, still in the air...
Jet ski, snorkeling gear, fruits of the land, family has a few houses, can get a house build for a reasonable price, tropical island, No property TAX, NO mortgage payments, I mean seriously?!
I'm tired of America BS and the cycle of working your tail off until you reach a certain age to live a few more years and die! Of course you need money and finding that balance while enjoying life and living! It's worth it to me.
What made you decide to move to Samoa?
+Tasi Tasi lived in Pago till i was 5. Moved to the States. Lost my Samoan. Coming back w my family so we can all learn the language and culture. Exciting times! Let us know if you move back!

wow, you sure you want to move there. At least rent out your house in case you can't make it there. I just came back and I thought that I can retire to Samoa, but boy, it's too hot. At least you can have AC,cost 2-4 grand for one room. And yes you can have hot water,don't know how much. the house we rented had hot water using solar power. Good luck to you guys.
Hahaha! Yes it is SUPER hot. But we’ve gotten used to it a little bit. Time will tell, lol! We’re loving it here in Samoa though. We do have some hot water. And AC in our master bedroom. Electricity is such a huge variable here. Sometimes it’s super expensive and sometimes it’s super cheap!
@@JAMilyTV Glad you are enjoying it and I know kids will love it. They are resilient. I'm too old to take the heat, legs were so swollen, it took a while to get them to normal size. So now I enjoy visiting.
brookside109 brookside my legs swell in the heat and flying too. Not great. I got dengue twice. Best to visit and even that is getting tougher for me. Living there would be a bit to difficult for me now i think. When I was younger no probs. The heat and hurricanes arent very appealing but such a pretty and colourful island otherwise.
Why are they moving to Samoa in the first place. And are they coming back. Anyone knows.
We moved to Samoa because we felt like we (all of our family) needed to learn the language and gain a better understanding of the actual Samoan culture rather than American Polynesian culture. Or at least try our best to do those things. Where are you watching from? :)

My family moved to Florida from American Samoa when i was 5. Lost my Samoan and didn't get the opportunity to come back until 30 years later. Loved our visit in 2013 and my wife and i decided we needed to figure out how to give our girls the experience of Samoa and the culture and learn the language. So we're here to do those things. +Breaktronix because i am half Samoan and lived in American Samoa until i was 5. Samoan was my first language, but i lost it when we moved to the States. Hoping i can get it back and our family can learn it during our time in Samoa. :)

Is language the main reason you're moving to Samoa? Why not American Samoa then?
Lusi Myer when we visited Samoa and American Samoa in 2013, we just felt like Samoa offered us more of the types of experiences we were hoping for for the kids. We felt like AmSam was more of Hawaii lite and we wanted something more like Savaii lite, haha!
